  • It is absurd because here in the Philippines you have to pay for your training or apply as a volunteer for you to gain experience. No wonder some of nurses chose to work in call centers.

  • i love nurses! lets respect them.

  • Watching this kind of video is one of my hobby and this one is one the articles that i put my interest with. Becoming a medical assistant means that you will need to be a team player on a health care team. Depending on your particular employer will determine what tasks and job duties you may be given.

  • Sorry some of you can't find work. I am a nurse and I have always had income. My hospital calls at least once a week wanting me to work extra. Sure, we have periods of low patient census, but they are few and far between. No, conditions are not always ideal; patients and their families can be rude, some get physical, doctors can be horrible (bad attitude, skills and lack of concern), and nurses can be really nasty to each other and frequently promote gossip. But I still deal & love it.

  • Being a nurse is one of the most crucial & complicated jobs... yet one of the best!

I just hope that nurses (in the Philippines) be paid higher, since the work is no joke ^^

  • I see how many recent grads can't find a job in nursing. That was the ONLY thing good about nursing, jobs were available. Now new grads can't find work. What a suck ass occupation, in 3 months I get another degree, then I throw my BSN in the trash. If I had a bird, I would use it for cage liner.

  • can someone help me find hospitals where do they accept newly grad nurse with no experience in New jersey California or New york

  • can someone help me find hospitals where do they accept newly grad nurse with no experience in New jersey California or New york

  • BE KIND TO NURSES... We keep doctors from accidentally killing you.

    The Sarcasm Shop

  • @spacemanfla hahaha so true XD

  • If the hospitals cared so much about their patients then they'd hire more nurses. They purposely don't hire enough to save money. They put work fit for 5 nurses on 1 nurse. No one can be competent in that environment. Working conditions (12-14 hour shifts, no breaks,passive-agressive behavior, rude doctors and other nurse and patients etc) are horrible and you will lose you health and sanity very quickly.

  • @purplefashion03 Thankyou for that observation. I ve been a nurse for seven years, love the profession but the attitude of employees ( slave mentality), patients, families, endless state regulations , workload ( putting lives at risk), rude and sneaky colleagues makes me wonder if I can continue with nursing. My health at the end matters.

  • For nursing resources and blog

    modernnurse(dot)ca

  • hello there., i`m a filipino, a student nurse... i would like to ask for some advise on how to be a good nurse in near future?., i also want to go abroad., maybe you could give some advise.. thanks

  • hi head23ache, been in nursing for 20 years, 4 yrs n phils and 18 yrs n Saudi, it pays a lot to put nursing in ur heart to be a good nurse and eventually an excellent one.

  • Great documentary on what it's like to have a nursing job. thanks

  • i can't even get into nursing because there are so many student going into nursing. 500 students apply for nursing and only 185 got accepted for nursing. in my microbiology class there are students are retaking microbiology for the 2 or 3 time because nursing requires a high GPA ok just image you have to retake a class because you didn't get an A but a b or c instead

  • I have a bachelor in midwifery and nursing and it was a big mistake to study that, it's not what I really wanted (where my heart is!) but when you are a nurse (here in Europe) you can be sure you will have a job for the rest of your life.

  • watch?v=WDeAA2QtJQk

Mercury in vaccinations...all medical field workers please make this information go viral, H1N1 mandatory injections.

  • Thought they took mercury out in the late 80's.

I'd rather risk the mercury than the h1n1, anyway :P

  • I like this. And also as for the last statement in this video clip, very well said. And I really like reading the the written replies to these videos. I learn so much just hearing other people's perspectives. Thank you for posting.

  • I read recently that the trend has reversed somewhat? Too many nurses, so salaries and opportunities have declined. But that may be regional....

  • I dont even think i need to ask, but there is a good number of men working as nurse too right? Anyways, are nurse high in demand right now?

  • @singhisking853 There is no nursing shortage, but of course there will always be need for nurses. The problem is WAY too many people are going into it thinking that there is this jobs left and right , and that's not the case. A lot of new graduates can't find jobs at hospital.

  • man nurse!?

    youtubecom/user/jMANhcc

    ;)

  • hi i wonder be a nurse SOMEONE caould tell me all about nurse experience and the kinds of specialities i could study to be a nurse THANK UU SO MUCH

  • I took up nursing because I like to be one... it must be our choice because it's not really easy to become a nurse. Regarding specialities, it depends on you. Me, i like being assign in ICU and Medical/Cardiac unit... especially cardiac unit because it's a clean ward though it's critical but you'll get used to it...everything will be easy then.

  • my mom is a nursing instructor she probably the strongest person i know and i learned from her and some of her friends that you never mess around with nurses.

  • well in truth i think he/she is including overtime, with overtime you can make 110 000 in a year.

but just normal working 40 hour weeks would probably be 60-70 grand

  • Actually, it depends more on what part of the country you live in. In California, RNs start at $80,000+. However, the cost of living is out of this world compared to that of WV where I work.

  • It's called an ASN when it's an associate degree. Its basically a license.

  • Sorry its not basically a license, with an ADN, your working side by side with BSN, and MSN, prepared nurses, your title is still RN. To have your BSN, MSN, APRN, your still an RN. For those wanting to go into nursing, start with your ADN, start your career and let the hospitals pay you to return to school. but to say you basically have a license as an ADN, is not true.

  • I work in a large inner city teaching hospital; so the demographics can be quite challenging. I need the variety..I need the fast pace...but I love the human interaction. Pick your philosophy early on in your nursing career and remind yourself constantly what you are strving for..it will help you become a better nurse...and more importantly a better person.

  • I am proud to have chosen this career path. I have been nursing for 8 years and never regretted it once. It takes a special kind of person to work in this field; you must always remember your reason and inspiration for becoming a nurse..that philosophy will help you later during difficult times.

  • Alot of people just go into nursing more for the money i think. Some people could care less about helping others. They just wanna get paid.

  • Well you have to care to some extent to do the job in the first place! Trust me there are FEW people who could really deal with the MULIFACETED nature of nursing soley on a volunteer or low-paying basis... And honey we are NO LONGER in the days of Florence Nightengale!

  • You couldn't work the wards/units if you didn't care. You have no idea how much puss, phlegm, vomit, feces, urine, blood, and all matter of ooze and stink you've got to wade through before "just wanna get paid." Additionally, Nurse get assaulted by confused patients & even irrational family members. Nurse who don't care never last long; but many end up in upper management where their "more for the money" attitudes often make the working world of the real nurses a nightmare.

  • I 've been a nurse for > 30 yrs(in the south) and barely make over $50,000/yr and pension ?? whats that? ....... I would like to retire soon and eat something other than cat food :(

  • What area do you work in. That is not a very good wage for Registered Nurses there. I am a nursing student in Canada and when I graduate I will be making over 80,000 dollars a year with full benefits and good pension etc. Maybe you should move to Canada haha!

  • dont scare me, i am still in college

  • Whats that nurses name the one in the blue turtle neck shirt? She looks like someone I knew.

  • I think you mean Christina Parker (if I recall correctly)....

  • This is a great video. Nurses are so important and need more done to celebrate them.

  • This is such a great video. There is passion and compassion in the voices and messages of these nurses. Old School nurses who don't forget why they went into nursing (a mission to serve and better the lives of their patients)--- deserve a giant sincere Saa--lute!!

  • I REALLY like what the last nurse says...I couldn't agree more! I see so many student nurses now who don't really have much of a clue about actually 'caring for' patients with their various and often complex needs. Nursing is both an art AND a science...the science is critical, yes, but the art must not go by the wayside in the process. Thanks for a great video.

  • Sorry but nurses should get paid more considering all the bull they put up with......so many patients, so many meds, so lil time...

  • i couldn't agree more!

  • @thendino1 Yeah they should get paid like a neurosurgeon who studied and worker 10 more years...

  • @thendino1 yeah they should get paid like doctors...after all there is no difference between a doctor and a nurse right???? Now Nurses can call themselves Doctors too. (Sarcasm on)

  • The best RN's with whom I have worked began as nurses aides, then were LPN's and progressed to RN's. The best doctors with whom I have worked were aides, medics, transport aides before they were MD's

The only job I've ever held was that of an RN.

There is an arrogance of self importance unless you start at the entry level.

  • so very true. I NOTICE IT A lot as a nursing student .I'AM GOING STRAIGHT TO AN RN PROGRAM BUT I HOPE I NEVER GET THAT SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT MANY HAVE

  • i've got a crush on the nurse with the purple turtleneck. does somebody happen to know her name?

  • dont kno but she looks good!!!!

  • Great video! If more students/nurses were to view it, it would help with the shortage and increase recruitment and retention! Wendy RN (31 years)

  • Nursing is the noblest profession in the universe. We have to deal with all sorts of stressors, and no matter how unfavorable the odds are (understaffing for example) we get things done.

Also watch my videos, I promise you will enjoy it.

  • Nursing rocks!

  • Interesting look at it takes to be an RN! Thanks for posting.
