  • ahh yes, I do know that little guy, Totoro. :) I see him in the shop windows in the city sometimes. We dont have the spring festival here in Japan but we do have various festivals that include fireworks. Also I know the kids get monetary gifts during spring festival right? Kids get gifts here too from relatives at various special times.

  • Well, they have these things called "Hong Bao" - my spelling on that might and probably is off so forgive me on that. It means red bag - or more like a red envelope. Anytime a red envelope is given money is inside (I think). From what I saw, and this is just my interpretation and may not be accurate, money is given up the "tree" so the youngest (of reasonable age - not a kid) basically has to give everyone money.
