  • I won an Albright and a Rhodes

    I write financial software codes

    But that's a challenge I've outgrown

How many yachts can one man own!

  • i WOULD have no problem with smokers so long as the smoke didn't harm me either. i have asthma and just being around people who are smoking hurts my lungs more than anything. wanna know how i found out i had asthma? i spent the night in my dad's basement where he was smoking and i had and asthma attack. its a habit that hurts not just you but everyone around you.

  • If you don't know smoking is bad for you by now, where have you been? These ads are really a waste of money. The only people comes out ahead are the companies that make these commercials.

  • this gen doesnt know the facts. They know is bad but most dont know what it does to them. like bad teath, lung cancer. thats why in most schools their tought how bad smoking is

  • this one is really disturbing. O.O

  • By the way, does anybody know what company filmed these "truth" ads, and who did the animation? Also, I've heard that Phillip Morris is the face behind The American

Legacy Foundation, who puts out these "Truth" ads. Does anyone know if there's any "truth" to this rumour?

  • These commercials were filmed by an ad agency called Arnold Worldwide. American Legacy is one of their clients. Phillip Morris has nothing to do with truth. About 10 years ago, all the big tobacco companies lost a huge lawsuit, and the money they had to pay out became the American Legacy Foundation. Truth is the youth anti-smoking part of the foundation. The tobacco companies do have their own "anti youth smoking" materials that are really designed to keep kids smoking. Truth isn't one of them.

  • Arnold Worldwide.

  • You see, I just love anti-smoking ads! Although I believe that both smokers and non-smokers have a right to smoke or to clean air, and I'm not really sure just how effective these ads are, or even if they are effective at all, the thing is I just LOVE anti-smoking ads!!

  • I love the banjo on this one too! I play the bannjo myself! Sorry to any of you smokers if I come off with an "in-your-face" attitude-I don't mean to-although I'm a non-smoker who doesn't condon smoking, I still think smokers have a right to smoke-and, before anyone deluges me with the facts about the dangers of smoking yes, if you read my previous comment, you'll note that I am aware very well aware of the dangers of tobacco, which is why I've never even tried smoking.

  • i honestly think people who don't understand or just don'tt listen to these commercials are completly retarded

  • Damn hippies.

  • Man, I just want to punch that stupid hippie with the banjo. They shouldn't give Starbucks employees breaks, cause then they go off and do stupid commercials like this one.

  • yeah, it is awesome

  • no one is even telling people to stop smoking in these commercial there just saying what will happen if you do smoke, its an awesome commercial

  • it's a lot different when you have a life inside you and you can chose to protect it by not smoking

  • I love this ad! Regardless of who put it out, it is telling the truth, and The American Casncer Society, The March of Dimes and countless other health organizations back it up. Smoking mothers are more likely to miscarry and/or have babies with physical and/or mental problems. Plus the fact that there is a connection between smoking and SIDS. Children of smokers are also more prone to colds, pneumonia, bronchitis and other diseases. And the list goes on and on and on....

  • Uhm.

The tobacco companies are mandated by law to make commercials stating that their products aren't healthy. Truth commercials are made by the companies as their way of giving out the honest fact.

It came in the same time that they had to add a warning on the cartons.

  • Not exactly. The tobacco companies lost a suit and the money they lost went towards anti-smoking programs, one of which was truth. The tobacco companies have nothing to do with the truth commercials.

  • Thanks for the info! You must be an ad exec or business person of some type! You really know your stuff!!

  • hilarious.

  • aww im sorry thats really, i hope she isnt as stupid and make as bad choices now..............no offense

  • haha I love this commercial... I was one of those tiny babies.. momma smoked the whole time she was pregnant..

  • My mom smoked through all of her pregnancy with me...she quit for my older sisters. But I was the fatty baby anyway XD

  • yet another truth commercial with a retarded song and dance routine. wtf!

  • but the thing is that this video provokes not only prematures that are suffering from second hand smoke-its also insulting premies in GENERAL! i think the idea of the video is great and enlightening, but to call any premie ugly and scary is a bit distrubing! =/ thats just me...

ps. this song is mahhdd catchy - =P

  • yea thats kinda true.

  • if i was born to a mom that smoked while carrying me, i would hate her my entire life. would rather have 5 minutes of "relaxing" instead of a healthy child.

  • Troubled childhood?

  • LOL its funny but bad its funny cuz there r elderly babies!!!LOL

  • It is a persons choice to start smoking.

  • but the babies they carry didn't make that choice

  • aint that the sad truth.

  • yes it is

  • this is the best sunny side commercial!!

the dancing is just soo funny!

  • ima just lighten the mood with tis comment...

yea just throw the damn banjoe!!

  • This commercial is NOT reaching out to pregnant woman who smoke. Its too late for them. This is to help open the eyes of women that are not yet pregnant so they dont make the same mistake.

  • Seriously Truth commercials should stop this if people want to die of lung cancer LET THEM!

  • i doubt anybody WANTS to die from lung cancer.

  • sooo say your mom starts smoking and she begins to die of lung cancer? your just gunna let her die yea didnt think so

  • haahah this is my favorite Truth commercial

  • Lol.....this commercial is so funny.... LOL....

  • .. disturbing

  • dunno how cig companies decided to put poisions together n smoke them...who comes up with shit like that?

  • i love these commercials and the messages they send..

  • These are annoying

  • Well lets get this straight to all the people who dont understand this commercial they are talking to the tabacco companies and the mothers who smoke.FIRST of all they are talking to the companies because there product is addictive. SECOND of all they talk to the mothers of being stupid because they were smoking while they were pregnant. They werent trying to be mean or ofensive. They understand that some babies come out wrong from mothers that dont smoke. And there saying it in a catchy way

  • The commercial was meant to inform people of the truth that the tobacco companies lie to us.

It's a wake up call to many. I am glad people are effected by this commercial.

  • Healthy babies are just no fun,eat to much and they weigh a ton.

  • I find this commercial to be extremely offensive. Can you really appeal to pregnant women by singing about how ugly premies are? A lot of very health conscious women give birth to premature babies, and their survival is a blessing. I know the ad is supposed to be using satire to mock the industry, but it lost me at "gerbil."

  • u dont get this ad do you? shame on you..

  • They are talking about mother who smoke during pregnancy.

Common sense should rule all else out, including premies.

    : /

  • These MAKE someone wanna smoke lol

Plus, I find them quite annoying

  • This is the best commercial ever.

    I love it.

Even tho it's supposed to be bad.

    But whatever.

  • these commercial r so funny.. but it also sad

  • LOVE these commercials, they show the dangers of smoking in a way that catches everyones attention and they've convinced me not 2 smoke

    my favorite is typo =)

  • They're using cartoons and songs to attract children to their message. They're no different than the tobacco companies that they rant at.

  • They are persuading them to live healthier lives opposed to trying a product that you will become addicted to and will shorten your life span.

It's just so damn HORRIBLE they give a shit, right?

They are using persuasion in a way that tobacco industries have used before, but the situation is desperate, and it is necessary.

  • lmao at da small dancing babies...but i wonder if these commerical get to smokers

  • I was reading the page of the sunny side of truth.. if you look at.. Who are we?.. its so inspiring! those people inform, and they claim that they have saved 100000 lives.. thats amazing!.. i hope i really really hope..that everone read that page..

the sunny side of truth are heros totally..

i dont smoke, but i have lost 3 members of my family for it.

    please .. re consider

  • it's actually really clever, all their commericals like this are. i mean think about it, these are catchy and don't they stick in your head more than the "it's like wiping a town off the map" ones don'tthey?

  • wtf

  • this is slighty disturbing

  • I hate these truth commercials. It's a noble cause but through irritating means. If people want to smoke, let them smoke. THIS IS AMERICA!

  • Well, a smaller baby would mean an easier delivery and a baby that weighs less than average could still be a healthy baby.

  • well u know smoke it up... gettin to be old and healthy is completely overrated anyway

  • this video is hilarious.

    hahahaha

i don't care what you say

take the stick out of your asses.

    stop taking things so literally.

    XP

  • It's just a silly way to say do not smoke because you won't have healthy babies, what is to understand? i dont se the controversy, come on!

  • yeah i agree latino boy, but u gotta admit those babys look kinda cute...still DONT SMOKE its the message...we get it

  • the girl in this commercial looks like Allicon Haislip. Can anyone confirm?

  • these commercials grow on ya XD

  • ughhh doooooood im freakin SICK of the commercials and that's cuz im a NON SMOKER im ganna send them a letter saying if u dont stop im ganna start smoking ahahaha

  • Wow dude.U totally dont get it!

  • ojuice your a douche bag you know that. these people are trying to get people who ARE smoking to quit and to keep people who AREN'T smoking to stay that way.

  • now i dont no who said the some women would prefer smaller babies but thats a dude if i c on the street i would punch him what a jerk

  • lol.

Girl in the glasses: "I want one."

  • this is the best freaking commercial ever.

  • Check out the truth's facebook page. You can see all thier Sunny Side of Truth commercials in much higher quality and check out the latest updates like tour dates for the Vans Warped Tour and Tony Hawks Boom Boom Huck Jam.

  • that guy on 31 is sexy

  • Okay guys, we get it. If you were born premature and your parents didn't do pot, you're offended. Okay. Thanks for telling us. That's not the point of the commercial, okay? The commercial is only a warning to those who are pregnant that drugs can harm (or kill, actually) your baby. So, there. Be warned. (I was born 5 lb 6 ounces, three weeks early. My mom didn't do drugs. I'm not offended.)

  • Also, I actually believe that it is partly the tobacco company's fault for people abusing drugs. Hear me out, though. I don't believe that it is entirely their fault. I believe that they open an opportunity to buy drugs, which leads to substance abuse. If there is less availability, hypothetically speaking, less abuse would take place. Hypothetically. But that doesn't mean that people who use drugs wouldn't just get them somewhere else. There'd just be less places to get them. My opinion.

  • "it is partly the tobacco company's fault"

Are you kidding me? It's not at all their fault. They did nothing to make you buy their product. Who cares if it's bad? Lets shut down Ford for polluting the Earth. Beat down Pepsi for making people fat. *If they didn't want it, they wouldn't buy it.*

  • I know nobody really wants to hear my opinion. I just wanted to put it somewhere. I think as it is, people should know that. They don't need a bad commercial to get that point. And if they are really that dumb then perhaps they deserve what they get.

  • Some people would prefer smaller babies...EPIC LOL!!!!

This is stupid its not the tobacco companies fault-its ur own fault. "the tobacco comany is bad because they make a bad product" Whats next going after pepsi for making ppl obese? Come on. Its not the companies fault that idiots do this stuff espicially when it shows the dangers on the damn box! Stupid hippies.

  • Good Point, Sir. Some people are smart. They know that smoking is bad for your health. They don't need a bunch of imbeciles in a poorly written ad to tell us that in the most stupid & infantile way that we think they escaped from an mental institution

  • or in an ironic commercial that uses the same tricks to that the companies use to lure kids into smoking. such as this commercial.

  • I read through a lot of these comments and many of you have great points. Before I launch into my feelings on this particular commercial, let me say a few things on my beliefs. I am not out to change the mind of every smoker, but I am all for people who choose to quit. I understand premature birth is a consequence of smoking. I believe it is a service to get the anti smoking message out. I hope this does get someone to think seriously about quitting, for them and their friends, and children.

  • That's said I disagree that this was handled in the best way possible. Years ago, Truth used the exact same quote in one of their ads. They showed the public pictures of premature and normal weight babies, then closed with the line which would you prefer? That commercial to me had a better approach to the situation, than a set of dancing underweight babies, and shock value lines. I think it is wonderful Truth wishes to try a light hearted approach, but as an underweight baby I was offended.

  • And we are under the naive notion that other people care...

  • what are the lyrics to this song?

  • I found this commercial hilarious...

The ones before it with the body-bags were way more effective. This is just silly.

  • I agree. Their "Sunny Side of Truth" Campaign is just borderline pathetic.

  • This is so sad!

But it is very imformative. I think these people are doing the right thing by imforming all of us idiots.

  • I love this commercial! Its funny and it warns you about tobacco. Oh and I was one of those small babies! yay me. 6 pounds 2 ounces and 19 inches long!!!! WOOT WOOT!!

  • warns you huh??

i guess having a warning on every packet of cigarettes isn't a warning

  • Its a funny commercial but you know what? People just dont care. There are women who know they are pregnant and know the dangers yet will continue to smoke. And not only that some women will continue to drink even knowing they are pregnant. And even further, some women will do crack even knowing they are pregnant. Some people just dont care about anything other than themselves. They dont give a damn about their kids.

  • Are you actually under the impression that people who do crack give a damn about themselves?!?

  • They give a damn about what feels good to them. Be it drugs such as crack or simply smoking. They dont give a damn about their babies, only getting their next fix which is where i come from when i said they only care about themselves.

  • ...........................=D

  • I love this commercial. It's probably one of the biggest reality checks in the world. That executive must feel like a jack ass

  • im like sooo adding this to my myspace profile

  • This is great! I love these commercials.

Humor has been proven to be the most effective way to get the message across, even more than shock and/or scare tactics.

  • I know the message behind these commercials, but this one cracks me up so much.

  • folks lets be real hear, enough of the "this is offensive" comments anyone who thinks that is or does believe in harming young "itty bitty babies" and YOU are the ones who are offensive. but hey lets keep killing children, there are too many people in the world anyway right?? why do we have to walk on eggshells for people who are compromising the lives of unborn children? the commercial may be in your face, but perhaps we need someone to be open enough to stand up and say something.

  • I agree with you there, but instead of killing children and babies, let's convince young adults and teenagers the bad things about having children. That's why I don't want kids.

  • lol..?

  • I can't respond to your comment because I don't know what I currently wrote because somebody deleted it. WTF? How was that insulting?

  • You wrote that people should teach teens and young adults that having kids is a bad thing. Something along those lines. Personally I think that's rediculous.

  • But why? I mean, it's safer then killing children and babies. And that's why I don't want children.

  • Where does the killing children part come from..?

  • Killing came from hating...Oh, I see what you're trying to say. Maybe you're right, maybe convincing people the bad things about children isn't the way to go.

  • Are you saying children are being mass murdered or something? Because the killing and hating part makes no sense at all in your argument.

Humans must reproduce to survive. We should NOT convince people not to have children.

  • Then how do we keep the world from over populating? I mean, sooner or later we will run out of room.

  • So you are suggesting killing babies? What is wrong with you?

The world is far from being overpopulated. I bet we won't have that problem for 1,000 years, maybe more, and I'm sure we will be on other planets in our solar system by then. No worries.

  • No, I DON'T WANT TO KILL BABIES AT ALL!!!! I may be the Devil's Daughter, but I don't like killing people! Geez! I'm not going to talk about it anymore! >=(

  • In repsonse to blue diamond well if the woman lost her baby due to her smoking she deserves to see a commercial as this one. Maybe she will think and not smoke while she is pregnant

  • Anyone else notice the actor who sings this song in this commercial is the same actor who plays the Harvard Freshmen in Legally Blonde the Musical?

  • The quote "Some women would prefer having smaller babies" was said by Joseph Cullman II in 1971.

This commercial was released this year, more than 30 years after the quote was said. Way to stick to current events.

  • wow someone really did say that

    thats sick

  • ahh the boy with his arm around that girls is gods gift to the world....he is smexxiness all around!!!!

  • I jerked off to this.

  • this is so funny

  • SAVE THE BABIES MAN SAVE THEM.Geez whats wrong with this people or should I say the women that are pregnant I mean what idiots r they if they have a child waiting for them n they start to smoke pot thats a disgrace. If I had a child I would take care of it like any other mother who knows the dangers of what a drug could do to ur baby.

  • That's right! Babies need to be treated as if they have an opinion in the matter. Consider if you had no say in a situation that mattered to you and someone just did it anyways because it's not like you could fight back and say anything. How would you feel? RESPECT should be strated BEFORE birth, they are people too! Treating the life of your unborn chid as an afterthought is disgusting.

  • A fetus is not a person.

While I agree that smoking while pregnant is grossly reckless your argument does nothing to persuade and only brings up an whole different debate on fetal "rights" versus woman's rights.

  • This commercial could be extremely offensive.

  • only if ur really stupid and dont realize that this iz an anti-tobacco add

  • Eh. It's quite obvious it's an anti-tobacco advert.

But let's say...a woman who just had a premature baby, or had one that is unhealthy due to her tobacco use.

If she saw this commercial, she could be extremely disgusted and offended.

There are other ways to promote anti-tobacco. They don't have to be offensive like this one.

  • Ok then. Why don't you think of another way to promote anti-tobacco. And make sure that there's nothing offensive about it!!!

  • any mother of a small or premature baby will find this video disqusting.

  • this iznt just about premature babies. itz about babiez whoz motherz smoke or chew tobacco and so the babies cant develop properly. so unless their baby is small because they did tobacco while pregnant, this isnt very offending to mothers.

  • i think your missing the point, this is to prevent mothers from taking harmful substances so the baby doesnt have to pay for it, this isnt making fun of anyone's babies and its not offensive to mothers, its informative and may help make healthier babies so the mothers dont have to be scared or worried about it. so what do you find so disgusting about this?

  • "Fit right in the pocket of your jeans."

That part had me on the floor LMAO the first time I saw it.

  • If you guys like this commercial check out the truth's facebook group. You can view all of truth's current sunnyside commercials at a much higher quality.

  • great commercial

  • this is the absolute greatest one yet...i laughed my ass off when i saw it on tv earlier...

  • OMG!all these long deep drawn out conversations...its just a commercial people seriously...calm down

it was actually a funny commercial

  • my jaw hit the floor when i saw this omfg

  • I understand how some of you might take the spot in a negative way. But I think you have to understand who it's aimed at. I'm sure it was never meant to insult parents of preemies. It's meant to get the attention of those who are too ignorant to pick up a book, newspaper or magazine and figure out that smoking while pregnant is stupid. It's shocking and attention-getting, but if informs a few ignorant people who might not have otherwise received the information, who cares?

  • They are specifically talking about premature birth caused by Tobacco and how nonchalant the company reacted to proof that their product was causing premature babies. Everyone knows that other factors cause premies. It's not something to get upset about because the commercial was not targeting all premies and they're families.

  • And I gotta agree with the sentiment of the last comment on the commercial.

"They said 'some women would prefer smaller babies?' What??"

Yes, my friend. That is sick.

  • Actually, the "gerbil" comment was, if you could read deeply into the commercial, a play on the heartlessness of the Tobacco exec that said "Some women would prefer smaller babies".

This commercial was a satirical play on the defense of such a statement, as well as how ludicrous it is to even say such a thing. Hence the hoe-down song about itty bitty babies being more preferable to healthy ones.

I think this commercial hit the hammer on the nail. That's why I like these ads.

  • The importance of satire is to lampoon your target. This add misses the target, hits premature babies instead. Plenty of jokes about small babies.

  • Actually, there's plenty of jokes about asswipes that would have the gall to suggest that a woman would prefer a sick small baby to a healthy one.

It's just a matter of seeing the forest for the trees.

  • this sends a good message to all people && really makes you think...if not ur heartless. it's trying to convey that smoking causes underweight babies so if u take offense to it, then go fuck urself.

  • These Truth commercials are just overdone, in my own opinion.

  • I, think this is great ya half the ppl are not goin to under stand but it mens that there are allot of pregnant mothers out there that smoke and noe the cause of it so i do gess that under weight babys r in now

  • I find this commercial offensive. My son was born premature, no smoking involved. When I see this commercial it makes me angry, not at tobacco companies, but at the producers of these ads. Our son was lucky but I hate to think of how those who were not as lucky must feel. What must a family who lost their child be thinking when they see dancing premature babies? There are better ways than this. to make the point.

  • My thoughts EXACTLY. I have twins who were born at 28 weeks. They never resembled "gerbils but not as hairy." This ad makes me sick and I've been emailing back and forth with Truth for the past few days about how offensive, insulting, degrading, cruel and heartless this ad is.

  • The commercial isn't targeting parents with premature babies. They are targeting the women who continued to smoke, and now have a premature baby because of it. x_x Did you hear what he said at the beginning of the video? Or are you just focusing on the part where the babies were dancing?

  • A third commercial, and now I've had it. The companies ads were fine before this cartoon bullshit came into play. That's where things started to go down-hill with how I like this company.

Honestly speaking, I wish they would STOP this particular campaign and try something else, but using cartoon characters is NOT the way to go this day and age. I'm actually sickened by this commercial in particular. Their first one was fine for a while (now annoying), their second got ridiculous, now just BS...

  • Well, another truth commercial posted, another bunch of people on the internet bitching about how the truth ads are trying to take cigs out of the hands of the poor, poor smokers out there.

Geez, lighten up, people. No one is infringing on your right to treat yourself to lung or throat cancer. The truth ads are just what they say, ads that tell the TRUTH. It's still your choice to smoke or not.

Now that that's said, I LOVE THIS COMMERCIAL. Thanks for posting it!

  • Whoever said this isn't going to make ppl stop smoking, I don't think that is the point. While you tryna act all smart n shit think about the actual point. THEY ONLY WANT TO GET ACROSS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PREGNANT WOMAN SMOKE ! THEY'RE NOT SAYING, STOP SMOKING OR ELSE... SO STFU I LOVE THIS COMMERCIAL !

  • i LOVE NOAH!!!!

  • i dont care..thats a funny comercial

  • This commercials are great!

  • Just let smokers smoke!!!!!

  • then they die

  • Disturbingly and eye openingly entertaining perfectly describes this commercial. Besides, the audience's facial expressions are pretty funny. :D

  • Horrible commercial in that I don't think it's actually going to curve anyone away from smoking.

In fact this commercial is so lame and trifling, people may actually LIGHT UP to relieve the stress from nearly a minute of absolute retardation.

  • the reason why they do these

is because if it were a plain commercial then no one would watch it or care what there saying

if they make it like this then more people would be like "wth?" and acctully pay attention

  • Saw this on T.V....but had to look it up on Youtube to make sure it was what it was.

"Kinda like a gerbil but not as hairy". Sick and twisted but fun and thought provoking..

  • This commercial is so wrong...but so right. AMAZING job at proving a point.

  • hmm...is that our aaron shultz from legally blonde??idk its too early for my brain to funtion

  • i think the ads are very good because they tell the TRUTH about tabacco in a positive, SUNNY way. Good ad!

  • such a stupid commercial. Truth commercials used to be thought provoking. Now they're just corny.

  • And you aren't provoked to think because....?

Because the morbidity of such a delivery falls on deaf ears for you?

  • I don't need the stupid song and dance routine. I get the point. Cigarettes are bad. Show me a cancer patient, not a carrot top wannabe.

  • That doesn't mean they aren't thought provoking. It just means they are distasteful for you. They aren't "stupid"--quite the opposite. It took a brilliant mind to think it up. It's artistic and brilliant.

That's fine; if you want to see a cancer patient and some tears instead of satire, that's your go-ahead, but satire isn't "stupid". The correct thing to say would be, "I don't appreciate this approach" or, "This doesn't work for me". You judge intellect without thought.

  • my nephew was a preemie...this commercial about made me cry, but I suppose thats the point

  • I dont think that this commercial is funny what so ever. I understand the point and that these commercial people like to push the limits and really get people thinking. The other ones are pretty funny, but this one went way too far. Having a premature baby is nothing to joke about or make light of.
