@8393JAF its just proof of how good music can span any genre. when he first hit that pedal i said to myself "OMG larry graham needs to record a death metal album!"
@rwmacbass Yeah, but he starts and ends it with Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor. That whole set with the Phaser sounded wicked. Heck. This whole damn video sounds bad ass. Love the deepness in that fuzz.
so if he was thinkin bout goin back to guitar...picture if he was to use a pick and how bass playing would be totaly different today?? i mean wow. im so glad he didnt
I'm not a musician and don't understand some of what he's talking about, but I'm enjoying watching the instruction purely for entertainment, and also the conversation among those of you who are musicians.
The Roland Jet Phase is rare and expensive. But it's a fuzz box running into a phaser. You can do a great simulation of it with a Big Muff into a Small Stone phaser. Maybe even stronger. My favorite phaser with fuzz is the MoogerFooger - keeps the deep bass and is very strong.
@Gurlandia The drummer's name is Kozo Suganumo. I guess he spends most of his time in Japan. I had to find out who he was because he definitely has the chops. He ain't sleepin' back there, that's for sure.
@emmettk Dude, the correct name of the drummer is Kozo Suganuma, he's a drums teacher and owner of a drum school in Tokyo/Japan name Suganuma Dojo. The recording of this video was made in Japan and the guy invited Larry Graham to do.
at 2:55 stands a kickass bass piece ! propably what a bass can produce as power and feeling the better. I'm dying when listening to this. this guy understood everything. I dedicate it to my friend Komarboss longlife to you Bro.
Not so fast with the claim Larry. McCartney used a bass with fuzz on "Think For Yourself" several years before you did with "Dance to the Music." Not as funky as you though ;-)
it's his own signature bass made by Moon, fitted with some huuuuuge sounding alembic pickups. I'd give my right arm for a pair of those pickups but that'd defeat the point :P
pedals I dont know, but I was on about the pickups :P and yeah I found the moon website and they say they use alembics. And yeah mr graham does have a way of making you go 'urgh?!'
he make me want start playin bass and i dnt even kno how
