Ahhh love goat shooting always come away with heaps of laughs and fucked eardrums. Good to see you fellas wearing the muffs think i'll do the same next time
You're lucky you know someone down there that lets you shoot. I had a bit of luck a couple of weeks ago in some DOC land in Waitomo (not too far off where you guys were). Got a few goats in the bush, but there's nothing as open as this. It's really hard work finding private places you can shoot on.
@kingstoncowboy01 It's easy for me to door knock around south auckland up here (for rabbits/possums) because it's where I'm based. Bit harder when it's a couple of hours away! Gutted that one of my dads mates sold his massive farm down Piopio way. Used to hunt there as a kid. You guys should look into suppressing those rifles. I didn't regret doing it to my 7mm-08. Don't need to worry about earmuffs then. Nice video by the way. Always awesome to have footage of a highly successful hunt. Cheers.
@RimfireNZ It's funny you should say that about getting my 308 suppressed, since that video I had my rifle suppressed from "Dan harding rifle engineer" great having it suppressed now, should of done it years ago to save the ears!! made a big difference! makes less noise than my 222 and without the sharp crack!, bit louder than a 22 super sonic.
@kingstoncowboy01 my father brother and i, shot 10 goats this morning within about 2 minutes, and yeah most of them were heart/head shots cause they dropped and died instantly, but 2 of them were poorly made shots one which was done by me, but was then shot instantly again through the head to finish off. but not every single shot you do in your shooting/hunting life is going to be the best shot, meaning a deadly shot. shit happens.
@Moussi76893 I've known the farmer for years, we can only go only certain times the year due to lambing etc, and we use it as an annually to keep the numbers down for him.
shit dude isnt it a bit expensive to use those calibers on goat even tho u home load. i shoot goat out back of wainuiomata using .243.....but the bullet can be a bit light at longer distances. but usually i get within 150m or closer.....closest being 4 meters.......there wasn't much goat left since it was a small nanny to begin with haha

Good shooting. NZ reminds me of the UK but much more pointy. Good exercise.
