put tv together after installing a new jack on the tuner. all that shows in the picture is black and white snow. maybe i cracked the joint in the tuner when I put the casing back together? Ever had this happen after repairing the jack? not sure where i went wrong. i almost don't want to take the board out again because it took me a few hours to desolder with the braid. maybe a solder sucker would be better than the wick.
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. It sounds as though your tuner circuit board probably became cracked across one of the foil traces when the connector was pulled out, or you unknowingly unsoldered one of the very small surface mounted components. I suggest you take a 10 powered magnification lens to help you check things over. or find a replacement. If all of the above fails my best advice is don't let it upset you. Part of this business
put the tv back together and the new tuner doesn't have picture, it's all black and white snow. (digital antenna, not cable) but still it should have worked. No cold joints from my new solder joints. although when putting the tuner casing together I heard a pop, maybe my jack connection broke i'm not sure.
Thanks buddy. I finally got it. yes it wasn't hot enough, but thankfully my 30W iron was able to do it after sanding, wiping on sponge and adding solder to the tip which seemed to work a lot easier! Got the tuner out, and put in a new jack and put back together. now to just solder tuner back on the board. I found it easier to remove the board from the tv by unplugging all the wires and working on my desktop.
I was able to desolder the pins on the Tuner card. as for the 4 clips that are soldered to the mainboard, maybe my iron is not hot enough but I can't get it desoldered.
funny how you guys say it as, 'soddering'. There's an 'L' in there!

Its a good idea to wear safety glasses while soldering.

I find it best to use a soldering gun for the clips you mentioned, or buy a soldering iron which puts out more heat.
