I love the Grease soundtrack, but there is something off-putting about a 5-year-old saying she "needs a man." Surely there are other innocuous pop songs they could have picked?
the show sat uneasily with some adults, capped by a performance from five-year-old Joanna Fisher who covered the Sheena Easton song "9 to 5" (known as "Morning Train" in the States) in nightclothes and included the lyrics "night time is the right time, we make love".
Though the series was a success for Channel 4, gaining two million viewers, little thought had been taken on the ethics of child performers, singing songs originally written for older artists and dressing and dancing in a provocative style often influenced by the original performance. Whilst embraced by children who loved the idea of ordinary children singing and dancing as they did along with their favourite songs,
jesus that brings back some memory's, I loved the mini pops when I was a young fella, I was mad into one of them, little blond thing she was lol,,,god this brings back some great memories.
I'm Rob's mum (he's 39yrs old next month) The little girl, Kelly, was really talented and sweet. Does anyone realise there were NO rehearsals - These were 'first takes'. I think they did brilliantly in the circumstances.
Rob married and now lives in Australia. He teaches kids to dance. They were a lovely couple of children and grew up to be lovely, well adjusted adults xxx
Personally I would not encourage any child to sexualise itself for the sake of cheap entertainment...no matter how well adjusted they grew up to be. This is not talent...I've seen chimps and dolphins with more talent than this.
there is nothing wrong with this, I loved the minipops when i was younger and wished it was still the same as now, The ones now sucked, and back that was normal for there to be a lot of makeup, my sister use to have a big bang and lots of makeup and red lipstick and she would load on the hair spray, Even during dance shows they would put alot of makeup on us. I would totally love for my kids to watch these now they are awesome and were awesome back then.
Oh for gods sake!!..This video was very popular in the 80s and now 16 years later I still dont see anything wrong with it...If u want to see disturbing then U need to see "Little Ms Perfect"...Parents are literally pimping their little daughters on television..this show was nothing but a bunch of kids having fun and wearing makeup...Get your minds out of the gutter!!
the only reason its looked down upon now is cause most people are perverted !! i actually watched this show as a child im now 24 and im okay ! there is nothing wrong with it..
Look, everyone might be freaked out, they had too much makeup, etc. But it was the era before pedo's...if you produced such a vidoe today, it will be life sentence with the key thrown away
cute x

@BlondLittleAngels This show was aired in England, not America. Apparently some people over there are just as "narrow-minded" as Americans.

Oh dear, that last bit was uncalled for wasn't it ?!
On a first take, which this was, I believe most would think they did so well.

This is a completely inappropriate song for children to be singing and dancing. It's almost perverted, in my opinion. Terrible.
