man, XIII compared to this game is huge, XIII is so incredibly silly... no towns, just full of endless mechas all over the place and little girls with short skirt and massive guns -.- what the hell, old FF ftw!
This is just about the only song in the game that was done well in the remake. Also, yeah it sounds really like Dali from FFIX and also a bit like Daguerreo. And, I don't know if this sounds ridiculous, but does it remind anyone else of "Some day the dream will end"? (from FFX)
@drunkdrag0n FF IX has from all FF's the most references to FF I: Music, Garland, The Four Fiends, 4 great elemental crystals, eternal time loop, all memory was once just one big memory and so on and so on :)
FFIX was almost a retelling of the events in FF1. Granted, they are two completely different stories, but FFIX had a ton of FF1 references, plus, they went back to 4 party members and the use of crystals, which they had since dropped since FFV. Plus, Sakaguchi said that IX was his favorite to work on. Maybe that had to do with making it a lot like the game he designed to be his last (Final Fantasy was meant to be his last game, hence FINAL Fantasy)?
Not only his, it was meant to be the very last Game Square ever produces because they'd been out of money back in these days. Noone could foretell that it would mark the beginn of an new revolutionary RPG Era
@Last4xis The word final in the final fantasy was not becuse it was gonna be his last game but rather Square enixs last game. But the game sold much and they got money and could keep the buisness going.
@Blackbeast123 square soft back then. they weren't square enix until they merged with enix around 2003 (I think). and the reason it was gonna be there last game was do to financial troubles from poorly selling games on the Famicom Disc system.
@kl4969 Actually, the Dali theme is from THIS. FF9 Has a LOOOOOT of things to remember FF1 by. Like the 4 temple Fiends? Garland? Princess Sara(h)? Mount Gulug (the place AND the theme) four characters in battle instead of three, Vivi as a typical FF1 black mage, Princess Cornelia, the World Map's are similar, the Pumice peice is japan is Fuyuuishi, which can be translated to "floater", from FF1, Garnet wears the White Mage robes near the start of the game...
@MomoMizrahi When finding the potions to cure Cid, the items refer to the book of Matoya, Jane is a reference to Queen Jayne, who was called Queen Jane in some translations. Queen Jayne's daughter is Princess Sarah, and Jane's daughter is Garnet, whose real name is Sarah, who became a princess after fleeing Madain Sari, the Ice Cavern, Alexandria looks like Cornelia, yada yada yada. And, it's not just FF1, either. FF9 references other FF games, Resident Evil games, Parasite Eve, Chrono Trigger..
@kl4969 Might've been intentional. "FFIX" was, in general, a look back, but the Soundtrack also borrowed ideas and a few motifs liberally from the other games.
Just beautifull...

This remix gives the feeling of: You're safe, there are no monsters here, you made it, you may breath again very well. It's such a great song...

Omg, the first couple of the flute notes sound just like suteki da ne from ffx.

Another awesome theme from Final Fantasy 1. These two first games are very underrated compared to the SNES/PSX era of Final Fantasy.
SMRPGFAN101 2 years ago
I'm glad someone else realizes this. Although I believe that 2 was disliked to the key word concept.
I also think that FF3 was underrated, and it's possibly the hardest or second hardest in the series.

Buy Flare for Vi Vi and Holy for White Mage ( VERY EXPENSIVE)

Its so calm considering the town is in dismay because of the pirates, gotta love it thought! Its real calm and I like it.
LunethAkumajo 2 years ago
It was one town called Pravoka, not every town. This theme was played in every town. Pirates weren't in every town.

Holy crap the very beginning few seconds sounds like part of the Dali town theme from Final Fantasy IX!
