Female here, and I'm in love with this commercial. Any girl here saying they are "dehumanizing" women is, and I'm sorry to say, is someone with no confidence or self esteem. The woman in the commercial isn't in a humiliating position, she isn't there involuntarily, and she isn't performing lewd acts. I see her as a symbol of femme mystique and beauty.
@facelessaphrodisiac Really? The fact that she is a machine who is made to serve and please the viewer isn't dehumanizing? Do you know anything about the roles women were pressured to fill in the past? Trust me sweetie, I have confidence. But I actually know objectification when I see it.
For females who are offended by this ad, ask yourself this... are u as attractive as robot girl? if u are, then why do u continue to wear makeup and wear revealing clothing in an effort to stay attractive?? and if you are not as attractive as robot girl.. then all theres left of you to like is personalty right??.. geez arnt u glad your not hot?
Only promiscuous girls who are ashamed of being promiscuous are sluts.
What is the DEAL with all the convo here? I don;t even know what is going on, but like...its a KICKASS commercial. Is someone offended by it? WTF!? I'm a black guy who loves this commercial, and never once thought about what ;race" the girl was...because HELLO--it's a ROBOT.
kt203805 stop bitching ur just thinking it over way to much, by what u say ur implying that heineken is just a bunch of inhumane, racist, sexist people
Some don't like hearing the truth about images like this because then they can't deny what they're seeing. One cannot help but recognize the truth when one has been taught what to look for. I'm a college senior - getting a women's and gender studies certificate along with my photography degree. I come into contact with images like this either through the media or other artists' work. Knowledge is power - you shouldn't hassle someone for using the education she has paid for with her own money.
Keep proving me right. Sounds like someone is a little threatened - that's what men (especially white men) do. Oooh scary black man lets make him a slave... oooh scary woman just might be smarter than us lets put her in the kitchen. Make your own tv dinner if you know how to press the buttons.
You sound threatened by white men. I mean, it shows in your bigotry towards them. I guess that makes you better now. Kind of makes you think, hmmm...is kt203805 just mimicking white men and using their tactics against them? Go and get that degree then, hurry along, you certainly earned it. lol. You should go for a masters in sexism and racism, you'd know alot about that wouldn't you? Become a certified racist and sexist before you start talking about the subjects like you know, sheesh...lol.
In fact, I am not threatened by men. If I were, I would be a lesbian separatist feminist. I'm actually very straight and very happy with my boyfriend of 3 1/2 years. I don't see where I am racist. As a white woman, I don't see why I am not allowed to point out negative aspects of my own race and culture. I don't see where I am sexist. I'm not sexist just by commenting on my observations based on my education and experiences.
You'd have to be a little of each to recognize those things when you see them or hear them. lol. Go sell your ego trip to someone else. *clack* THATS A WRAP!~ drama time over...
Instead of trying to belittle my comments try educating yourself. Objectification exists no matter whether you recognize it or not. The ads you support harm others - especially young adults. Paul Lester - Images that Injure: Pictorial Stereotypes in the Media. Naomi Wolf -- The Beauty Myth: How Images of Beauty Are Used Against Women. Vickie Shields -- Measuring Up: How Advertising Affects Self-Image. Look up Media Awareness online as well.
You're harming people by using your computer. You should consider not using it. You're choking us with electricity generation exhaust as you type! OH NO! what-a-world~! *melts and dies* Anywho, I respect who you are as a person, I just don't respect your opinion about this video. That actress gets paid to be "objectified" willingly. If she thinks it's ok, then there must be people that dont have your opinion, you should just accept that...
I don't come here unless I'm told someone has commented back to me. I respect that others do not always agree with me, but that will not stop me from stating my opinion. Hopefully a contrasting opinion gives you something to think about as well. I try to stay as civil as possible and if you respected me as a person, you wouldn't be trying to personally offend me with sarcastic comments - you would just state your opinion on the matter... but thanks for the statements anyway.

I was blown away by this commercial. It's a perfect example of dehumanizing and sexually objectifying women while restricting them to a domestic sphere (as a maid), but also criticizing the role of motherhood - instead of a child a beer keg comes out of her stomach. It's also exclusionary. Of course the robot is white, thin, and blonde - the ultimate Westernized ideal of woman. It's very sad that capitalism thrives off of the extensive obliteration of woman as human being.
Let's start with the idea that if you're going to build a robot that servers beer, and it could be any form you want, why not make it a hot, blond chick? Guys who think like this are Heineken's target consumer, I guess.
It's green, but who knows what the actess is, in some shots she looks asian and in others she looks white. She could be a combination, or part Native American, or just white made up to look asian, you can't really tell. It's a commercial to sell beer, not color or ethnicity.
if it was a black girl, orange hair, and the keg comming out of her booty, that would be considered racist. So it was done the most acceptable way for the target audience. Commercials are done certain ways for a reason, it's not to dehumanize people, because the commercials are supposed to appeal to us humans.. Would you have a problem if they did a commercial just like this tageted at woman? I know the straight guys that drink heiniken would not find a guy robot dancing around appealing. lol.
Commercials are done for a certain reason - to sell a product... and whatever has to be done - good or bad - is considered acceptable by the seller as long as it sells the product. Yes, I would have a problem if it was a man in the commercial and he was equally dehumanized because no matter the sex it would still be dehumanizing and wrong.
Well, I guess they didn't make the commercial for you then. You've made that obvious...Maybe you could try finding a commercial you DO like and express how much you like it instead of wasting your time on a commercial that has already aired, a while ago at that...If you really want to make a difference, get one pulled while its actually on there air or before it even makes it onto tv, that way...it won't brainwash us into liking something we already liked before the commercial was produced. lol.
think how much fun this commercial must be to make: you get paid for doing the robot! also other than her torso there isnt many other places to hide a keg of beer on her. maybe if you prefer, her arms could release beer cans and her eyeballs are bottles.
deep down, who doenst want to be a beer distributing robot?
@kt203805 I said to myself as a clicked on this video "Please don't let that annoying comment about how this is all subliminal or some crap still be RIGHT THERE", but lo and behold, it is. I am disappoint.
INcase you haven't noticed, they aren't dehumanizing women, you should know that they used the models to show that guys who drink Hiny will get the chick and that hot classy chicks will drink the Hiny. Simple. No sexism here, just capitalism.
Don't TELL me this isn't the quintessential bar maid! I have patronized 'em, fantasized about 'em, loved 'em, feared 'em, f'd 'em, been f'd up by 'em, consumed by 'em. This is her! Now get over here Honey & pour me out a Heinie...

Wow. I wish my wife could do that. At my age golf balls and water hoses are of some interest, but beer is a perennial best seller.
