He is "Flash" Gordon, not "The Flash". Flash Gordon is a Science-Fiction Character, while the Flash is a superhero.

This isn't the only character named Flash, leading to much confusion. Aside from Flash the super hero and Flash Gordon the space hero, there's also Spider-man bully Flash Thompson. Adding to the confusion, there was a dog on The Dukes of Hazzard also named Flash.

I also much prefer the 1979 Filmation cartoon and 1980 film. It's no surprise that this series didn't last.

The show is typical of everything being made today. Pathetic hen-pecked male leads and politically correct - let's make all the strong characters female as usual! Battlestar Galactica springs to mind. I even gave it 2 episodes but wont be wasting my time. It's more like Ming the Mincer in this garbage, he would be more appropriate in a shampoo advert.

Yeah, I like it too. It's not Shakespeare, but Flash Gordon never was. It's just good, clean, family fun. I can't understand why this annoys so many people.

OH,COME ON!! I think the show started getting better at ep 5. I've always been a sci-fi nut,and I DO remember the 1980 movie. This is just as good,if not better. That's right,I said it!!

Personally, I prefer the classic Filmation series to the 1980 film. It was so-so. I hope Stephen Sommers will reconsider doing the remake.

The hell?! Flash, all star football player still lives with his mom?! Does Canada have no shame!? Where's the freaking Sci Fi elements pf fantasy worlds painted in neon colors!? As cheesy as the 80's movie was, at least all the colors were eye popping and attention getting.

ppl hate this show because they are loyal to the original. if i was a big fan of flash then i might hate this show. but i'm not interested in the flash comics or old show so i love love love this. it's like when u hate a movie that's a remake of a classic that you have loved for so long.

Liked the premiere. I like the show. I am really put out that they don't have a really catchy opening sequence using the song. They advertised with it, and I was expecting it. Quite a disappointment.
