  • This is really good :) . I think that the eco-clothing industry should get bigger and hopefully it will :D

  • Great interview with James Lesure!

  • petitiononline . com /ruslana/

  • This is so great! Eco~fashion! Yaye 2008!

  • Gwendolyn Gleason Couture has a eco chic couture bridal collection. Gwendolyn is a pioneer for the bridal Industry. This would be a great collection to show at this event.

  • was there

  • Olesya is really beautiful!

  • She is pretty, she looks like Ashly Olsen. She's like the triplet, the one that eats, lol

  • It is really good to see this sort of eco-growth finally spreading to the fashion industry and elsewhere. Clothing made from seaweed is amazing. But hemp is probably a much easier renewable resource to grow and harvest for clothing, paper, and so much more. The U.S. once had a thriving hemp industry until the lumber companies sureptitiously bought the hemp fields and plowed them under.

  • It's a step in the right direction. What does the harvesting and manufacturing of seaweed involve as far as a carbon footprint? Nice clothes, but the latest fashions are not my thing.

  • Cotton production uses tons of water & I believe the most pesticides of any fabric. Seaweed would negate both of these problems. But, dies, packaging, and production if not wind or solar (or something) are very harmful as well. At least this is a step in the right carbon footprint free direction. But we can still do better. We need clothes & people aren't giving up on fashion any time soon, so at least there are attempts. Seaweed sounds like a great option, unless it's ever overdone.

  • GREAT! Better than wearing polyester, that's made from CRUDE OIL.

I have been buying bamboo PJ's and sheets...so cool and comfortable. I will NOT wear anything with Poly or Spandex.

Manufactures will fill the demands for bamboo clothing if it sells and they can make a profit!

Hurrah for the Sierra Club for showing the public how they can help our enviroment by buying Eco friendly merchandise.

  • You're very right, but be cautious of the dies & chemicals used as well, also packaging. Bamboo's AWESOME, but it's only one step. Dies & processing chemicals, also energy used in production, & packaging are extremely damaging too. Just keep demanding, & do what you can. You're doing GREAT already!

  • Well, I guess any movement in the direction of sustainability is a good thing.

Here are good sites for more info about what you can do to help with the environmental crisis we face.

  • I don't understand what's environment-friendly about harvesting seaweed. I'd like more information on that.

it's now known that eating lower on the food chain is better for the environment than driving a Prius. Seems logical that it would be better than wearing seaweed too. Let's see Sierra Club pushing plant-based diets over animal-based diets.

  • The eating thing's one of my beefs w/them, I'm a veggie. The issue on the clothes is that new fabrics use tons of pesticides & chemicals, & water, in production. Cotton uses the most pesticides & tons of water to grow. This isn't as green as shopping @ a used store that DOESN'T use nasty chemical sprays to disinfect, but the latter part's been hard to find. We do need clothes, fashions not going away, & it could be better, but at least this is a step in the right direction.
