  • A bummer that part 12 couldn't stay up. That's quietly the best scene in the whole movie, with Piper Laurie's scenery chewing "The Sin Never Dies" monologue. I LIKED IT! Just an absolute tour de' force!

  • Oh my...it's like "peace...peace for the world" and then all of a sudden a hand comes out of the ground and it's like "NOPE!"

  • is my computer glitching or is it just the video?

  • well.... was all lovely and peaceful... watching the end of the movie, holding a cup of tea, next thing i knew... when that hand came out my tea was on the floor and so wasI Q Q

    very emotional movie...

  • Once you pop at 2:43, you can't stop.

  • the original movie is so much more complex character-wise than the 2002 remake

  • this movie isnt scary -__-

  • @MegaMissLeigh - You must have had a great experience at school if you don't think this movie is scary. Congratulations.

  • Anyone else notice her Mom walking to the closet, despite being dead?

  • @Hammotastic yes lol

  • carrie is the new freddy krueger

  • damn is she dying or cumming

  • @chickun1soup80 i was wondering the same thing

  • Would love to have the final scene song as a ring tone

  • they dont make em like this anymore

  • at 2:42 you can hear somebody open a bottle of champagne XD

  • tht thing at 3:34 creep's the crap out of me0_0

  • mind explaining...well...EVERYTHING?!?!?

  • Sooooo how did the house just collapse ???

  • @YoungSavageOyy Wrath of God. Or Satan deciding to show Carrie her Mom was right all along. Take your pick.

  • @soulcornflake1 WAYYYY OFF!! Carrie made the house come down over grief

  • @tepora81 Read the novel.

  • @YoungSavageOyy carrie made it

  • The "pop" at 2:44 is hilarious.

  • What is the song called when Sue goes to place the flowers on Carrie's grave in the dream?

  • Felt sorry as hell for Sue's mom. Trying hard to comfort her child, but her child is beyond her comforting.

  • so does the chick at the end go insane?

  • I felt bad for sue at the end

  • Am I the only one who jumped when the hand came out from under the ground?

  • @xxmiaxx95 Saw it as a little kid and I literally shit my pants.

  • @xxmiaxx95 nope so did i

  • @xxmiaxx95 idk but didn't i wasn't surprised at all cuz I read the book so I know happened so I guess I have an advantage

  • @caitlyin890456 hahah so did i! it was for summer reading :p im just a wimp i guess xD

  • @xxmiaxx95 I knows it's coming,, and i jump everytime!! lol

  • Um... The mother just made me feel dirty... lol

  • The hand coming out of the ground is Sissy Spacek's. She insisted a stunt double not be used to create more realism.

Also she supposedly slept in her "bloody" prom dress for 3 days while filming those scenes, so that it would look exactly the same between shots. With all that Karo syrup on her I'm surprised she didn't get eaten by ants! :)

  • I was like wait a min im missing out on some parts lol well at least you said something but why though??

  • 3:32 - 3:49 That figure is so creepy. Those eyes give me the shivers O_O

  • Has anyone noticed the car going backwards at 5.17?

  • @Doamino41 Yes, that's because the scene was filmed with the girl walking backwards. So, they later reversed the scene and put it into the film. That's why the car seems to be driving backwards.

  • @bubbawaba98

yeah I heard that too but I wasnt sure if that was just a rumor or not.

  • poor girl

  • When I saw this as a kid, and that hand came out of the ground, I levitated from the chair.

  • Thumbs up if you think Mrs. White had an orgasm after the 7th knife/potato peeler/spatula.

  • 16 people got blood dumped on them at their prom.

  • poor carrie :(

  • Carrie,you're the best!

  • Carrie actually killed herself. She had guilt and grief about killing her mother and what happened at prom so she used her powers to make the house collapse and died with her mother in her arms. So don't feel all bad about her, she's now happy as a beautiful angel while Chris and her mother are in hell getting their punishment. RIP Carrie White.

  • @iPebblesAm Yeah, it's good to dream but if heaven does exist, Carrie sure as hell would not be in it.

  • @iPebblesAm Do you really think so? I think their God would send Carrie to hell for killing everyone at her school. Would Chris really go to hell for dropping pig's blood on Carrie? As opposed to Carrie for killing everyone? I think you're just being a campy fool.

  • @iPebblesAm i don't think so :/ of she wanted to die, why'd she try to pull her mother away at first? in the book, when she was stressed out, stones rained from the sky on her house, nearly tearing it down. I think thats whats happening here. She is losing control through her emotional distress. personally, i liked the book ending better

  • 16 people laughed at Carrie :'(

  • @phsycozombie21696 No ones laughing now.

  • Listen to the sound effect for the arm coming loose at 2:44 hahahaha

  • @Hotts4you--- sounds like a plunger! haha!

  • This movie was so sad. Why did Carrie cry and die with her mother after killing her? the bitch deserved it for trying to kill poor Carrie. Stupid crazy ass christian mother forcing her daughter to pray n shit like fuck you! The mom pissed me off so much. Freakin' lunatic...and it made me even more devastated to see that ppl still hated Carrie after she died - writing that he burns in hell right on the place she died. Like, have some respect:@ But u know what? I liked this movie a lot:)

  • DINA RIGBY IS GONNA PAY!!!!

    amazon.com/Dish-Served-Tales-Revenge-ebook/dp/B004W82MCK/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1312396447&sr=1-1

  • 6:34-6:37 I actually jump!

  • Of course she's practically having an orgasm; she's about to croak and meet her maker--A dream come true for someone that fanatical. She's all, "I'm cuuuuummin'!!"

  • Next time I will bring a knife with me so I can cut the arm off..... Or a tzer so I can taze the arm or a lighter so I can burn the hand too.

  • stab stab stab stab stab stabitty stab stab

  • LOL, that ending fking startled the shit out of me!

  • stupid ass fucking ending other 1 way better

  • I cried. It wasn't fair for Carrie to die. =(

  • I have never been this touched of a movie before.

  • That doll that looked like Jesus and the mom looks so fucking creepy ! That shit gave me nightmares when i was a kid.

  • mom should have sent her to the Xsavior school of higher learning to yeald yer mutant powers it was the mom's fault she died like that!

  • Ironically Carrie had a special gift with her powers that if used properly, could have changed the world and helped herself but unfortunately she used her powers for the wrong reasons and ended up killing people because of her own demented and tortured soul.

  • Who the fuck will want to buy that plot.

  • @taylorswift091196 Lol yeah good point

  • This movie is beyond epic!Mixes the repression of religion with the torture of high school perfectly-I founf it interesting in most horror movies of this time at least one person survives/move on. Nobody wins in this movie-abandon all hope ye who enter.

  • Hello? Oh, Betty, thank God it’s you. I don’t think I could have handled one more reporter. Oh. Well, you know, we’re all a little edgy. She’s better. Well, uh, sleeping too much, I guess, but Dr. Schneider said that’s to be expected after all she’s been through. Well, he says that she’s young enough so that she’ll forget all about it in time.

No, no, no, no. I wouldn’t let her go to the funerals. With Tommy and all the others gone, it’s best we just go away for a while.

  • She dies standing on her feet? Strong dead legs she has... Isnt she supposed to fall down ripping her hands apart?

  • Honestly...she enjoyed her death LOL

  • When the hand grasped her arm....I literally jumped and there are marks in my hand from where I impulsively dug my nails into my palm in terror....

  • @littlestfan me too!! :O

  • LOL ORGASM.

  • THIS '76 VERSION WILL ALWAYS BE SUPERIOR TO THE '02 TV MOVIE BECAUSE OF PIPER LAURIE'S PERFORMANCE. MRS. WHITE STILL GIVES ME NIGHTMARES. THAT BITCH WAS NUTS!!!

  • Priscilla Pointer said in the special features of the DVD that the last scene was upsetting for her because Amy was so hysterical (even though she was acting) because it bothered her to see her daughter appear so distraught. So her reaction to Sue's nightmare was very real.

  • Oh yeah! Stab me again! Stab me again! Oh yeah right there! Another one! Another! Oh yeah! Right in the heart! Oh, I can feel it in my stomach! Stab me! Oh ye--*climaxs then dies*

  • @KittyKimtheBunny funny shit

  • 0:13 "if you love god so much how about i send you up there to meet him?" also at 6:34 "BOO!'

  • I hate the ending its soo scarry

  • @MJisLove4life

I LOVE the ending, it's so scary!!!!

  • @littlestfan lol i say that i hate the ending it but then u said u love the ending lol

  • The morale of the story is "don't be a massive fuckwit in school"

  • This is why candles are dangerous...

  • 2:44 someone pop some champagne?!?

  • eeeeeeeee

  • fucking telekinetic sound iiiiiii XD

  • WTF? She stabbed her mom with, like, seven different objects all over her body and it takes her almost a minute to die?

    Okay...

  • Carrie's Mom and Miss Carmody [ THE MIST! ] must of went to the same church!

  • I thought she was a zombie when the hand came out... Good grief someone reply to me if you thought she was a zombie.

  • @James1239170

zombie. i thought she'd returned from the dead

  • life with gruesome deaths

  • Carrie wasn't a really bad person. She was living a hard life without any sign of love.

  • the ending where Carrie's mother ends up like how thier chirt is really creepy.

  • AT LEAST sue has her mom whenever she feels scared...

    poor Carrie...

  • Thanks for posting this as I am watching it simutaneously, as the DVD which i've got going. It's a classic and not badly made for 1.8 million dollars. It was in my opinion Brian DePalma's best film. My favorite part is "there all gonna laugh at you. there all going to laugh at you." which was spoken by Piper Laurie.

  • I hate that Carrie dies at the end and what those pricks wrote on her tombstone. she lived a very sad and troubled life :(

  • @EdTV20 ummm it was a dream they didnt write that really... but yes how she was treated was putrid.

  • @EdTV20 i know. it was so wrong.

  • @EdTV20 That was a dream, and wasn't even a tombstone? It was a FOR SALE sign, are you blind?

  • you killed your mom, .....satan is coming for you!!

  • sue snell wont have to worry about a long graduation ceremony after the prom.

  • I dont get it. WHAT WAS the explanation for what happened at the Prom>? Also people knew Carries house went up in flames that nite too.l

  • That girl Tommys girlfriend was trying to do a good thing trying to warn that teacher when she noticed the others at the bottom of the stairs by the stage good thing the teacher kicked her out or she'd be dead too. THATS what ya GET for trying to HELP SOMEONE!

  • 5:16 Look at the railroad crossing in the background, a red 1967 Plymouth Roadrunner drives in reverse!

  • @Tundraboy05 It does look like that. It's probably something other than a Roadrunner driving in reverse through the background because that doesn't make any sense. But what made you notice that in the first place?

  • @kendigjl The scene was filmed in reverse, and the car is a movie mistake.

  • @Tundraboy05 Actually, it's slightly more complicated than that. Amy Irving was actually walking backward when they shot the scene, and then they reversed the film so it looked like she was walking forward, to give it a dreamlike effect.

  • Not only is this sequence disturbingly scary, it is also sad and moving, because of the terrible choice Carrie made to die along with her mother.

  • <3

  • Mother and daughter (last scene of the nightmare sequence) Priscilla Poynter and Amy Irving are real-life Mother and daughter.

  • Sissy attended Quitman High School (Texas USA) and was homecoming queen. She also was Nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for this role (won National Society of Film Critics Awards, USA and Special Mention at Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival) and finally won Oscar with "Coal Miner's Daughter."

  • @laylacalif

I couldn't have imagined an actress better suited for this role than Sissy Spacek. She's got that uber-shy, uber-fragile and ethereal appearance which suited her perfectly (at least, she did back then).

  • ah!!!! scared hand!!!!!

  • lol todays my prom

  • lol

    at the beginning

Tararam -OHHH Tararam - AHHHHH - Tararam -OWWWWHHH

  • sexy death

  • Is it just me or did the mum die with a smile on her face? Creepy...

  • sounds like an orgasm..

  • @koosmangat LOL I KNOW RIGHT? THE MOM SOUNDED LIKE SHE HAD A GREAT CLIMAX HAHAHAHAHA

  • @koosmangat

i was thinking the same thing.

thats probably what they meant to do. that crazy women was holding all her sexuality in so long, when those knoves hit her, it was the first time she actually felt something!!!!

its a shame how our sexuality is so messed up.

i blame religion for demonizing sex. before that people were free and unashamed of their humanness.

  • @koosmangat someone was muffing her out under that dress

  • man this movie scared the shit out of me when i was little and I stayed next to a grave yard too man i used to see some strange shit in that grave yard every night the crazy shit i seen was on rainy nights im glad i moved out . also the weird part in this movie was that the mom died like the little statue they showed

  • man this movie scared the shit out of me when i was little i like how the . the weird part was that the mom died like the statue

  • that crucifix looked possessed...

  • could anyone explain me the signification behind the glowing of st sebastian statue

  • The very end scene with the flowers and the hand comming out of the ground scared the crap out of me when I saw this movie for the first time as a kid.

  • Take me back to a time when cinema was magic and had a life of it's own and that film had had real subtlety and meaning unlike today's crap.

Where in the world did it all go wrong? Allow me to elaborate: Money Hungry egos, talentless crap (i.e Justin Bieber) and above all else commercialism.

If only I could turn back the hands of time, I would do anything to relive those times that were so special than what we have to accept what we have to deal with now!

  • Errrr there was alot of scenes in here that was not included from the book and i swear thats not how carrie dies!!! :S still it was an amazing movie to watch!!! <3

  • did carrie die cuz of that big brick that fell n banged on her head? looks soooo painful

  • @xxsuzaxx Yeah, it was supposed to be just like in the book where all these rocks and boulders would destroy the house, but the stones didn't show up on film, so they had the house burned down

  • every time john travolta came onscreen i had an urge to scream "get da shot!!!"

  • @Lyn7721

thanks for replying and the info.

  • was there eys n extra hair o nthe crucifix of jesus

  • i don't care what people say i liked the remakes ending alot more

  • @TheAntvark What I liked about the remake's ending and not really this one was that Carrie lived, but I felt there was more emotion in this one though.

  • yeah carrie lives along!!!!!!

  • the firstt time i saw that movie i remember I nearly flew up threw the cieling in the theatre it scared me so bad sheesh but its a good movie

  • is the woman dying or having an orgasm?????

  • @cutieEOM LAMO!! maybe both lol ew

  • @cutieEOM LOL to women

  • :_(

  • how did the house fall down like that

  • @xxsuzaxx Carrie was extremely upset and distressed so her powers got out of control.

  • @ThinkPink866 No, the candles burned the house down.

  • @Tundraboy05 Well, yeah, but because of her telekenisis the house started to collapse. With the house shaking the candles fell which burnt the house down.

  • @ThinkPink866 Her telekinesis had nothing to do with it, Margret's candles were left burning for almost 5 hours since and before Carrie arrived from the prom. In one of the scenes, the living room window burst into flames, proving Carrie did not partake in the collapse of her house.

  • @Tundraboy05 Wrong. Candles don't make the roof of a house collapse -- Carrie did it, but probably unconsciously. Originally, stones were supposed to fall upon the house to tie in with a deleted scene at the beginning of the movie but they couldn't get the effects to work properly so they abandoned that idea. The stones at the beginning of the movie were smaller because she was a little girl and less aware of her powers, and the stones at the end were to be large enough to destroy the house.

  • @egglady Wrong? Constant heat from candles don't cause structural integration damage within.. structures?

How could she have done it unconsciously if she was pulling Margaret off of the wall?

  • @Tundraboy05 I hardly think that candles burning for a couple hours would cause a house to collapse, even that many burning at once. If that were true then churches would burn to the ground. ;)

Uh, you can do many things UNCONSCIOUSLY while doing other things. Her anguish combined with the energy she had just exerted to kill her mother, caused her powers to go further out of control and the house collapsed. The candles caught the house on fire because they were knocked over by the debris.

  • @egglady How do you know they don't extinguish the candles and then reignite them between services in the churches? :D

Did you happen to notice the hundreds of candles literally bordering the camera frame as Carrie was holding her Mother?

    Besides, explain 2:57.

  • @Tundraboy05 Yes. The candles were knocked over when the house began to collapse, setting the house on fire as it was caving already caving in.

  • @egglady So, the candles did take part in the extermination of the house.

  • @Tundraboy05 Sure. But they weren't the CAUSE of it. ;)

  • @Tundraboy05 Also, the director and writer basically said in interviews that Carrie caused the stones to fall on the house. While the stones were cut out of the movie, I'm pretty sure the meaning of the scene remained the same.

  • @Tundraboy05 One more thing I forgot to mention -- as she pulls the knife out of her mother's hand and screams, the same music that played whenever she used her powers through the entire movie (the Psycho strings) was playing. So basically, that proves that she did it, though I'm sure she wasn't in control like she was at the prom because she looked surprised when the roof began to cave in.

  • @egglady Though, we're partially correct:

    2:50 and 2:57.

You said her telekinesis partook in the collapse of her home, as well as my inclusion of the fact that Margret lit hundreds of candles while Carrie was at the prom, came home, practically killed Margaret and then destroyed her own home, with the help of Margret's candles already intensely heating the interior structure.

Either way, we're both partially correct.

  • @egglady Correct. Her Telekinesis is not solely controlled by mind but partly by her emotions, as well. There are moments where things occur involuntarily, like when the bulb shatters in the showers or when she flips the ash tray over at the principal's office. Those instances throughout are foreshadowing her bringing about her own demise at the end. That emotional intensity of having killed the only person she cared about sets off the unstoppable chain of events that culminate in that pit.

  • @xxsuzaxx No she wasn't, the candles that Margaret left in the house burned the house down.

  • 0:15

    ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY!!!!

  • Oh I Get It. When The Mom Dies She Looks Like Jesus Did Hanging From The Cross. Oh, The Irony..

  • Carrie wasn't in hell. Everybody else was. And the endless nightmare of horrible thoughts. That was her hell. So yes Carrie let her live. But tortured her for the rest of her life........through dreams.

  • What no one seems to understand is that Carrie brought the house down herself! Do you really think she could have lived happily let alone mentaly stable after she killed a whole school and her mother? Her dieing was a much kinder ending then having her live.

  • 6:20. I think it's just awful that Carrie would be in hell since her life was already horrible!

  • as MCR says... we'l carrie on! Carrie ooon!
