Uhhh hmmm my wifes xd9 has WELL over 6k rounds on it my G23 gen 4 is less than 4 months old and has about 1270 rounds on it (decided to keep a log on this one) 200 rounds will go downrange this weekend. I do run a gunshop and belong to a range/club but I think the average gun owner probably shoots 3-6 times a year probably a few hundred rounds...the average avid gun enthusiast probably shoots 600-2000+ a year pistol and untolf boatloads of rimfire and rifle so if you average it I'd say a gun sh
I seriously disagree that 99% of handgun owners won't get to 5000 rounds, or at least it's certainly not as extreme as shooting once every two years. If that was the case then every Walmart around me wouldn't sell out of ammo almost as soon as it gets it. People love to shoot, not just those in the military. My local gun store is busy almost every night of the week and so is my local range.
All you have to do to fire a SIG is pull the trigger, the decocker doesn't interfere with firing in any way shape or form. I think you need to re-evaluate what you said.
Glock and Sigma 40 all day long for me. Love my Sigma 40 (and the price) more than my old Glock 17. The passive safety (or lack thereof) makes the Glock/Sigma design superior IMO. I always tell my wife - who is a reluctant shooter- that in an emergency "JUST PULL THE TRIGGER." No friggin safety levers, decockers...nothing. This is THE design for a nightstand gun for that very reason.
I think it's important to note; When I was in afghanistan we had some British security "consultants" for diplomats on our bases who all were issued Glock 17s. They had told me that the reliability was greatly brought down by the durability of the lower. One said he had broken the plastic on three different pistols. So steel frame wins out in my mind.
Love the Glock. It whippes everyone! Muuuuuua! Though, I love other brands, the Glock pistol is supreme in technological advances, big time! Love my G23 3rd gen! Will not replace it; and I am confident in Nut'nFancy reviews because of his experience!

@deadtofall666 That is not even close to being accurate. There are plenty of resources available online and at your local library to alleviate your lack of knowledge on the subject. Nutnfancy worries a bit too much about how many rounds you can carry in a single mag. PT 2. Needless to say I will not buy another Glock, and bu the way it's not the ammo. I use only new ammo, and Glock mags. It's been 9 months and the Sig P226 is still working well. I average 400-500 rds a week for the past 9 months and the Sig P226 /40 still like new. The Glock T35 in the safe and still shaving lead. My weapons / pistols choice Sig P226/40, my old 92F, FN5.7, BDA 380. Being retired , I spend 3-4 days a week at the range training BEA and others so 500rds isn't hard.
Nutn, PT 1 of 2. I bought the P226 40 cal, and on the same time I a Glock T35 due to a friend that was with me said it's the best weapon out today. Now with me not being a believe of Glock seeing lots of problems in training back in the 90's, without question, giving Glock the benefit I bought a Glock T35. Went to the range and fired off 400 rds on the Sig p226, and only 1 mag with the Glock due to shaving lead big time, sent it back to Glock came back still shaving lead.
boo promag boo. no they suck they suck, i have three different pro mag magazines and they all suck really really bad. for the taurus 99, beretta 92, ruger 10/22, ruger p series, and 1911 all have problems. if a company has 20 different items, and 13 of those items are consistently defective, and the company knows that but does nothing to fix it, you can safely say that that company sucks a big one. hooray for tnp. boo a thousand times to promag.
i know the sig here has aluminum frame, but for other pistols, i was wondering is there any disadvantage to having polymer frame? i'm not arguring or anything, just curious. like, does it make my pistol top heavy to have a all poymer frame, which weighs almost nothing, sitting under an all steel slide/upper which makes alot of the wieght? maybe increase potential for muzzle climb during firing?
@GhostInTheShell09 well anytime u have less weight your gonna have more recoil and as far as polymer frames go they dont feel off balanced at all in my opinion unless u have a barrel over 4.5 inch and even that varies gun to gun.
@MrCongate So many countries could learn from the Swiss model of gun control. Besides the mandatory service in the militia, instilling gun safety and the respect of firearms from a young age is a good way to cut gun-based crimes and accidents.
@dean10007 Unfortunately, this is no longer true. They no longer require gun ownership and do not require service-for-citizenship.
Their lack of crime is because of a very high level of national pride and largely uniform ethnic and racial makeup. Besides their very high standard of living and extremely little poverty.
@TheBattleSCAR crime i beleive in generally is a result of socio-economics, and i would rather teach martial arts as a way to learn respect and responsibility, that and i know if my gun fails i got 3 black belts of training to fall back on hahaha, but yea when i was young i was forced to do thing i didnt want to because of situation rather then anything else
I could not agree more, dean. Though I'm an immigrant to the US, I feel that some kind of mandatory military training, if not service, for all citizens would be excellent. Not only does it teach invaluable skills such as the ones you mentioned, it would also do the participants a world of good. Unfortunately, cost would be an issue, and I fear many people would balk at the existence of such a plan.
im sorry but Im getting SICK of people acting like a 9mm is worthless for self defense..this is nonsense. 9mm have been killing people for many many years.
I would trust my life to a 9mm just the same as a .45
@annihilationnegitive adding to this...polymer better than metal? seriously? i have watched an unknown number of your videos, and i honestly have to agree with you that glocks usually come out on top, even if it is the most moot point being made, ever.IE 1 round more, or 1 ounce lighter...ect. this however...is a mind blower...aluminum is very resistant to fatigue due to its natural softness (comparatively to steel). it is harder than polymer, resists ware better and is just as fatigue resistant
@Kylef7735 But we are judging the pistol not the price. A Mustang cost 100,000 less than a Porsche doesnt mean its better. The lower cost is nice but even with that sig is still better.
@TurdFergeson1616 thats kind of silly on their part, if cost was the only factor you think maybe they would go with the sig. based on the fact that the 45 gap is like 40% more expensive ammo. one step forward and two steps back.
@TurdFergeson1616 lol i am sure you are talking about those in power to make decisions. i believe that the departments should let the officers choose from a list of approved firearms in a common caliber.
@TurdFergeson1616 yeah i heard that, its still unfortunate, a person will always be more adept with a firearm that they are personally comfortable with.
pro mag for instance, i have bought three promags and only one works worth a crap. i hate promag magazines, they make other accessories that are pretty good, but pistol mags are not their strong suite.
Ok first off the recoil spring? Really? My God I was part of the testing team when we tested the P220 over the M9 for the Army. And we put way over 5000 through the sigs with no malfunctions! The Baretta had the fewest problems of the weapons that had them period. But they promised to open a U.S. Factory so they got the contract. But Sig was the clear winner.
2 questions...i got really confused when u were talking about the slides on the old and new Sig...i know the new 1 is milled, but is the slide from the old Sig milled or stamped? and secondly i'm curious as to how many rounds have u put in your Sig since u began shooting Sigs?
Really pisses me off when I see people knocking either gun. Both the glock 17 and Sig P226 are so good that it comes down to personal preferance, not which gun is actually better. Both can do all things equally well, it comes down to the skill and preferance of the person using them.
@sexyitalian891 I concur. Glocks are great guns, but the ergonomics simply don't work for my hands. Sigs, on the other hand, fit me perfectly. I'm sure the opposite is true for plenty of other people, but that doesn't detract from the quality of either weapon. I also happen to prefer a heavier weapon, but that's another matter of opinion.
@Spectre426 Theyre having quite a tune over there with their gun laws, people support what that old lady did and I think they are trying to get their guns back
Hey nutnfancy I want to say thank you for all the reviews. I recomend you to try the G36 E I fell in love with this weapon. i will actually try to go to Iraq. also I will be having the Jericho polymer 941.(side arm).
Thanks alot Nutnfancy you are really a good person. And wow the SR9 is very accurate. i am thinking about one.
A responsible gun owner should shot their gun as much as possible, and get good training. Shooting skills is a losable skill and that if you don't use it, you loose. On that note, I would venture that gun owners shoot more than once every two years. Keep safe and practice lots.
can anyone tell me i was told i think it was either the SIG P226 or the 228 i cant remember which. One is supposed to be a DA/SA with a non poly frame. And also which SIGS have interchangeable barrells so i could switch from a 40 or 45 ACP to 9mm?
Hey Nutnfancy, I'm not totally sure if you have been asked this or not before but what kind of "grip tape" is on that glock featured in the video? I really am interested in that feature and plan to do that to my own glock. Thanks man.
also keep in mind that handguns in australia it's highly illegal to use them for home defence. also - the 2 things i love about the sig is the decocking lever and the SA/DA action. second strike capability is great! but for us aussies who dont use them for home/personal protection - it's not an important factor. I'd love to be able to discuss this with you but i doubt you would add random people such as myself to your msn and what not, anywho any advice for the final choice between glock n sig?
@bmanrawk Since your only allowed 10 rnd magazines, and since you cannot use it as a defense/carry pistol (so weight isnt an issue), if you can afford it, go with the sig. I think it looks a lot cooler and more badass. both guns are great, but Australia kinda defeats all the advantages that the glock offers.
-cont as i was saying they had to modify the sig to accommodate the australian minimum barrel length of 120mm, so the barrel sticks out like an m9 by about 1.3 or so cm. but over here the sig p226 at minimum costs $1600 and a glock would run you about $800 - $1000.
magazines cost around 120 for sigs and about 80 or 90 for the glock. and ive had alot of shooters say that glocks arent accurate and that for target shooting they're next to useless. what do you say to that? and any advice?
@bmanrawk lots of shooting sport organizations are dominated by glocks. they are extremely accurate out of the box, and there are tons of mods that can make them even more accurate. people that say that glocks are not accurate either cant shoot or have not shot glocks enough to get good with them.
Hey there, nutn - huge fan - a bit of a noobie at actual shooting but i have a little bit of knowledge already. still trying to figure out which way to go - sig or glock. i live in australia and i've just gotten police permission to join an approved pistol club. due to the strict laws out here there are alot of laws about guns period. you cant have semi-auto rifles, only double barrel shotguns, no pump. handguns only 10 round magazines etc... - and they have actually had to modify the sig -cont
I love your videos and reviews but I have to disagree about the polymer frames being stronger than steel frames. The 1911's that the Force Recon Marines use are built on the frames the military acquired in the 40's. And when they replace any parts on the gun they still keep the frame. That's over 60 years of use one one frame. Thats durability.
Hey Nutn, towards the beginning of this video you talk about 9mm rounds and I feel a little confused. Maybe you misspoke, but I'm not following you. I'm not jabbing at you here. I'm interested in the 9mm and I'm looking for clarity.
I wouldn't really say the Glock 17 wins. Mec-Gar, Sig's supplier, makes flush fitting 18 round 9mm magazines. Adding a small +2 pad to it gives you 20 round magazines also, but are much less obtrusive than the standard 20 round mags like the ones that came with my Blackwater. My 229 SCT came with four 18 round mags. 20,000 rounds in 2 years through mine and going strong.
They're two of the most reliable guns made. Be fair and leave opinion out of the equation.
Hey id just like to say ive watched many of your reviews and i enjoy your insight as well as information about firearms and quality. If you dont mind me asking are you military, law enforement both? You seem to know quite a bit
Thanks for the excellent vid NutnFancy. I've seen at least one of the SEAL teams out at Little Creek, VA making requests for more of the 20 round magazines for the SIG pistols they carry. I couldn't tell you what the maker of the magazines they requested, unfortunately, but it does seem they like the extra firepower for their SIGs.
Cool video(s). I thought I might mention Sigs come with four magazines. Two 15 rounders (stamped mecgar), and two 18 round mags (says +Two on the bottom) and stamped mecgar. I've owned two and both came with the four magazines I mentioned.
My first one I bought before this video was made, so honestly I think as far as mag capacity, it's a close one and if you look at how much magazines cost, coming with four magazines, two being 18 rounders, is a pretty impressive deal.
he says"unless your stuck usin it with hollowpoints" i think he said that backwards right? in that hollowpoints would be preferred for self defense...correct?
Nutnfancy and all reading this post, you guys should store your guns in silicone socks. They are cleaner and less work for rust prevention than lubricating with oil, and they will probably save you some money in the end. There are stories of guns that sat in safes in Katrina, some with socks, some without. The ones without rusted up and were useless. The ones with socks cleaned up well and continued to function. Just thought I'd through this out there.
Can you send me a personal message about any articles detailing these stories? I'm very interested in learning on how Katrina should teach us how to take care of our firearms. Thanks!!!
you're right, my dad bought an h&k p7 when it brand-new in germany (quite expensive at the time) + 500 rounds of ammo. when i was born, there were still around 420 rounds left :)
i cant wait till i get my toy replica in the mail so my friends and i can target practice. my friends little brother plays air soft and he recommended this to us so as a thank you, we promised to play a bit with him after we practice.
I'm considering a sig for my duty carry gun when I graduate the Police academy. Everyone else seems to be going with glock and I don't want to be part of the cliche glock fanboi club.
I dont care for the glock. its a fine weapon but its a hammerless, double action only design and I just cant accept that. no disrespect to all the glock fans...
Actually, from my understanding Glock is not double-action-only. Glocks are striker fired single-action despite what the box says. If it was true Glocks were double-action-only, you wouldn't have to rack the slide to ready the striker.
My understanding is that when you rack the slide on a Glock, it only partially readies the striker. So when you pull the trigger it readies it the rest of the way, and then strikes. I'm not an expert, but that is what I've read somewhere on the internet, and it seems to make sense.

HLSOPS 11 months ago
Nutn, PT 1 of 2. I bought the P226 40 cal, and on the same time I a Glock T35 due to a friend that was with me said it's the best weapon out today. Now with me not being a believe of Glock seeing lots of problems in training back in the 90's, without question, giving Glock the benefit I bought a Glock T35. Went to the range and fired off 400 rds on the Sig p226, and only 1 mag with the Glock due to shaving lead big time, sent it back to Glock came back still shaving lead.

i know the sig here has aluminum frame, but for other pistols, i was wondering is there any disadvantage to having polymer frame? i'm not arguring or anything, just curious. like, does it make my pistol top heavy to have a all poymer frame, which weighs almost nothing, sitting under an all steel slide/upper which makes alot of the wieght? maybe increase potential for muzzle climb during firing?
GhostInTheShell09 1 year ago
@GhostInTheShell09 well anytime u have less weight your gonna have more recoil and as far as polymer frames go they dont feel off balanced at all in my opinion unless u have a barrel over 4.5 inch and even that varies gun to gun.

If you own a gun in switzerland the chance of you going out to the range (every even so small town has at least one) once a week is pretty high.
There are 12 years old shooting SIG 550 (military assalt rifle) etc. on the range and even compeat against eachother.
MrCongate 1 year ago
@MrCongate So many countries could learn from the Swiss model of gun control. Besides the mandatory service in the militia, instilling gun safety and the respect of firearms from a young age is a good way to cut gun-based crimes and accidents.
dean10007 1 year ago 31
@dean10007 Unfortunately, this is no longer true. They no longer require gun ownership and do not require service-for-citizenship.
Their lack of crime is because of a very high level of national pride and largely uniform ethnic and racial makeup. Besides their very high standard of living and extremely little poverty.
SirJarred 9 months ago
@dean10007 accidents totally... crime... i dont think so
lagook 9 months ago
@lagook Yes. It teaches them respect and responsibility, something that criminals lack.
TheBattleSCAR 9 months ago
@TheBattleSCAR crime i beleive in generally is a result of socio-economics, and i would rather teach martial arts as a way to learn respect and responsibility, that and i know if my gun fails i got 3 black belts of training to fall back on hahaha, but yea when i was young i was forced to do thing i didnt want to because of situation rather then anything else
lagook 8 months ago
@dean10007
I could not agree more, dean. Though I'm an immigrant to the US, I feel that some kind of mandatory military training, if not service, for all citizens would be excellent. Not only does it teach invaluable skills such as the ones you mentioned, it would also do the participants a world of good. Unfortunately, cost would be an issue, and I fear many people would balk at the existence of such a plan.

annihilationnegitive 1 year ago
@annihilationnegitive adding to this...polymer better than metal? seriously? i have watched an unknown number of your videos, and i honestly have to agree with you that glocks usually come out on top, even if it is the most moot point being made, ever.IE 1 round more, or 1 ounce lighter...ect. this however...is a mind blower...aluminum is very resistant to fatigue due to its natural softness (comparatively to steel). it is harder than polymer, resists ware better and is just as fatigue resistant
annihilationnegitive 1 year ago
New York state police use a glock 37 45 gap but when they did their pistol test sig won and glock got third. They use the glock on pure cost alone
TurdFergeson1616 1 year ago
@TurdFergeson1616 If money isnt an issue, sig generally wins, but when price is considered, glock is the best.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@Kylef7735 But we are judging the pistol not the price. A Mustang cost 100,000 less than a Porsche doesnt mean its better. The lower cost is nice but even with that sig is still better.
TurdFergeson1616 1 year ago
@TurdFergeson1616 If it performs equally well, for less price, yea it is better.
Kylef7735 1 year ago

TurdFergeson1616 1 year ago
@TurdFergeson1616 Yea, if you dont care how much somthing costs, then yea, sig wins.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@TurdFergeson1616 thats kind of silly on their part, if cost was the only factor you think maybe they would go with the sig. based on the fact that the 45 gap is like 40% more expensive ammo. one step forward and two steps back.

tac94540 11 months ago

pro mag for instance, i have bought three promags and only one works worth a crap. i hate promag magazines, they make other accessories that are pretty good, but pistol mags are not their strong suite.

TheJedi270 1 year ago
2 questions...i got really confused when u were talking about the slides on the old and new Sig...i know the new 1 is milled, but is the slide from the old Sig milled or stamped? and secondly i'm curious as to how many rounds have u put in your Sig since u began shooting Sigs?
Spartanwarrioromega 1 year ago
If you need 20 rounds in a pistol, sell it, and get a shotgun or rifle.
fayerz1 1 year ago
Really pisses me off when I see people knocking either gun. Both the glock 17 and Sig P226 are so good that it comes down to personal preferance, not which gun is actually better. Both can do all things equally well, it comes down to the skill and preferance of the person using them.
sexyitalian891 1 year ago 29
@sexyitalian891 I concur. Glocks are great guns, but the ergonomics simply don't work for my hands. Sigs, on the other hand, fit me perfectly. I'm sure the opposite is true for plenty of other people, but that doesn't detract from the quality of either weapon. I also happen to prefer a heavier weapon, but that's another matter of opinion.

A responsible gun owner should shot their gun as much as possible, and get good training. Shooting skills is a losable skill and that if you don't use it, you loose. On that note, I would venture that gun owners shoot more than once every two years. Keep safe and practice lots.

also keep in mind that handguns in australia it's highly illegal to use them for home defence. also - the 2 things i love about the sig is the decocking lever and the SA/DA action. second strike capability is great! but for us aussies who dont use them for home/personal protection - it's not an important factor. I'd love to be able to discuss this with you but i doubt you would add random people such as myself to your msn and what not, anywho any advice for the final choice between glock n sig?
bmanrawk 1 year ago
@bmanrawk Since your only allowed 10 rnd magazines, and since you cannot use it as a defense/carry pistol (so weight isnt an issue), if you can afford it, go with the sig. I think it looks a lot cooler and more badass. both guns are great, but Australia kinda defeats all the advantages that the glock offers.
Cheers, IG
IndianaGeologist 1 year ago
-cont as i was saying they had to modify the sig to accommodate the australian minimum barrel length of 120mm, so the barrel sticks out like an m9 by about 1.3 or so cm. but over here the sig p226 at minimum costs $1600 and a glock would run you about $800 - $1000.
magazines cost around 120 for sigs and about 80 or 90 for the glock. and ive had alot of shooters say that glocks arent accurate and that for target shooting they're next to useless. what do you say to that? and any advice?
bmanrawk 1 year ago
@bmanrawk lots of shooting sport organizations are dominated by glocks. they are extremely accurate out of the box, and there are tons of mods that can make them even more accurate. people that say that glocks are not accurate either cant shoot or have not shot glocks enough to get good with them.
tac94540 1 year ago

IETROOPER2010 1 year ago
I wouldn't really say the Glock 17 wins. Mec-Gar, Sig's supplier, makes flush fitting 18 round 9mm magazines. Adding a small +2 pad to it gives you 20 round magazines also, but are much less obtrusive than the standard 20 round mags like the ones that came with my Blackwater. My 229 SCT came with four 18 round mags. 20,000 rounds in 2 years through mine and going strong.
They're two of the most reliable guns made. Be fair and leave opinion out of the equation.
Thanks for the reviews!

I dont care for the glock. its a fine weapon but its a hammerless, double action only design and I just cant accept that. no disrespect to all the glock fans...
rllang01 2 years ago 34
Actually, from my understanding Glock is not double-action-only. Glocks are striker fired single-action despite what the box says. If it was true Glocks were double-action-only, you wouldn't have to rack the slide to ready the striker.
td84 1 year ago
My understanding is that when you rack the slide on a Glock, it only partially readies the striker. So when you pull the trigger it readies it the rest of the way, and then strikes. I'm not an expert, but that is what I've read somewhere on the internet, and it seems to make sense.
