  • I was confused on what turntables would be good for me, and these look amazing... I was debating on denon hs 5500 but realized they are pretty crap for scratching. How much is this set up (not including the records), just the tables and mixer w coffin cases

  • what case are you using??

  • In my opinion these stanton str8-150 do have some serious durability issues and YES i do own a pair the tone arm on both of my decks are loose at the top gimble and the 45rpm button playing up already you have to press it hard to use, also platter stop thay rock back n forth a little check my vid out drop your opinion id go for Techincs 1200/10 any day of the week and YES i do own a pair for over 20 years not a single problem with them pitch is still spot on faders ect,Rock Solid Built Like Tanks

  • @SoundOut260 That's unusual for these decks, except the loose gimbal. You can get a jewler's screwdriver kit from most hardware stores to tighten the screws on the tonearm gimbal. I did that and it's good as new.

  • do they work with serato?

  • Hey I know I may sound ignorant here, but I would like to start djing and I do not know much about it. I want to get a pair of Stanton STR8s and a fair mixer but I don't really understand how the songs work. Like when using a computer, do you have to have the same songs on the records do you you just play it through the mixer and just scratch with blank records? I really don't understand..

  • @andrewmusic95 It depends what you want to do. Most DJs nowadays use the turntables as controllers. For this, you need a pair of time code records (like Serato Scratch Live, MixVibes, Traktor, etc.) which are about $15-20 each. These records work with other software as well like xwax and Mixxx. Then you hook the decks into a sound card with phono inputs. The computer reads the time code and adjusts the music accordingly, outputting it to an output either on the on-board or external sound card.

  • @PegasusRPG Hey Pegasus. I have a question... I am DJ Beginner and i have a mixer already and planning on buying two good Vinyl Players... in my mind are teh Numark TTX USB, Technics SK 1210 mk2 and this stanton... which one would you say is the best if i wanna turn the tables oldschool ? Just a mixer + 2 turntables and original records. I am caught between the numark and this stanton. already decided not to buy the technics. Any help ?

  • @lambofgod94 The Stantons have more features, torque and weight than the Technics, and better build quality than the Numark, about equal to Technics. So for the money, I recommend the Stantons hands-down. The only thing is you have to choose if you want a straight or S-shaped tonearm. (The Numark comes with both.)

  • @PegasusRPG Hm okay, so the Technics is out of sight for me (since its too expensive for what he is giving me) the point about the numark is that it also has USB connection possibility which this one hear has not, and since i am beginner, i find the BPM Counter of the Numark quite attractive (i wanna mix techno from 124-139 bpm ONLY) Can I buy for the stanton the S and the Straight for changing em?

  • @lambofgod94 All analog turntables work with time code records so you'll be fine there no matter which deck you choose. The Numark's USB connection could also be used as a time code input as well, so that's an advantage. You can buy a spare Stanton S or straight arm but you have to open the deck to change it. The advantage is that the needle is always correctly aligned. I have Numark X² decks as well and there's a little bit of play in the replaceable tonearm connection.

  • @PegasusRPG Hm okay, as long as i can also use the Stantons for Timecode some day... Are you saying now, that its more complicate to change the tonearm of the stanton or the numark? what tonearm (Straigt or S) would you recommend me for playing 124-140 bpm Techno(i am not much of scratching its more important that the needle aint jumpin and its playing flawless)? is it easy to change the needle of the Stanton when its not working anymore or does it exchange easily ?

  • @lambofgod94 Changing the arm on the Stantons is way more complicated. On the Numark, it's just unscrew, plug in, screw in. S-shaped is best for best sound quality, straight is best for groove-holding (so scratching.) But honestly, unless you're playing classical or archiving vinyl, the straight arm is likely what you'll prefer.

  • @PegasusRPG Hmz okay :S Thats quite annoying, especially when the tonearm gets somehow destroyed :S Can i Choose between the 2 arms when i am purchasing the stanton? Because then i would still use the S-Shaped since i am all for better quality and not much of a scratcher! on the other hand i gotta see that the Stanton is like 489€ and the Numark is 569... Well, then i am gonna stick with the Stanton Vinyl Player :) is there a manual with the stanton that explains how changing the arm?

  • @lambofgod94 Yes you can choose. Buy the STR8-150 for the straight arm and the ST-150 for the S-shaped one. Replacing the tonearm is a repair procedure so you'd need to contact Stanton support for the details. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it unless it breaks.

  • @PegasusRPG Thanks for the answers so far but i ve a few more if i aint annoying ya. First of all, Is there a problem if i would be havin one Stanton STR8-150 and one ST-150 ? or is better to have two with the same arms ? Second of all concerning timecode. I am having a Behringer DDM4000 Mixer with midi plugin, so i can connect it to my computer via Midi-USB Cable, do i still need a in between Interface to use Timecode or is that implied with the fact that the mixer is already a midi interface ?

  • @lambofgod94 No problem having one of each if that works for you. The time code works over the audio lines so you will still need an audio interface to hook the turntables through. However, it doesn't have to have phono inputs since the ST(R8)-150s can output line level. But if you're going to get into computer DJing soon, I would look at getting a MIDI controller instead of turntables.

  • @PegasusRPG Hm yeah i was just wondering if there is any problem with the sound or quality of it when using 2 different arms! thx so far. I know what ya mean by midi controller the point is, that i got quite some vinyls which i wanna play oldskool some time on the other hand i wanna have the possibility to also use timecode. IS there a cheap and good audio controller that you can recommend me ? is there anything else i would need then (except for TC Vinyl and Traktor/VDJ/DJ Desk)?

  • @lambofgod94 The Electrix Ebox-44 is a good 4-in and4-out audio interface for $99. I would also recommend SSL control records and Mixxx DJ software (v1.10 has improved vinyl control.) If you're on Linux, check out xwax.

  • @PegasusRPG Okay, so 1 Mixer, 2x TTs, Charging the 2 TTs to the mixer, the Mixer to the Electrix Box by using the Inputs, the Outputs connecting to the computer, putting the Switch on "Phono", putting the SSL Control Records on the 2x TTs, and applying the Mixxx DJ Software to the Electrix Ebox-44 Device and then everything should work with timecode?

  • @lambofgod94 Not quite. The TTs would go straight to the Ebox inputs. The Ebox outputs would go to the analog mixer. Then in Mixxx, you would set the Ebox channels as outputs for Deck 1 and Deck 2, and its inputs for Deck 1 and Deck 2 vinyl control. See the Mixxx wiki for more information on that. Using time code records basically just turns your turntables into controllers.

  • @PegasusRPG And the Ebox i am connecting to the computer by using a USB to the Ebox Output?

  • @lambofgod94 Right. USB connection makes the ins and outs available to the computer.

  • @PegasusRPG hey man...unfortunately its again me, and i am again asking you something concerning the stuff we already discussed about. I am again torn between the Numark TTX USB and the Stanton Str8-150 (or ST 150 whatever) -.- Both got their freakin advantages man. I got the the chance to get a Numark TTX USB for 350€ and a Stanton starting at 399€... what would you say ?!

  • @PegasusRPG Another Question is, Do the stantons work with Serato, NI Traktor, and all the other stuff if someday i might change to timecode vinyls?

  • Does scratching the records ruin them

  • Im a believer! cant deny it!

  • got a pair of these for sale with a stanton smx 501 mixer £500 ono in hull, humberside reply if interested

  • @loffycarter I am interested!

  • quick question. will the counterweight for these turntables fit on the str8-60 's??

  • i love my SL1210, i also tryed this one but i feel better with my technics, but i need to say this tt is one of the best out there

  • aucun but c'est naz

  • @davefgranger damn right, these tt's are the most powerful ones on the market, with 4.5 kilos of torque

  • thank you very much !!!

  • are stanton 150's 10' inches or 12' inches? (as for getting a case for them)

  • @kpkopo They're standard TT size, same as Tech 12's and like every other vinyl deck out there.

  • If any1 is selling a pair of these decks or the st 150 4 a decent price & can ship to Dublin, Ireland please let me know. 1 of the tone arms on my 1210's is wrecked & I want to upgrade. My e mail is truesouljs@gmail.com. Please include postage/shipping costs if possible...Peace.

  • the weight is 16.4 kg thats 36.15 pounds they dount tell you the weight . so i look it up at the stanton web . i think i will stay with my technics sl1210m5g . they are both good but the technics have no hum problems. and the weight on the technics is 11.7 kg that's 25.74 pounds .that's the sl1210m5g and anti-vibration design with 3 layer cabinet construction . a masterpiece amongst turntables with a worldwide reputation.make sure u ground it right so u have no hum on the stantons

  • First track is soooo gooood,i cant"t fount it!!!

  • @davefgranger everyone try's to out do 1200's!!!!!!!!! i played on all tables....1200's are the best...the pitch bend...lol they have 12's that do that too..

  • for how much r u selling them for

  • do it come with the mixer?

  • technics or stanton ? i cant decide but i wanna make sure i get the write ones

  • who did that remix of florence and the machine?

  • Comment removed

  • @namkooc Maybe so, but they won't be Technics 1200's and they definitely won't be these. True they will likely start at the same time because they will likely be a pair of Gemini belt drive tables that will either be two of the same or similar...but NOT THESE..... ;)

  • What song is playing on the left hand deck? I really like it. Cheers :)

  • Look at the whole comment thread. Someone else asked that awhile back.

  • @PegasusRPG - Lovely, thankyou! :)

  • Comment removed

  • The tonearm. STR8s are straight (str-eight = straight, get it?) and STs are the standard curved. Straights are best for skip resistance, curved for sound quality (so the needle is always tangent to the groove.)

  • ahhh thank you, sorry was being thick :P, which ones would you reccomend for scratching?

  • STR8 since they're better at skip resistance.

  • @quickasafox

the track is..... Hyperlogic - U Got The Love (Mondo Remix)

  • @quickasafox You've got the love by Florence and the Machine.

  • im thinking about picking up two of them

do there ever fuck up in anyway at all.? i got to know before i buy them im putin down one g 4 them. I USED TO HAVE THE NUMARK TTX1'A AND THEY WOULD SPEED UP AND SLOW DOWN SPIN BACKWORDS ALL BY THEM SELF AND IT PISSED ME OFF.

  • They've worked solid for me for a couple years. No funny stuff at all.

  • o shit did you sell them yet i want them?

  • owned them for about a year, spun them as physically hard as I could-on all settings at all speeds. Never fuked up, nothing.

  • @229Mike good looking out thanks bro.

  • nothing can beat the 1200's

  • enjoy your 1978 technology

  • Bitch, fuck you. I guess thats why a bazillion of these decks are sold and in most clubs around the world, right? Fake ass punk.

  • I guess thats why Panasonic has discontinued them as of November 29th, now go eat a dick.

  • Really, I guess you believe everything on the net now, do you? They are stopping the MK5 you dumb bitch. MK6 is a Japan only release, MK2 are still in production and the MK5G are a special edition model.

  • read the -remix review- on the stanton. this "proclaimed" die-hard 1200 user off the site reviewed the decks above and said he found these decks better over-all.

  • LOL

  • uneducated person here.

  • haha

  • dis dik can.

  • is this the poser dj forum? talking about numark and pioneer turntables? ive spun everything you can think of, and ive retired my 1200s for stanton t120. its a better, heavier, stronger deck. the str8 is just a 1200 style t120. techincs are dope, and the standard, but it doesnt make them the best...anymore.

  • perfectly sum'd up, thank you! thumbs up.

  • haha, numark...

  • and an NS7 is a real turntable?...moron

  • Those are bad ass turn tables what do you guys know about turn tables the best is pioneer turntables and mixer. Also denon has great systems nice tables mate!

  • pioneer turntables are best buy shit, maybe you are thinking of cdjs?

  • trade you for an American Idol karaoke system.

  • why people so jelouse that there is better turntables out there then technics! technics just has its name becuase there oldskool but sooner or later a new born table has to beat technics!

  • WOOOOO i just got a set of these for £200!!!

  • lies!

  • Well £240 including postage ;)

    Bargain! Look on ebay!

  • technics have never been betten by any other turnatables .Anyway i belive that the technics mkii and mk5 are the best

  • best decks in the world. why would you use CD when you can have serato and STR8 150s

  • i have a question. im new to the dj thing. i dont wanna go cd players i want the str8 150s is there a way i can use sound effects like flanger n filters with turntables?

  • Yes you can have all you effects with real turntables. As with CD players you need a mixer with effects

  • what would i need (or need to do) to get the effects on TTs?

  • Effects arent really "on" turnables or cd players. The effects are applied on the mixer. so you need a mixer with an effects unit built in. If you are a beginner i would recommend getting a mixer without effects as it will take you longer to learn how to actually mix properly. It is common for beginners to get carried away with the effects unit. Learning on real turntables and not CD players is a good move. CD players is just button bashing really

  • im not a n effects junkie lol i just wanna get somethin i will use for years to come . THANKS FOR AAAAAAAAAAALL UR HELP =]

  • my recommendation would be 2x str8 150s and a numark dxm 06 or x6(just new colour) I have personally owned these mixer and know theyre great. They also have a great FX unit.good luck :-)

  • yeah, get a good mixer with effects, like the pioneer djm 400 or djm 800, most other mixers other than pioneer and korg are kinda lacking in effects.

  • stanton is the new standard now.i have to str8 150s and allen and heath xone mixer.perfect club set up

  • whats that song on 5:20 on the right deck?

  • It's the Ron Carroll mix of "You Can Make It" by Shawn Christopher

  • allright, thanks man!

  • the best decks in the world i have had mine for about a year and i have never used anything better

  • my 1210"s have reverse its called my hand

  • that also your girlfriend's name?

  • How Durable are they???? compared to 1210's???

  • I've never used 1210s, but compared to the 1200MK2, they're actually better since the tops are solid metal. (Painted.) So they're a little heavier which is actually good for feedback rejection.

  • I'm a drummer in a band, but i would like to learn to be a dj also, but what kind of vinal do u use and where do u buy it?

  • depends on what kinda genre you wanna mix man!!! funk? Dubstep? Drum n bass? house? og to a record shop, check out some tunes

  • lets trade trades and teach each other, i train you to dj you train me to play drums lol!

  • Please, whats name of song between 1.20-2:20

    Thanx lot

  • It's a white label remix of "You Got The Love" by Candi Staton/The Source. Found it in a record shop. I just wish this version had all the lyrics!

    Search Discogs for release #656116.

  • it is fully the same as reloop rp-6000s , only the outfit is different :-O i own rp-6000s

  • for all those who dont know, stanton's logo used to be that badass looking caligraphy "S", the original str8-150 had that logo, but the company changed their whole image/logo/design around 2004

  • I miss that logo. It's so much cooler than the one they use now. I even called to tell them that shortly after they changed it!

  • why have these got a black design, and a differnt logo again?

  • are u still selling them?

  • are yours in black? cos i can only find them in dark blue :s

  • i have been looking at these for a while and will definately get them now cheers for the review amazing:D

  • oakey uses these babys...ill have a set very soon...waitin to sell my technics...probly wont sell them after this demo....wicked stuff..

  • i can't find these anywhere cot dammit

  • What do you mean? Do a Google search for "Stanton STR8-150" and you should get tons of hits. Looks like they sell new for $400-500 bucks each. (The newer ones have a darker blue design and the new Stanton logo.)

  • yeah there's loads of hits but most of them only ship in US

    i live down under :(

  • storedj in Melbourne have them

  • word i want to swich my ttx for a pair of these and paint em

  • Where are you based? How much is packing and shipping to Central Europe? Thank you.

  • Too much, around $600! Anyway, they've been sold already. Thanks for your interest!

  • Bought 2 of em for 499 Euro (!) each!

So 700$ is really a good price, even if they're used ;]

  • Lightly used at that. And they come with cases & slipmats!

  • fastest talk motor in the world they are twice as heavy as technics and these r the new industrial fav they killed technics in all reviews best deck in the world
