What I love about this is the way it showcases the drumming of Rufus Jones on drums. With a nickname of 'speedy' and with most videos on youtube showing him doing explosive solos it is easy to dismiss him as all technique and no feel. This video shows he was a subtle and musical player. But then, he wouldn't be playing with Ellington otherwise....
Wow... What an awesome rendition of April in Paris by one of the finest Hammond B3 organists and greatest chord men that you will ever hear. Wild Bill Davis not only was a great soloist, but have the uncanny ability to take play chords instead of notes, resulting in rich orchestrations and truly memorable and spectacular performances!!!

Wonderful, as well as the music he did with Johnny Hodges and Kenny Burrell on "Mess of Blues". Thanks.
