Excellent, thank you for posting. I haven't heard this in ages. I can still remember trying to mess my hair up just right and looking for the perfect black sweater to wear to school back then...
it absolutely is the original long version! it's on the cassette "the walk" which is really no longer available, unless you find a used one from the 80's! this was always one ov my fav Cure tunes. the intro is so gorgeous!
robert smith, like morrisey, and bowie, helped me thru those solo sad times. now, lonliness seems right, or not lonliness, but solitude. take a veer here, do not merge.
This is the UK 12" version... Also the US cassette had this "extended" version. For years this was the only version I knew until I later got Japanese Whispers. I think this is the original mix and that the 4:09 minute one is an edit. I will eventually have to rip my LP version using my $3k turntable and into my 24bit/96k interface... My copy is pretty clean and I will run it through the Nitty Gritty RCM first... I'm once I go through al the trouble Fat Bob will release this in iTunes... ;)
Yes, legit as others have said. I've got the vinyl 12" 6 cut mini LP (has a fly on the cover) with this, Sire/Fiction 1983. It's a release for "The Walk" single, also includes the upstairs room, the dream, la ment, let's go to bed. Never realized this was an extended version, first time I heard the short version I was WTF?!
It's so wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully pretty. You know that I love evrything of it LOL On n'est pas payés mais on se marre bien :-)

of course it's bloody legit! for god's sake, there were lots of versions of LTGB released, i have 3! (all vinyl, btw) some have 6 tracks, some 4, some have 6 normal length, some have 6 proper length, some with extended. you just need to shop around. don't accept anything less than the real thing!!! but certainly this particular track needs this long version. when you are about to buy the record, make sure you check that just one kiss is the right length. i.e. this!!! xx
Love this song, love the xt version. I have both "The Walk" Ep and the "Let's go to bed" single in my vinyl rack. Song is quintessential Cure. RS was/is so lucky to get all of those music opportunities. Talented guy with good looks, but still, you have to be in the right place at the right time. (which he was.)
This extended version is also available on The Walk ep / maxi-single (vinyl - has a fly w/yellow eyes on the front cover), released before Japanese Whispers with The Walk, Lament, Let's Go To Bed, The Upstairs Room, Just One Kiss, The Dream. Apparently there are also versions of The Walk ep with only four tracks; not sure which specific tracks nor if this version of Just One Kiss is on that ep.
i had the record aswell...just a couple of songs on it, this extended verion on one side on the side played " the upstairs room" loved this album sooooo much i'd wait 4 the house to clear up n run 2 play it as loud as my player would allow...i'd get so lost...anyway woke 1 winter morning n was shocked 2 find it sitting next 2 my radiater, slightly warped by the heat...so disapointed...lol the damn thing skipped with every turn...didnt stop me from playin it over n over tho...long live the cure!
There are 2 12" versions of Lets go to bed , the one that contains this one has only Lets go to Bed and this remix, the other version has 3 songs with Just one Kiss the same as in Japanese Whispers.
It was relesed in 82, before Japanese Whispers and it is official.
Dont look for it in records shops, extremely rare.
It's legit. I have the MiniLP 6 song album of The Walk and this is the version which is one it (as well as the 12" B-Side version). Which is odd, cause this version, I believe, came out before the Japanese Whispers "shortened" version...and this was never labeled as an "Extended Mix" on The Walk album. I'm actually guessing that this is the original version and then they had to shorten it up for Japanese Whispers, then label this one as the extended version. But that's just my guess.
Is this Legit? I think not. Heard the Lets go to Bed one as well....Curious if its not just a really good remix of the song...i mean, im lovin it... but it doesnt seem official..
@ryandashsdotorg It sounds fairly typical of extended versions from those days. A longer intro minus the vocal tracks and a few effetcts added on (echo here and there) etc...Sometimes a bit boring for other artists/songs, BUT The Cure being the Cure, the song is beautiful and so the extended version is beautiful as well...
@chipdandy It is completely legit, but it's not exclusive of the 12" vinyl. I have the original "The Walk" cassette and this version is present in it also. Definitively, one of the best Cure songs of all times.

@seerpent8 it was a mini-cassette, not that it was the small ones, but a short cassette - as opposed to a full album cassette.

simply one of their best. amazing how some songs get overlooked - over time

@chipdandy I'm pretty sure it is, it's a rip from the 12" of LGTB, hence the compromised audio quality.

@ryandashsdotorg This version is also on The Walk. Very legit! I'm sure it's the original version as a matter of fact!
