So basically, (disregarding backlashes), if you want maximum distance, all of the breaks would be pushed in, so that they don't rub against the thingy?
Thank you for the video...my question for you good sir...I'm getting a new baitcaster. It will be my first one. I'm wondering if the Citica is good for jig and worm fishing...What do you think?
@1995Blackrosedying Yes, the Citica is a great reel for around $100, but the Lew's Speed Spool is turning many Shimano fans to Lew's fans. With 10 ball bearings and a few different gear ratios, I would suggest going with Lew's. I'll send you the link in a message.
@BassinNW Hey thanks. I looked at the Lew's Speed Spool and decided to go with the Citica. However, I thank you for your recommendation. I'm glad someone cares. The Citica was on sale =)
@BassBoyzFL First, make sure your spool is pushed in completely. Second, you may have turned the cover lock, which would normally not allow the cover to close unless "turned" to the open position once again.
@BassBoyzFL You might need to wiggle the spool back and forth in order for it to sit back down. You won't hurt anything....just move it around until it falls back in completely.
thanks dude this helped a lot! I was lost when i heard about the system, as i am newish to baitcasting. I know how to do it, i have one baitcaster already and i have a caenan coming in the mail either tomorrow or wedensday. If im just going to do regular casting would you reccomend to put on two?
@3boredudes I think you should be ok with setting two brakes, but if you notice any backlashing, try moving up to 3 or 4 until you "teach" your thumb.
Just stick with it and don't give up. Sooner or later, you'll be a pro :)
i need help! my spool wont spin. like when i click the thumb release it works fine but when i spin the handle, the handle spins but the spool doesnt, and he thumb relese doesnt go up. so i manually have to click it up..whts wrong with it??
So. I used your technique and my Calais casts like butter. This guy bought the reel for $440 and couldn't set the brake so he sold his problems to me for $100. Thanks to your vid I just got a great deal.
Hey, thanks. I bought a used Calais form a guy. I know why he was selling it because he had just one break clicked up and it was free spooling. I hope this works. I engage four to start so wish me luck.

@eldad12345 Tying line to your Curado? I have a video that shows you how to tie an arbor knot around your spool so you can put line on your reel. It's called "Spool a baitcasting reel"
is the citica any good honestly compared to the curado.....or should i just spend a little more money and get a curado...cause i heard mixes reviews about the citica
@xXcam0manXx For the money, I honestly think the Citica is a solid decision. If you have the extra bones, the Curado gets you 3 more bearings ( a little smoother with heavy lures) and a slightly larger spool.
I couldn't justify the additonal money personally because they're very similar. I'm on my second season with the Citica and I've oiled it once. No problems whatsoever, so I'm happy with my purchase.
Get to the store, and put each reel on a rod and see which one feels better. Good luck
@BassinNW do they cast them same........and can the citica cast light lures well...cause i am really considering getting one...but i want it on my shore fishing rod...that i can either throw... 1/2 spinnerbaits...or weightless worms....will it work out
@BassinNW thanks man....i wanted a citica...i just wanted a review from somebody that uses it alot....im going to get one...i just dont know when..maybe next week..maybe next moth ..
@xXcam0manXx No problem, you know what? Tackle Warehouse has a Demo program where you can order one each and try them out. I haven't done it yet, but I have ordered a lot from them and I'm sure the demo program is a great way to compare each reel, side by side in your hand!
@BassinNW yea i know i seen it before on there website....but i just dont like paying with credit.....im going to check both them out at bassproshops....and see which one i feel like getting...
@xXcam0manXx dude the citica is sick but just sayyin if you have the money get the curado i just barely had enough for a citica and mojo bass its a sick combo the citica is real smooth and casts far
Great video!

can you click just one on????

@xx4james4xx You can, but reel companies suggest you offset each brake. Try it for yoruself and see if it works for you.

nice vid man. was wondering what rod did you combo it with??
FishboiFishboi 8 months ago
@FishboiFishboi It's paired with a 6'6" Shimano Compre (medium). It's great for treble hook lures and light topwater baits.

@xXcam0manXx Like I said before, the 3 extra bearings will come across a little smoother. I can cast light lures just fine, but that's me.
I throw weightless worms every trip, so yes, even heavier lures are a breeze. It's a solid reel.

but by putting down two tabs to you mean like 2 of the ones like lined up or 4 all together??????/
BassAnglerMike33 1 year ago
@BassAnglerMike33 You can try as many as you like. If you pull one out, make sure to do the one on the opposite side.
If you're casting in high winds or with really light lures, pull out another two if you're having line issues (for a total of 4 pulled out).
It's completely your decision.
