I don't know if there is anyone out there who can answer this. But I always wanted to know how you got your increases in stats. Your stamina, agility, strength, endurance and so on. It seems like at 10 wins they go up. What I want to know is can you keep fighting lesser guys and sort of build up your character?
@LiteSpeedRC I tried that strategy on the Commodore 64 version and I don't think it works that way. To me it looked like it was based solely on your ranking and boxer type. So a #3 ranked boxer who is 22-6 would be the same as a #3 ranked boxer who is 12-0
I never could become the champ at this, and believe me I tried. I had a guy ranked #2, but I'd always get destroyed by Boris Nikolenko and the number 1 contender (I think he was called Sonny Robinson).
Did anyone win the title? What would happen if you did?
Is "Barry McGuigan Boxing" the non-US or European version of the game? The version I had (US version?) was called "Star Rank Boxing." It was the exact same game but instead of Barry McGuigan as the champ, they renamed him Boris Nikolenko. I think they gave him different colored trunks too.
Used to love this, but got World Championship Boxing which I thought was more advanced, although it was scrolled message during rounds telling you how you'd done. A the end of each round you see what a mess of your face the other guy had made and how much your corner man could make your face perfect for the next round. It very often wouldn't load though which was a pain. The tunes to BM Boxing though brings back memories....
AUDIENCE IS ESTATIC! HA! Not this audience mate. Always wanted a c64.Had a spectrum which lacked the colours. Thank god for technological evolution! Cheers.
Hehe finally a spectrum owner who admits that the COMMODORE 64 IS SUPERIOR !! :) I know I know it's dumb to start this discussion 20 years later BUT I JUST CAN'T HELP IT !

Some flaws this game had :
1) Audience sound reminded me of white tv noise.
2) you couldnt walk in any direction, computer was doing that for you.
3) You could last or ur opponent could last a max of 3 rounds. unless you carried him and made sure never to land any punches.
4) If knockdowns happened in corner, they would have to walk all the way to the middle of the ring before he dropped. That
s because they didnt have an animation for the situation that he hits the rope.

LOL!
The C64 was the better machine, my mate had a C16 and I think that was probably better than the spectrum too.

@onlineboxingdotnet hehe.. Back in the day, as a C64 owner, the rivalry with my friends back then was with the NES. :)
