try reinstalling itunes, i had that problem once and i ended up reinstalling my os, i think the problem is you need to find the drivers for the ipod.

Use quick freedom to re-jailbreak it. It worked for me, also if you screen is black. But when you have to put into dfu mode you maybe have to put into dfu mode many times before Quick Freedom will know it... Hope it will help!

Hold the power and home button for about 45 seconds or less and it should have a USB cable and a arrow pointing twards the iTunes icon

And for those of you that have a stole iPod with a passcode on it this gets around it but erases everything.
