I remember my joy at getting the gold on this test, then my delight at finally getting the time under 7 minutes. I think it was 6:58:721 or something like that.
@maniak30000 The only real mistake I made in this lap was indeed at 4:16, the first carousel. The TCS kicked in too much as I hit the inside curbing on exit. Certainly there is not a second or 2 to be taken, IMO.

Your start was really bad, at the start you lose 0.3 or 0.5 seconds. 6'43.498 is a fast lap, but It could be better for Official Gran Turismo 4 World Record.

Thanks for the reply. I'm getting the driving force GT wheel for christmas - glad to know that it's not just a novelty item and you can get some serious times with it. Always found it really awkward doing manual gears with a regular controller so hopefully I can manage it with this (I drive a manual car in real life so hopefully won't take too much adapting). I'm ridiculously excited about GT5 coming out even if it isn't for 4 months.
This is amazing. I can't believe you've managed to stay concentrated throughout the whole lap (especially on a such a long track). I tried this license test several times and the best result was always a bronze medal, partly because I always got nervous in the final part of the track- just before the final straight and then in the few turns after it.
The lap time is perfectly reasonable given the quality of driving evident in the video. A 15sec improvement over a good 'contoller' lap time of 7min is a gain of 2.5%. This is a credible result judging by (and admiring) the VERY high standard of holl01's lap.
Your lap is so insane that half the people watching thinks it cheat in some way! LOL. Superb driving, and some crazy left foot braking ;) My record is only 6.56
Though I do see difference between driving with a controller and driving with a wheel. This has been driven with wheel and pedals. But the time is still freakin incredible! 24 seconds faster than GT4 team set as gold medal!!! Wow..My best time here is 7:02:XXX, but with a controller..and that took a few days to accomplish!

Hey nice driving, I'm pretty good myself (or so I'm told) ;) .... but i don't drive with the traction controls, so as soon as I passed this test with gold I forgot about it.... now, I would like to challenge you, license s, the test with the starion in grand canyon.
Btw my record in the ring is something like in the mid 5's 5:26-32 mercedes c9 stock and medium tires, no traction controls. cheers

Take a tip, at the start of the video it says license S-16. A vast majority of the licenses you are equipped with TCS & ASM. It sounds like you don't have the game with the amount of BS your saying.
Well, after 4 hours of patience and trying you can even do it with a controller. I think I made 7:06 or something like that... with a steering wheel I was 4 seconds faster... but i made a lot of mistakes, I could drive a few seconds faster than 7:01:926

I have done that trial and I know that car will only reach around 170 tops. You have just shown us the start of that liscence and the actual lap is probably done in a car like the Toyota C-V88 '89 and you have just merged the two together. even so, That is a damn fast time for even that car.

There are few mistakes: 1:24 - why? road is wide; 2:48 - too much brake, too slow; 4:16 - wasnt so fast; Maybe 1 or 2sec faster would be...
I think, you should try to do downshifts faster. Very good lap ;)

Hey nice driving, I'm pretty good myself (or so I'm told) ;) .... but i don't drive with the traction controls, so as soon as I passed this test with gold I forgot about it.... now, I would like to challenge you, license s, the test with the starion in grand canyon.
Btw my record in the ring is something like in the mid 5's 5:26-32 mercedes c9 stock and medium tires, no traction controls. cheers

Take a tip, at the start of the video it says license S-16. A vast majority of the licenses you are equipped with TCS & ASM. It sounds like you don't have the game with the amount of BS your saying.

In licence mode, you don't have any say on weather you can remove TCS, If there was an option i would remove it

Well, after 4 hours of patience and trying you can even do it with a controller. I think I made 7:06 or something like that... with a steering wheel I was 4 seconds faster... but i made a lot of mistakes, I could drive a few seconds faster than 7:01:926

I have done that trial and I know that car will only reach around 170 tops. You have just shown us the start of that liscence and the actual lap is probably done in a car like the Toyota C-V88 '89 and you have just merged the two together. even so, That is a damn fast time for even that car.

lol, what are you on about , ofcourse its in license mode, i just altered the screen to simple mode, removing the gold silver and bronze medals. Yes I have TCS, its in licence mode because the commencment of the lap was from a standing start.
