It is not hanfu. It is actually Turkic in origin. The Chinese adopted it from Turk neighbors. For example, people take "Qipao" (a long female dress popular before 1949)for Chinese, but actually it was originated among the northen nomadic people such as Turk and Mongols. It was introduced to the Chinese by the Mongolian rulers and later by the Manchus.

It's possible to find many traces that the previous religions left in Uyghur culture. As in this video explains, Uyghur music,dance..are not originated from somewhere else. Buddhistic influence can also be found in Uyghur architecture yet compared with Buddhism, Shamanism, which is one of most ancient religion of Uyghurs has much deeper influence in Uyghur life.

It's still possible to find many Uyghur shamans known as Jinkesh/Daxan from rural and mountaineous areas. They say they are muslim but what they do is shaman rituals. some of them can really cure people with their ancient method of curing people.

But what I really wanna know, what rights do women have on your culture? In the traditional dresses of Uyghur women the hair is always uncovered. It's braided, but still uncovered. In Turkish traditional dresses, the women wear usually headscarfs. One exception are the Yoruk-Turkmens. The always showed a little bit hair.

I watched this videos, I don't understand Uyghur, but what I saw were women with uncovered heads. I watch a lot of you videos, many of them are in my favorites. In a lot of videos I see women and men making music together. In the Indian society the women often don't get taught how to play an instrument, you sometimes se a woman on a Sitar or other stringed instruments.

And Uzbeks are said to be the closest Turkic nation to Uyghurs, but they forbade their women to dance in front of other men.

Did you hear about this Bacchas? This were boys dressed as girls and forced to dance for the men. I saw somewhere an Uyghur painting from the 15th o 16th century, showing a man and a woman dancing together. And traditionally Uyghur women play the Dombra, right?

The dance is really an issue IMO, the old wall paintings just show the dance, and this resembles Indian temple dance, which is plausible because the Buddhism originated in India and Balinese dance also shows some similarities.

And in one of the documentaries you've uploaded, it's told that Uyghur music developed under the influence of the Silk Road travellers and also in Turkic music. But it's not to question that you have a very rich music tradition, just take the Mukams for example. I love this Mukam songs, especially the melody at 1:50. Do you also have this polyphony in your music? In Turkish music the players try to produce a polyphonic sound, for example the Turkish Darbuka technique. It's also in Kazakh music.
