i wish if u were my professor in college instead of mine........, simply u make it sounds more more simpler and easier than my actual professor , thank u for ur hard work :))
Young lady, I suspect that you're intending to do physics or engineering with that Euler method. Euler is one of the method that's used in "control system design" engineering. Lookup on the net about PID controller (proportional-integral-derivative) on feedback control, where for a simple system like an automatic sliding door at a super-market, the controller can be a simple feedback Euler PID, because it is fast.
lol idk why but sometimes when I go to her videos and when I know shes going to repeat the same thing, "Hi everyone! Welcome to integral calc.com!" it looks like she wants someone to die. She's got that insane look to her when she says it, but I would if I'm constantly saying the same thing over and over. But, to get to the point, I came here because I've always been confused about Euler's method and I want to understand it better so that i can understand how to complexify the integral.
@Ghaiyst Geez! You think I look insane? That's harsh! :) Actually, saying the same thing over and over doesn't bother me at all. I love this stuff and I love making more videos, even if I do sometimes say the same thing over and over again. I just hope this helped you understand it better! :)
@TheIntegralCALC haha I dont think you look insane. I said you have that insane look when you repeat the same thing in each video like overadvertising your stuff kind of a thing. You dont over do it, but It seems like advertising the same thing over and over can get pretty tiring and you'd start looking insane after like the 10th time of saying it. I remember when I did.
I do love your videos; you have an unpretentious and earthy kind of delivery style that I believe is unique to women. Men tend to try to make rocket science out of everything. Your approach is to say this is like adding 1+1, it just takes a little longer and a little more attention. It raises a learner's confidence.
My one criticism is that you should give a little context. Tell me what Euler's method is. Why is it important? What should I be able to do with it? Don't change your delivery MO.
@Horsefording Hi! :) You've got a great point... My tutoring background is mostly with students who were more concerned with passing their class than understanding the context behind the problem, so I think I tend to approach problems from that angle, and you're right, I TOTALLY ned to start adding more context!! Thank you so much for the great feedback and for your support! :) I really appreciate it! :)
@Horsefording I do that too. I turn all this stuff into rocket science, because I get really into it. An appoach other than that sounds really negative and boring.
@subs367 For my latest videos, I have been creating them more like screencasts. For instance, if you search "squeeze theorem integralcalc" you will see at the top examples of what I mean. Does that make it easier to see and follow? Thanks for the feedback! :)
I have a test today on RK2 (improved Euler's). It seems to be the same only you average the next slope and the current slope to produce the slope that will be used.
Yn+1 = Yn + h((An+Bn)/2)
Is An the slope that is calculated using standard Euler's?
@fingerboy18 Ahhh! I'm so sorry! I'm working like, 16 hour days this week and I didn't get to check e-mails until this morning. I really really really hope your test went well!!!
@TheIntegralCALC It went well, thanks! I viewed all of your videos and solved it before you got to the answers and got them correct. That was my practice test :) This is a DE class, I'm taking Calc 2 at the same time as well. Haha, I'm busy too. I work 6:45-3:00, then go to class 6:00-9:00 (DiffEq and Calc2).
Thanks so much for the videos! They really do help. Ever think about doing more DiffEq videos such as slope-fields/isoclines, RK2, RK4, Solving ODE's?
@fingerboy18 Sheesh you ARE busy! Good for you!! :) I absolutely want to add what I can for everyone who has to take a DE class, but I've been focusing on getting stuff up for CALC I and CALC II. There are so many topics! I just have to go as fast as I can. :) I'm glad the videos that are up now are helpful, and even more glad that your test went well! Nice one!! :) I'll definitely send you a message if I can get more DE stuff up soon. :)
@TheIntegralCALC Thanks! Don't overburden yourself. I just noticed there are almost no quality videos on DE and a bunch for Calc1 & 2 (quality as in what you produce). I love your slow and steady approach. You realize that making videos and teaching isn't about showing off how fast you can do something.. Sadly it seems like some people are thinking that.
@TheIntegralCALC So I thought I was going to ace the quiz, but I got a 70. I'm not happy with it. Now we are doing partial integration, exact solutions, homogeneous DE's which seem to be difficult.
@fingerboy18 Dang it! That's so frustrating, I'm sorry! And you're right, none of the stuff you're doing now is easy. When's you're next test? Are you taking summer school? :)
@TheIntegralCALC Thanks and yes it's DE and Calc2 at a University; 10 week courses. 40 hours of work a week isn't much fun on top of it! To get accepted into the school I want, I have to get B's in both classes. Otherwise, I can't get financial aid and be in the Electrical Engineering program. I can't afford to go to school with no financial aid since I have a single mother and my brother just graduated college. I think about math all day haha!
@fingerboy18 Well keep your spirits up! :) You're tackling a lot, but you can totally do it! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as you keep working toward acceptance into the EE program. Just take it one day at a time, and you'll definitely get there! :)
@TheIntegralCALC Thanks! I already have my Associate's degree in Electronic Engineering Tech, but I have to get accepted as a Junior to finish my last 2 years. Thanks for the help!
there should be more smart individual like you out there. I know a lot of female friends but they all rely on me for help. Im impressed and btw thanks for the explanation.
If you guys plan on using this in the real world.. Don't. It's extremely inaccurate since it compounds the error. Use RK4, which uses a weighted average of 4 slopes rather than Euler's Slope, which you know it always wrong.
Krista, I just wanted to thank you SO much for this video. My friend and I struggled for about 2 hours trying to understand what this horribly written book was trying to tell us with no luck. Our professor is incomprehensible and even our friends who had taken diff eqs were not able to help, as they had not covered this topic before. So once again, THANK YOU for such a clear and methodical approach and explanation! =)
