  • Merton !!!!!!!!

  • Hope someday an official game like "Dragon Fantasy 2" exists where you get to battle both Kefka and Zoma in the same game! Or better yet, pit one another! =D

  • This makes Joker on the line : D

  • All this makes me think that is going to be a REAALY HARD Final Boss Fight(I'm on the 4th half of the game), this makes Genesis(P4) a little dance compared.

  • 6:28

  • Playing this for the first time at the moment. I'm scared to fight the last boss now. The theme and the bosses just freak me out.

  • I love how Kefka laughes during the song (:

  • In all video games I've played Kefka is my favorite villain of all time along with Lezard from vp being close second...They don't make games like these anymore...I'm happy I did not get to see OWA on the spot. I love the game and all, but all the hype around 7 is rather annoying.

  • @erettew Tottally agre Kefka and Lezard where masterpieces in the history of RPG's Villains

  • @erettew 7's storyline was massively confusing if you didn't pay attention (I didn't at first and could never figure out all that "puppet" talk until a few years ago.) but 7 was probably hyped more so for it being the first final fantasy on a system like playstation and how good it was. there weren't any flaws to it... plus it gave us side stories, Crisis Core being the best

  • @erettew Yeah, people will often rate Sephiroth higher in a villain ranking because of coolness and big sword factor (Well, I must admit he had an incredible background history behind). But if they just knew about Lezard Valeth from Valkyrie Profile... this guy was so fucking awesome, they should make a new show, How I met the Valkyrie, with Lezard Valeth substituting Barney Stinson lol

  • when you think of the limitations Uemetsu had for FF1-6, he did a **** awesome job.

Imagine if he had the array PS offered for this piece... But it's a hard one to improve too.

  • @Sylence777 black mages did a rock remake that is almost exactly the same except not 16-bit hindered... its' really good

  • The church organ is soooooo good in this master piece!

  • Why are final fantasy songs so long... It's ridiculous...

  • @Fireshrine The battle usually lasts the whole song.

  • @Xv31 I guess they didn't hear of looping o_O

  • @Fireshrine agreed. is this a final battle or an orchastrated christmas concert? lol

  • @Fireshrine Its brilliant!

  • @Fireshrine Dancing Mad does loop. It's divided into four separate parts that each loop, in fact, because the final fight is split into four stages, and the song changes every time you move up a stage, but each part is designed so that it smoothly transitions into the next one when you do. That's the main reason it's so long. However, the average party that is strong enough to face Kefka will not need to hear it loop.

  • @LordXemus

i just did ultima with that one item that let all my party members have multiple turns

(been a while since i played)

lol he died in about 2 minutes

  • EPIC.. just EPIC

They kinda skipped the second part of this entire boss right?? Which was also frkn awesome btw!!

Too bad the boss itself was kinda easy and all. In pure battles FF6 did loose its balance every now and then

But besides Chrono Trigger, Cross en Xenogears my definite favourite FF!! God i loved this game and now i feel like playing it again! :D

  • Oh love the organ XD

  • Comment removed

  • This is actually Part 3 of Dancing Mad.

  • :D YOU ARE AWESOME!!

  • Such an awesome organ piece! Nobuo really showed Kefka's insane personality with this song especially at 3:55

  • Such epic final boss music, just epic for a video game to begin with. Totally captured Kefka's madness and power. The Black Mages cover only did it more justice too!

  • 6:32...what makes this work a masterpiece

  • @TempestDacine

    That's Part Four already

  • @Promathia24 Indeed, my mistake, I meant to put 6:30

  • ...Pretty boring song :/

Must be better in context, I guess.

  • Hey, kid, how're those dicks up your ass?

  • @GSNRecords They're pretty good, thanks.

C'mon, what's wrong with my opinion? I didn't even say it was bad, I said it was boring. If that's what they were going for, a calm, kinda sad and nostalgic song, that's good!

You don't need to be an idiot like that, how about a simple "I disagree" ?

  • @AzureDarkGod:

"If that's what they were going for, a calm, kinda sad and nostalgic song, that's good!"

Just making this clear, if you think it's a boring song, I have no problem with that, [even though I disagree] that's your opinion...but if you think it's a calm song, I guess you didn't listen to it all the way though, lol.

Skip ahead to about 3:30 in the Video if you don't know what I'm talking about.

  • Jin Kazama!

  • Is Neo-Exdeath not on this list? I can't find it.... That would be a shame. Still, Dancing Mad blows it and any other theme out of the water... :D

  • Who else only realized that Kefka is a guy until the final battle, when his upper body is naked?

  • It doesnt get More Epic than this.

  • FF VI and FF IX are my Favourites,I do like FF VII but I think those 2 are better games.

  • never played the game but the "angel" in the pic with wings looks like a copy of lucifer from shin megami tensei

  • awesome.

  • I dont see why people think Kefka is a great enemy. For me, he will always be just a gay clown.

  • @raalw I thought he was Kaiba's evil side back from the Shadow Realm. *Shot*

  • @raalw Think about it, Kefka is the only bad guy in FF history to ever accomplish his goal, to become the god of all magic and destroy the world, which, although very short lived, he did accomplish.

  • @MaruKazeryu WRONG! Ultimecia completed her goal. At the end of eight, remember, she takes control of Edea and restarts the cycle of her life, thus effectively beginning the game events over again.

  • This Kefka theme is arranged nicely and somehow it has a sense of madness inside. In addition, this song is also played with different arrangement in the game quite many times.. love this song.. and Kefka's laugh.. Huh huh huh!!

  • ... only reason this piece is ranked #2 is probably because it's from FF... jeez.

  • @PaulosTheKing It's not 2 just because it's FF. If it was, then One Winged Angel would be no. 1 because of the FF fanboys sucking dry the nuts that are FF7. Listen to the music and really sink it in. It's a song from the SNES era, fairly well orchestrated and it has an amazingly eerie theme to it. I'm not surprised this song is no. 2.

Granted, I don't agree with no. 1, but to each their own. I would have put Chrono Trigger's Magus battle or Tactics' Izlude battle as 1.

  • I only hope that, years from now, composers like Nobou will be respected as the musical geniuses that they really are, and people will get their head out of their ass, and not judge it because it's from a video game.

  • @Setzergabbini I only hope that, right now, developers like Square stop wanking off otakus and make some games worthy of recognition again.

  • @Setzergabbini We're getting there...

  • oh, wait. never mind!

    (about 6:43)

  • the organ theme was supposed to represent Kefka madness, so in this case it fits the battle very well.

  • I absolutely loved this piece. The organ section before Kefka is just perfect. For me, it captures the feeling of doom and baroque imagery in the pillar. It has strong similarities to Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. Then, for the Kefka part, I think it puts across the insanity and power of Kefka. You don't always need an all-out rock/metal song for a last boss.

  • @Dansonism I think that a rock piece would have altogether ruined this battle. If you actually notice, there are some areas in the organ sections that contain Kefka's previous theme. Like...even though he is an omnipotent god of Magic...he is still as insane and impervious to reality than most would realize at this point, and how Kefka as a person has perverted the sanctity of the 3 gods of magic.

It brings out quite a unique feeling from even the most avid music connoisseur.

  • @Dansonism Proably because it's an almost exact ripoff of Bach's composition.

  • @StrangeClams YEAH DUDE IT SOUNDS EXACTLY THE SAME. I LOVED THE BIT IN BACH'S COMPOSITION WHERE HE USES SYNTH BASS.

  • @IAmScottReid Sheesh.

  • @Dansonism is odd that they used a similar final boss in the very next one but he doesn't seem as much looking to be "God" as Sephiroth did... Kefka reminds me of Lucifer lol... he's definitely more of a satanic kind of guy

  • Safer sephiroth is a RIP-OFF of God Kefka. nuff said.

  • all this time i thought it so differant

    and now its coming out

    out of this

  • This song is epic for a boss battle, which belongs in the top 10 battle songs.

Final Fantasy VI was like Lord Of The Rings. Great storyline.

  • @ErnilEnNaur

    i actually agree.

  • yeah i dont think this is worth of number 2 at all

  • Not all boss battle themes have church organs as the instrument LOL =) Nice boss battle theme haha

  • I don't get why self proclaimed Final Fantasy fans find the need to wank certain games and take a dump on others. THEY'RE ALL GOOD GAMES WORTHY OF PRAISE.

  • Not all of them. I could have certainly lived happy without ever playing Final Fantasy X-2.

  • True, true.

But I was referring more to the main numbered games than their expansions.

    And also not Crystal Chronicles.

  • I just love coming onto youtube and reading all the weak arguments people pull out of their ass to try and slam FF7 as much as possible. It's alright if you find FF7 to be overrated, but stop riding it's ass already, it's been 13 friggin' years.

  • I haven't played a FF game I didn't like...except 10 kind of...Though I liked Seymour as a bad guy. Maybe we just have different tastes?

  • i honestly think it's from both sides papa, the haters won't stfu but in the same respect the fanboys won't stfu so it's pretty much never ending

  • If only everyone had as much sense as you.

Can I, can I give you a hug?

  • @PapaChewie

LOL, i thought FF7 was good, even to today's standards

  • @KingdomRoxas1 FF7 is great by today's standards. :) I feel FF6 is an epic though, and has the best music of ANY video game in the history of gaming! Only couple contenders for that, Ocarina of Time and some of the Super Mario Bros. games.

  • @PapaChewie WELL SAID..........

  • @PapaChewie As far as FF7 bashing goes, I think SpoonyOne said it best. "I don't hate FF7, I just hate the people who obsess over it." I don't think anyone truly hates FF7, but the fanboys really put them (and me) off.

  • @cb52211 I can understand that, but it's a double edged sword. You hate FF7 fanboys, I hate people who go onto EVERY video about an RPG game and immediately post "I love this game, much better than that crappy overrated FF7.

  • @PapaChewie awesome. none could have said it better.

  • @PapaChewie It's people trying to make up for OTT comments they've seen praising FF7 as 'the best RPG ever made!' and the likes. For some reason people think they need to counter-balance the OTT comments with comments that over-spill in the opposite direction. Funny that they end up looking even more silly and dumb than the people who say things like "Best game possible".

  • @PapaChewie Although, I have to say: I have the one argument that does prove that Kefka is cooler.

Kefka had a tower made of people with Jesus on it. Done.

  • @emazinglyemi He kind destroyed the world too so yeah...

  • @PapaChewie you know its one of the best game no matter what, thats why everyone is jumping on the ff7 bandwagon

  • @PapaChewie Goes to show you how awesome the game is. It's so awesome that haters keep hating it for even the next 10 years to come.

  • @PapaChewie I just love coming onto Youtube and find all of these people replying to the same person. Makes me think he or she's a troll bashing genious!

  • If Kefka REALLY wanted to be god then he would have equipped himself with an Offering and Genji Glove with Atma Weapon and Illumina. Noone would have beat the game xD

  • The one thing that has annoyed me, however, is the continual selection of annoying effeminate or angsty main characters. My understanding is Square planned to undo this in 12 by making Basch the protagonist, but market testing in Japan made them switch over to Vaan. They've got some weird priorities over there, man.

  • Glad to see so many other people accept that the fetishization of FF7 is wholly unwarranted. Excellent game, but the character development, music, and sheer fun were no match for 3/6, which is still my favorite of the bunch.

  • i respect that opinion. I enjoy both games and agree 6 is amazing, but also feel 7 is very good too

  • Much of this music is taken from

Toccata and Fugue in D minor

  • now that man has some joker problems

  • It's a good soundtrack (esspecially for it's time,) but #2 is way too high for me. I dunno, the sudden changes annoy me slightly :l

    it's good, just not #2 :)

  • and i bet you think ff7 should be first right?

    ff7 fanboy psshh

ff7has many things that are overrated about it.

  • FF7 dosen't derve anything above #10 because the soundtracks wern't that amazing except for maybe the obvious sephiroth theme tune.) Im not a FF7 fanboy anyways. Im actually wierd and liked 8 more o_0

Nothing against the soundtrack, it's just not my favourite :)

  • The first FF character to have a completely evil laughing soundtrack. Respect for Kefka. xD

  • At 4:00 and on is just perfect.

    I think this should've been number 1.

Dancing Mad is everything a true final boss theme should be.

  • i think the beginning is also perfect.

Maybe a bit long and the song is not so much a game song as it seems more like a artform.

I have a love for music and ff6 has the most complex theme for any rpg i have yet seen.

People will compare sonic wich has nice music but is not on the level, although would say donkey kong is pretty damm good too,and metroid is also great in atmosphere.

metroid always had great atmosphere and zelda too has really good atmosphere music.

  • lol the 3-and-a-half minute long beginning?

  • that is why i say it is more towards being a song itself.

The classical part can be heard on its own without the game and be really good.

    That is what i mean.

And yeah,i admit that it is a bit too long, but they did fit it in just right to the boss fight.

  • you can't get yourself to do try something because it is popular?

why, you must be so proud of being such a nonconforming, selfrightious ass.

don't worry, I assure you it's just a phase you are going through. the rebellious phase generally ends at around the age of 16-19, but you might be a little behind the curve.

  • you're being a dick, y'know. if you really want to avoid the fanbases, then start with the first game.

  • I agree.

ff7 has too many fanboys and or people who avoid old games to make a good opinion.

They only opinion about ff7 and up and never mention ff6 ff5 ff4 ff1,2 and 3 nes ff legends 1 2 and 3 or even chrystal chronicles.

  • my personal opinion about FF7 is that it should have been the start of a spin-off series, similar to how the SMT: Persona series was a spin-off of the regular Shin Megami Tensei games. instead, it became the dominant final fantasy style, destroying the chance of them making a new old-school final fantasy. it's actually a really good game, it just isn't the best. my personal favorite goes to FFIV, simply because I like to think of Golbez as Ben from wayrift.

  • i think ff7 is mediocre

its not bad but not terrible either

  • not true. it's actually a well made RPG with a thought out story and complex character development, and it could have rivaled Xenogears as a cult classic-but instead, it became another overhyped piece of mainstream crap. don't hate it-feel sorry for it.

  • I disagree.

Cloud and sephiroth were bland, even when the story was concentrated on them,i still hate em.

i hate cloud more than sephiroth because One minute he doesn't give a shit and then the next he is crying about aeris?

WTF? barret and the rest made no impact on me,so its as if they don't exist and cid was the only one i actually liked at all.

The villains were somewhat better, but not much.

Shinra should have stayed the main villain.

Or have sephiroth die and for it to be tragic.

  • I disagree to your disagreement. they may have had some storytelling problems, but they also had some good moments, such as the scene where jenova's head is seperated from her body, or any scene involving the turks.

  • i liked some of the ideas, but the main story annoys me and cloud's story annoys me.

The game annoys me to hell.

I am so tired of hearing of ff7,that i would be happy to never see another sequel ever again.

  • @piromaniac9999 The storyline to Final Fantasy 7 was incomprehensible and the ending had to be the worst in the entire Final Fantasy series, barring none because it made absolutely no sense and was completely unsatisfying considering the level of effort needed to put down the final boss.

  • The story was also not focused properly.

It kept obsessing over his past and YAWN!! it was a bit dull in the end.

  • @piromaniac9999 Dont say 7 and up like the rest of the games after it were as mediocre as ff7... What about 8 and 9? still, my money is on six as the best one.

  • i liked the characters in 9 more than 8 and 7 actually

But i had trouble getting into it once i finished it once.

    I simply had no desire

  • I see.

  • 8 wasn't that good in gameplay,neither was 9

9 had better character developement than 8 and 7.

10 had a good story and it was actually interesting as well.

FF10 itself is about racism, being indoctrinated.

Remember that when you go to bevelle you find technology? Bevelle the city of the religious believers.

Then they criticise poor albhed peope and generalize and stereotype them.

While there are some extreems in the albhed comunity, there are also extremes in bevelle.

    its interesting.

  • @piromaniac9999 You see though, I am going to have to disagree with your statement that 9 had better character development then 8. 8 had amazing character development. It was a bit more big idea focused then 6, But in reality, All of the characters had there historys and they all developed into well rounded characters near the end. And thats why squall went from annoying, to a reasonable guy

  • i think ff6 still beats ff8 in character developement.

Even though i found zell fighting with squalls nemesis interesting, there was something about the characters and dialogue.

I also thougt the dialogue was very good in ff9 beatrix was really good,so was steiner and blank and marco.

I didn't care for eiko that much, and quina annoys me.

  • I agreed that six still had better character development. FF9 didnt have bad character development either. I just think eight did a better job. development wise when it comes to 9 VS 8. six still beats both of them.

  • The thing that annoys me of ff8,is the linearity

Both ff8 ff9 and FFX have linearity, and so was FFX

I think final fantasy series is already overrated.

The early ones were great, but the other ones seem to fall a bit short.

I didn't care much for ff8,ff9 made me laugh and had interesting dialogue, the childish manner did kind of put me off though.

I found zell could be funny, the romance part is a major put off to me.

Mostly because unless its done well,it can come out corny.

  • @piromaniac9999 FF6 beats FF8 in everything. In fact, FF6 is probably the best SNES Final Fantasy made if not the best FF game in the entire series. It's got everything, a decent storyline, subquests, character diversity, good replay value, and challenging battles (when doom + vanish got fixed =P)

  • ff6 is the best ff.

    Not far behind is ff4.

I think ff4 is awesom and damm the music rocks in ff4.

    It is just so epic.

  • very true i couldnt agree more my frieend

  • ff6 is more about dictatorship.

It is like the fall of rome or russia during stalin's era.

They are corrupt and misuse their power.

  • @piromaniac9999 I know exactly what you're talking about. VII and VIII (especially VIII) had many unbelievably annoying characters like Squall, Zell, Selphie and even Sephiroth (who I personally hated). 9 was much more reminiscent of the older FF games, which I really like.

  • I didn't find VIII's character's that terrible. IX is my favourite, still, character's are really awesome, hated none of them, not even Eiko. Squall is angsty but it fits him. Zell's idiotism and hot-headiness is entertaining. I hated Rinoa the most, half of the game time was saving her from trouble because she can't stay in one place without being chained to floor or something.

    Sephiroth sucks.

  • Wow, the picture for this video is the best character design of Kefka I've ever seen.

  • Where did you get it?

  • Why were you thumed down for a completely correct statement?

Similar to what you said, I doubt Uematsu would like taking credit for music he hasn't made.

  • In all honesty, out of all the final fantasy villians I have fought, the only one to scare me in every way, as a good villian should, is Kefka. The laugh, the dress, his entire demeanor, and disregard for life, and sheer lust for destruction, from Figaro, to the entire world, adds up to the most epic villian I have ever come to fear, and respect.

  • or you are just afraid of japanese clowns.

  • Naw... just Kefka. Evil incarnate, with mental instability, and urge to destroy all, and build a momnument to non-exhistance. Not death, not destruction, but a nullification of all exhistance. THAT my friend... is evil.

  • Yo, get some clothes son. lol Awesome music!

  • again i say, best FF villian EVER. But he is creepy as hell

  • what the hell, how did my comment get negative for saying that ????

  • i wish i were kefka, then i be a god, and people have to fight me, SWEET! at least i WON'T be bored no more, and everyone can see me, now i think i found one way to get rid of boredness! :D

  • We'll summon up some holy strength and banish u.

  • muahaha, that's right people, keep me from being bored, it what makes me POWERFUL, MUAHAHAHAA!!!

  • Unfortunately, you never mastered english as well as magic.

  • idc, boredness is the problem i have right now, so there is no other problem.

  • Comment removed

  • seriously?

  • my favorite rpg battle theme is probably the map song on Lost Odyssey. It get's badass when the guitar kicks in.

  • Ahh, "Howl of the departed" A very good choice indeed.

  • Kefka is better than Sepiroth in every way possible.

  • Depends really, if you're into batshit insane psychopaths, choose Kefka, if you like dark complex characters, go with Seph.

    All FF villains are great.

  • seph a dark complex character?

    lol XD

  • Well it's not really explained well in the game, but as for Kefka, his goal was pretty simple, he just wanted death and destruction while becoming a God. While Seph, well he summoned meteor to damage the planet, not destroy so that he could become a God and take control of the Lifestream, and if he did that he could sail trough space as the planet as his vessel to new planets and build a shining future.

At least that's what I get from it, it's not really explained well in the game.

  • seph's a cool guy ;]

  • seph was never complex, he just had serious mommy issues.

  • exactly

  • Comment removed

  • I totally agree! Kefka is by far my favorite Final Fantasy villian. He's delightfully insane and unapologetic and he's the only villian I know of who actually succeeded in destroying the world.

  • Indeed.

  • FYI, the Kefka laugh was also recycled in the game called Chrono Trigger, McNagah. Coincidentially, Nobou Uematsu also had done the music to that game, too. As for where to find it, I have found it in the dungeons of 1000 A.D., 600 A.D., in one of the buildings in 2300 A.D., and in both Magus'/Magou's Castle and Ozzie's/Binegar's Fort in 600 A.D.

  • To me, this deserve the first place. The Harmonic & Rithmic complexity of this piece is incredible...

  • Terra is the best final fantasy girl ever to me. I loved this game, very epic. But i couldn't find the dragon's den.
