  • I remember i was there... We have bathed in the lake, And we were lucky that there was no cloud =)

  • beautiful pictures,

hey check out the video i made of my friends band playing first ever electric gig on top of Ben Nevis, carried electric generator and drums up on backs!

    youtube.com/watch?v=-eNpe67CEDM

  • How on earth did you manage to get nearly 31,000 people to watch this, without sound/music??

  • @matt160177 Well, you just watched it, didn't you? That's how, lol.

  • Nice vid

  • ive been up before and was at the top in a storm it was intense, doing the 3 peaks tomorow!!

  • hahahaha you call this a mountain lol, its more like a big hill, try climbing mountains in Scandinavia"""

  • @Haugy13 Its harder when you go the rock climbing way right up the side.

  • @Haugy13 Did you think he was showing off? lmao If you want to talk mountains, this is the biggest we have here in the uk.. fair enough. But even Edmund hillary trained on Snowdon... are number 2! There just a stepping stone for any British mountaineer.

  • @petejones216 There barely mountains...

  • @Haugy13 Lol... well im training for Mont Blanc currently an i think there great places to train as apposed to being stuck in the gym. Are you really into your mountaineering then? Serious question? Im not being facetious!

  • @Haugy13 they may be just over half the height of Scandinavias highest peaks but there are still some challenging hills in Scotland.Ben Nevis up the pony track is just a long boring slog following the herd. The Cuillin on Skye, An Teallach and many others are not as high as BN but are far harder, especially in Winter. A summer stroll up the Ben is easy for anyone reasonably fit, a traverse of the Cuillin in winter is nothing less than a full mountaineering expedition. Height isnt everything.

  • It isn't that hard but some parts are realy steep I'm realy unfit and weigh about 18 stone and I do it regularly

  • Great video. Id love to do it but dont think im fit enough. How hard was it to climb ?

  • I'm doing the three peaks in May 2010, Thanks for the video, Gave me an insight & well worth watching.

  • that's really interresting and this very dangerous!

  • u r awesome! i did it 2007. we did it just for fun, and by the half way, it starts to get really rainy so we did it in t-shirt in dezember up! i thought i never survive that but i di! suprise!

well when i see ya vid. all memeries comes up, i knew every part you filmed! accept ya roead trip! but anyway.. NICE JOB!

    take care !

  • Excellent! How far and how long does it take to get to the top? Can anyone tell me? I was there in 1995, but didn't climb it... just visiting... Who knows next time....

  • @beakman1966 I needed 4 hours to get to the top and 2 hours to get down again and i think up and down is 16 km to go.

  • Looks awesome. I went to canada a few years ago and have been wanting to go back, but will be taking a trip up to Scotland in March, to satisfly my mountain craving! :)

  • I've done this climb twice with the dog. The second time the weather was excellent. I could see for miles and miles. Managed to get some good photos. The dog appeared to enjoy it as well!! He's done quite a few mountains.

  • doing this climb in a few weeks time

  • i did this when i was 11, i did scafell wen i was 10 an i did snowdon dis year = 12

  • I am off to climb it on friday 14th. wish me luck x

  • Comment removed

  • We also climbed on 14th. Weather was horrendous eh ! How did you get on ?

  • i went up sca fell pike in this massive cloud that had gale force winds hail and rain but i dtill got to the top i was really pleased

  • not like me...

i got to a lil bit after or before the 2/3 pictures and slipped and twistied my ankle AND whacked my shin off a rock so i came back down, but considering im 10 i think i did well

  • well done! its now been 4 days since we climbed it & my calves are still a little bit sore. The weather when we did it was nice & sunny but once you got towards the top the clouds just took all visability away. I will do it again but will make sure its completely clear of clouds for an immense view at the top. funnily enough, when u commented on here i was looking through my pictures of the climb!!!

  • just wondering

i was thinking of going on this climb

is it essential to take like a guide with you

or can u just go on it by yourself

  • not at all, theres a trail all the way up to the top & there will always be others both going up, and coming down so you can't get lost. Just make sure u set off knowing it will prob take minimum 5hrs up & down in regards to day light, i would'nt want to come down it in the dark!! i would 100% reccomend it

  • hey there, i'm climbin Ben Neivs this sunday, and it was great to see what i was up againsts, thanx!

  • i did it on thursday, best experience of my life! still hurting now tho cos its some effort to get up, and getting back down if almost as hard, certainly requires more concentration! also if you run out of water, fill up your bottle with the water that runs off the mountain, best tasting water you will ever have, no exageration! good luck!

  • I did it! came back last night, travelled for 9 hours gettin back lol the weather was horrendous! No visibility watsoever, and pouring it down with rain all the way up, i was wearing 3 thick layers and 'waterproofs' but was still soaked through, we were constantly in clouds. But i wouldnt have changed it we had 13 ppl crammed in the little cabin! thamkfuly as soon as we headed down it stopped raining and the sun came out of no where, we got to admire the views. wat a night, my legs are dead!

  • if anyone is interested, the record for climbing up and down ben nevis is less than an hour and a half.

    crazy fell runners.

Well done on the climb buddy

  • Going to do Ben Nevis soon!

Tried Sca Fell pike had to come back down though, the weather got to a point of being EXTERAMLY bad! Had loads of snow and dropping temperature. Shame really!

  • What month was it when you climbed it?

  • Just to let you all know i conquered all the big 3 last week.

Done Ben on Monday and i gotta say i found it quite easy and the weather was outstanding.

Done Sca Fell on the Wednesday found that a bit frustrating with the scree but there was i bit of a scramble which i really enjoyed.

Done Snowdon on the Friday and with typical Welsh weather the summit was poor vis and a bit cold n damp too.

Thinking about doing it all again in August but Ben Nevis to finalise was BRILL!!

  • how come there is no sound ?

  • check out my video's of when i camped out at the top of Goatfell Mountain on the isle of Arran.

  • haha i achuly walked ben nevis today.

  • Nice Goin....I've climbed Mt Snowdon a few times now but in June i turn the big 40!! and plannin to do the big 3 of ours Snowdon/Scaffel Pike and of course Ben all in a few days....3-4 at the most.

I believe this could be the most gruesome 1 of them all...what i need to know if any1 has done any of the above mountains which in order would you place them...hardest first lets say?

    Thanks Guys.

  • Hi,

Just started walking this year really but done all three (including the ben this weekend). The pony track up Ben Nevis is fairly long, but its not crazily steep at any point. Hard to say which is hardest, depending on the routes you take, they can be quite similar! To put it into perspective last time I did snowdon it was 4.5 hour (up miners, down pyg) and Ben Nevis was 6.5 hours (pony track) with quite a bit of time larking around in the snow! It was brilliant though, you'll love it!

  • im climbing it in a few months and as soon as i get to the top im gonna crack open the beers it

  • see any gray men?

  • im about to climb ben nevis soon but im really SCARED D=

  • How high is Ben Nevis ?

  • Jabba - Ben Nevis is 4409ft / 1344 metres as measured personally by me and my Garmin satnav.

  • Thanks Bud,

    much appreciated.

  • BTW, don't forget that although the mountain is not VERY high, its conditions at the summit are arctic-alike so, be prepared for a weather change in a two-minute space of time, and that "Benny Hill" knows no season change - it might be always winter up there. I'm planning to walk up the Tourist Path this summer, and I'm gathering lots of info about the mountain in case that I have to walk down in white-out conditions.

  • who is Benny Hill ???

  • how much training do you need to climb ben nevis?

  • none. its a pretty standard climb

  • im 13 and me and my dad climbed it in about 3 hours, then my dads back got injured and took 4hours to go down , you could go down in about half the time you went up, but it is great to do i strongly recommend you do it

  • This Is great footage.I was born and grew up in Edinburgh.I climbed Ben Nevis once when my daughter was 9 weeks old back in 1989.We had to stop half way up for a feed and change of nappy.I now live in Nashville Tennessee and this is a great memory of mine.

  • Great video :)

We were up there just a few days after you on the 12th Sep 2007, and sadly no snow or ice :(

We do however share the same zero summit visibilty.

  • ive climbed up ben nevis when i was 11

  • cool vid, i was there only last week but had 10% visibility at the top! (see my vid)

    You got some great shots

  • the snow was still there on thursday 7th august

  • very gd climb

  • we had 2 drive da full length of lock ness too, we climbed ben nevis in july, great climb bt wudnt do it agen

  • great mountain!

i've do on this mountain my militairy training;)

  • Great video! I do a lot of hiking with my 2 dogs. Done Ben Nevis a few times now! The view from the top never gets boring!

  • nice video, im doing the 3 peak challenge in sept.

  • interesting i am doing it in may 3 peaks in 24 hrs travel an all. how about you

  • same challenge, we are strting on ben nevis, then travelling down to scafoll pike, then down to snowdon, 24hrs inclusive of travel. we have 2 drivers and 8 walkers split into 2 teams.

  • cool we are doing it upward ending in ben nevis. there is a team of 40 including support drivers etc. there are plans to do it twice in 48 hrs too.

  • thats how you are to do the challenge...the 24hrs to include the driving. i done it 2 years ago and it is tough but worth it. just come home 5mins ago after doing nevis again.

  • im doin it in july! :D

  • Did you drive down the great glen from Inverness?
