if you mean do you have to be alive in single player to go online then no you can finish single player and be dead and still go online, hope it helps :)

Hey, I know it's been over a month but I can answer your question now. Really you finish not knowing, the ending being a cliffhanger. Did your character die? Maybe, maybe not. Great ending, but it frustates me so when producers do this in any sort of media. XD
so the whole conflict resolves itself, if either one of you is left alive, someone is going to want you dead, or someone will offer you money to do something bad, and a whole new series of bad things will happen. but if every single person involved in the stupid war is dead, then it is over for ever. (I agree, its kind of a stupid ending)
Because you both must die. Personally I thought I should have done the diamonds, so it ensured The Jackal's death, and the whole thing about "his body was never found" would make sense because he would have been blown. But do you still get the horror horror achievement by doing it this way?
@ray3andree if you explode the dynamite then it wouldnt be fair if he gets to live so he will kill himself to. and if he explodes the dynamite then you kill yourself so you both wont get to live. like an eye for an eye.
this is pissing me off,,, i beat the game and watch the credits but then it brings me back to the opening screen and it doesnt save it and i cant play anymore unless i do a new game its really annoying but someone HELP

I agree, i think they need to remake the damn ending. (they're both the same... just either you die or he dies) but it says jackals body was never found, and was assumed dead in the end... so i assume his still alive. ZZZZ i played through the entire game to just kill jackal instead I get stabbed in the back by my buddies, and working for jackal. im just blown away by how different it was than i had in my mind...
