Much of this footage looks to me like the Bougainville Landings in November 1943 not Guadalcanal in August 1942. Too many M1 Garands (which the 1st Marines didn't have) and the Marines in 1942 didn't have camou covers on their helmets either. Nice footage though and great voice.
Washington lied to these kids. the army brass said the japanese were just little guys! imagine the shock felt by some skinny kid from Arkansas suddenly running into a 6ft, 200 pound Japanese Marine in a really bad mood!!
@jarr2001 The fellow that Gen. Patton slapped had malaria. The general, not being a nurse or doctor, could not distinguish its mental effects from cowardice.
@P1B1U1H1 The soldier Patton slapped was 27-year-old Private Charles H. Kuhl of the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He had "Battle Fatigue" (an emotional issue) not Malaria
were's the big animal that eat the japan alliance

@jettrink60 The second incident happened in a gay bar in Palermo and Patton sent roses the next day.

@beeceesp If you look matters up, you'll read malaria. I thought the same as you until I read about the parasite.

This is NOT rare color film. Almost ALL of this is colorized B&W. Like the story though.
