I like Ash when I'm renegade. However, when I'm paragon, I love Liara (my true love). I always made my renegade Shepard the opposite of my paragon Shepard. He despises most of the alien races except he likes the Asari and has one as a slave but he also likes to bang on Ash. I made him cocky and a player. Lol. When I play renegade I pretend it's like a mirror universe like the one in Star Trek with the Terran Empire (the evil Federation) and the evil Starfleet. Lol.

@TheJuan480 Mass effect is an action RPG game where as the story progresses you must make moral choices that define your character and the outcome of the story, it's a very different style than bioshock. If you give it a try and you like it then you can play Mass effect 2 and import your ME1 character to continue your story with your decisions and finally you can import again your ME2 character to Mass effect 3 where the story ends.
Tip for all those who want to buy this game on PC... don't. It is the most fucked up, badly made peice of bullshit you will ever purchase. (For the die-hard fans of the game, i am not disparaging the graphics, gameplay, storyline or general quality of the game, i wouldn't know about any of those, i never got to play this peice of shit) Installation is bugged and the pre-game configuration is screwed up. Just a warning to all of you.

You should have gotten it and downloaded it off from EA Origin. That is where I got my copy from and it works fine on my PC and it's an amazing game and it gets better in Mass Effect 2! Oh I just can't wait for Mass Effect 3! Man I almost slap you across the face after reading your first comment that you said the first Mass Effect was a piece of shit. Lol. Actually I have Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 both on the Xbox 360 and PC and got every DLC mission too.
Only thing I had trouble installing was "Bring Down the Sky", the add-on mission but I managed get it working though. Maybe you should buy Mass Effect 2 through Origin since you had trouble with the retail version of the first Mass Effect.

If you only care about the main quest, don't bother with the first game. If you want more beef for your savegame transfer to ME3, then play it. ME3 carries over 10,000 variables from both ME 1and 2, so you may be missing out.

It's a choice, and can add a different dimension to the game, but is not necessary. The good thing about this game is that there are different ways to play it. This game is one of the best from this generation. You would be an idiot to miss out on it just because you think it is "nerdy".
Also, last time I checked, us gamers are still labeled as nerds because we like to play games. So, I assume that playing Mass Effect, a Sci-Fi game, would be "nerdy" to some.
@Vashtanerada477 Im comander Shepard, and Mass Effect is my favorite franchise in the universe. Mass Effect also has the most romantic encounter in any videogame ever. If you wanna know what i mean, try playing through ME1 while romancing Liara. Then import that playthrough into ME2 and play the Lair of the Shadowbroaker dlc, being as sweet as you can to her throughout that mission, that will result in one of the best moments in any RPG game...

play the first one first...because if you start with the second one you won't be able to enjoy the first one(2nd one is just way more polished and improved)....I made the mistake with the Dead Space series, but luckily I didn't with Mass Effect

@pjtr123 The "epic song" in this trailer is a composition of two songs. I can definitely say that the first one is called "Dark Empire" by X Ray Dog; there exist also several remixes of this song. Just search for it here on Youtube. I guess the second song at 0.57 is also from X Ray Dog, but I am not sure about this.
Will someone please explain to me why people like this game? I was amazed by its cinematic quality at first, then I realized that the gameplay was not very good at all. The shooting was way too simple and just not fun. Then there were the tank battles, which were god awful. This game shows us that a game doesn't need to play well to be a success, all it needs to be is pretty.
The developers did a good job with Dragan Age though. That game is pretty and cinematic, but it's also fun to play.

That's my point exactly! You are comparing Mass Effect to movies. If Mass Effect was a movie, it would be a big success. The problem is that it's not a movie, it's a game. The developers neglected the gameplay and focused too much on cinematics and story. I'm not willing to spend hours on end playing a subpar video game just to watch the cut scenes. I'd rather watch a movie or read a novel. Sorry :P
@Andrewh313 oh blehh, u never seen totally aliens. Besides,Mass effect has several alien races and their alot INTERESTING than Star wars and Star trek species. Take Salarians for an example,talks real fast without error..their very Smart,intelligent and are Professors. Turians,Hanar,Drell,Salarians,Asari,Batarian,Volus,Elcor are all completely alien races =D.
I admit I only tried to play the first game. I told my friend how disappointed I was with it, and he tended to agree with me. However, he did say that the gameplay was improved in the second game. I may give that one a try.

I wish the engine they used 4 mass effect was a little better in number 2 it looks better but just slighty. I hope in number 3 it's much more improved like a whole lot. Still it's one of the best game of all to

Bioware does the greatest RPGs ever.
Bioware like Blizzard both make 2 awesome types of games, one futuristic, one medievil
(starcraft 1 +2 and warcraft 1+2+3 vs mass effect 1+2 and dragon age)

@pjtr123 The "epic song" in this trailer is a composition of two songs. I can definitely say that the first one is called "Dark Empire" by X Ray Dog; there exist also several remixes of this song. Just search for it here on Youtube. I guess the second song at 0.57 is also from X Ray Dog, but I am not sure about this.

Will someone please explain to me why people like this game? I was amazed by its cinematic quality at first, then I realized that the gameplay was not very good at all. The shooting was way too simple and just not fun. Then there were the tank battles, which were god awful. This game shows us that a game doesn't need to play well to be a success, all it needs to be is pretty.
The developers did a good job with Dragan Age though. That game is pretty and cinematic, but it's also fun to play.

Including 50% of Star wars! I was like you when i saw this game! I think it be fighting alien crap,BUT NO! THE STORY IS BEYOND EPIC,YOU'RE TRYING TO SAVE THE ENTIRE GALAXY FROM AN ANCIENT GENOCIDE MONSTER/ALIEN RACE DESTROYING THE WORLD(I won't spoil more) That should keep u guessing,go buy it..U SHOULD

That's my point exactly! You are comparing Mass Effect to movies. If Mass Effect was a movie, it would be a big success. The problem is that it's not a movie, it's a game. The developers neglected the gameplay and focused too much on cinematics and story. I'm not willing to spend hours on end playing a subpar video game just to watch the cut scenes. I'd rather watch a movie or read a novel. Sorry :P

@Andrewh313 oh blehh, u never seen totally aliens. Besides,Mass effect has several alien races and their alot INTERESTING than Star wars and Star trek species. Take Salarians for an example,talks real fast without error..their very Smart,intelligent and are Professors. Turians,Hanar,Drell,Salarians,Asari,Batarian,Volus,Elcor are all completely alien races =D.

I admit I only tried to play the first game. I told my friend how disappointed I was with it, and he tended to agree with me. However, he did say that the gameplay was improved in the second game. I may give that one a try.

@Andrewh313 well i got the 1st,i wanted to make my decisions and transfer them to ME2, and then ME3. I will my Hero to be a legend throughout the Galaxy,it be a pity if ME3 is the Reaper invasion(but its Shepard's end life T-T)..Man i was starting to love his voice acting and character ALL OF IT

@pkring : This is actually one of the best games ever made. Graphics are amazing, the plot is compelling, characters are well-developed, gameplay is great, etc. There's little not to like about this game ! !

Well, this and Fallot series is only one i can think of atm i havent played on PC...answer is simple, i just havent got the time. I even have Fallot 3 at home, but i havent installed it yet.
