  • how much are these?

  • just somthing else to clean fingerprints off of

  • how beautiful useless stuff can be

  • Is it mechanical? If not, nobody should even consider it. If I am paying that kind of money, I want cherry switches. Or buckling springs, like what I am typing on now. ;)

  • @TheDjentinator DO NOT WANT EVEN MOAR

  • Only £1,748.95 off amazon bargain right??

  • yhis bitch is like 2000 dollars, fuck that, if iwere rich i wouldnt need to be on a compouter

  • not worth paying that much for a keyboard.

  • You can get a gamer Pc for 1400 instead of this keyboard

  • @Pomelopeel Whoa, it's 1400$?!?!? DO NOT WANT

  • Wow, for that price id rather buy a Razer Switchblade.

  • Razer stole this concept.

  • @TheNiceguy1212 Not really, Razer created a dedicated gaming laptop with customizable keys, if you wanna say they stole something say they stole Alienwares Mx range. (They didnt steal shit lol)

  • looks very nice to see, but can this keyboard tolerate high pressures, for example during hard gaming, won't those screens burn or burst out???

  • looks very nice to see, but can this keyboard tolerate high pressures, for example during hard gaming, won't those screens burn out???

  • @kureemunj

It's not a GAMING keyboard. Only an idiot would ruin it by gaming. There are proper keyboards specifically for gaming. Optimus Maximus is international offices, learning languages, or to be used with software in which you benefit from having the OLED screens on the keys, for example editing apps with lots of keyboard shortcuts.

  • ENTHUSIASTS! Jeez.

There are people that get these kind of stuff because they can, find it useful, and want it. Period. Now STFU. If they want to donate to charities they would have done that already, don't you think?

  • 2 keyboard dot that huy has 4 hands?

  • To all with comments as such: "You could save X amount of people in [insert 3rd world country here] for the price of the keyboard" - Why don't you sell your computers, cars, useless appliances, things you bought that you wanted. You don't need them at all to live a 'normal' life. No? Well stop being so self-righteous, everybody likes things that increase our quality of life just for that reason, they make our life that tiny bit better or make you happy if you can afford this great piece of tech.

  • bullshit! go and spend your money for starving children if you have too much...

nobody needs such a crap, no art designer, no photoshop user and no 3d programmer. all of these guys know what key to stroke without looking on the keyboard.

it's (as always) the yuppies with too much bucks who find excuses like (I'am a photoshop user, blabla) to buy such a crap...

my advise to those guys: learn to use your software, perhaps visit a software training instead of buying such useless hardware...

  • @firefishable LOL starving children aren't our problem. Why should we

  • @firefishable So you don't have computers and all and you give you're money to poor starving children(So to proven you're own theory you don't play games you have like a desktop for 300$ or lower, you don't drive a car because for what you're spending on it you give to poor children!) if yes than ok but if dont shut up! You are a poor fag! ahahahahahaha

  • @firefishable I dont give a fuck if children are starving or dying. They can rot and die for all I care.

  • I would rather donate 2400$ to starving children then waste them on a stupid piece of technology,In this case a keyboard. My current PC doesn't cost as much as this, yet I have a keyboard that gets the job done and I believe that this will do the same! But wait,It's shineer :O OMG

  • i could really use that thing.. but the price kills it.

its still cheaper to work with 4 keyboards and switch them from text to text...lot of work... by the time i managed to use 1 keyboard for latin and kyrilic texts by switching only in the OS... but optimus would help me alot lol ;P

  • What you bought and did not need to buy could have saved about 100 children in Africa.

  • @darthspeaks Were not responsible for them? Who the fuck helped america out in our times of need? NO ONE. so why should we return the favor that we didn't receive? you scratch our back, we scratch yours.

  • @Cheesecake2k And the Lord asked "Who is your neighbor?"

  • @Cheesecake2k Well, actually, following events such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina the United States got quite a lot of international aid, including countries like Cuba - that place the US has been beating up for the last 50 years or so.

  • I wish I was rich. Like really rich.

  • Oh, I clicked for Transformers.

    =(

  • Would love to have one these if weren't for the price $1000 is way too much for a keyboard imo.

  • Looks great for people that use software like adobe audition, pro tools, or photoshop. you can program the shortcuts on the key board. although for the price you could buy a dedicated keyboard for every software package.

  • Its not an average keyboard by any means. It can do things beyond what an average keyboard can do. Therefore its meant for a user that does not do average things and requires something special to make it work

  • I could buy another computer for the price of that keyboard :/

  • it's not about how expensive it is now, its about how expensive will it be in 5 or 6 years from now. soon all keyboards will be like this one.

  • эх, тёма, куда ж мини 3 дел-то?

  • even very good computer doesnt cost as much as that :S

  • eeeew it's glossy!!

  • $1,600 for a keyboard? thats almost $2,000.

you've got to be the dummest fucking most idiotic person on earth to buy one of these. seriously get some help. In the end, all it is is a keyboard. why go through the keyboard menu its the stupidest thing ever. just access through your computer... thats why you have a computer

  • Looks like an amazing keyboard with all the programable keys but.........................Way to expensive!!!!!!!

  • @Bencottage I'd liek to see YOU make a functioning keyboard with 103 little screesn, adn sell it for less.

  • @jewpiles its £1000!!! im sure everyone knows it prob doesnt even cost a 1/10 to get made.

  • @oooV1P3Xooo That's the case for most consumer goods, guy. Plus I'm sure they aren;t making any, since the market is low, which drives the price up further,..

It's a neat start and a good jumping point for future gadgetry, but it's still god damend ridiculous.

  • @jewpiles If the price was about £300 i would buy it as i am a 3d graphic designer which use 3d studio max and photoshop. I just cant bring myself to justify the price. I mean...at the end of the day, its just a keyboard no?.

  • @oooV1P3Xooo Oh yes, jsut a keyboard.

I'm not saying that a grand is a good deal or anything, but . Given the market, it's ingenuity, features, etc. It's an.. expdected price. No really Fair, so much, but expected.

But thsoe keys being self-contained with the screens, it looks liek it'd be a good starting point for thsoe custom-layout keybaords for criples and gimps and the like.

  • @oooV1P3Xooo Photoshop and 3DS Max are ~$1000 and $3000-$4000 applications alone and you can't justify this? :P

  • @Yaheed of course not...3ds max is a fucking kick ass piece of software which enables you to create assets for the games and films industry. The keyboard is......well....its just a keyboard

  • I dnt understand why people would spend $800 on buying this keybord. I agree that the funstions r revolutionary and i am impressed, but there are macros on other keyboards that you can use to access programs. Yes, you cannot see the icons, but in my opinion, i dnt see the point of buying this...

  • I would NOT spend 800 bucks on it, agreed.

But if you've got money to burn, why not?

Once there's more demand and production, the price will be driven down.

  • I largely agree; it is a neat product. Like most, I can appreciate it on an creative/artistic level. However, it solves a problem that doesn't really exist. *Good typists don't tend to look at the keys* and standard keyboards are functionally more than adequate. So long as this remains expensive, I see owning one more as a statement of ego.

  • That assumes that you're only using the keyboard to type English text. You can use it to input predictive coding languages like Perl, etc. Also, there's those who want to easily switch between say, Japanese/English keyboard layouts and that. I'm sure there's other uses I can't think of as I don't want one myself. I would imagine this is more for the creative professional than anything else.

I agree the price is steep. But, just because it's not for you, doesn't mean it's useless.

  • Well, you are missing a very important thing: you can program whatever you want on ANY and every button.

  • Comment removed

  • ahem $1600 you meen?

  • It's a geek thing. The functions are endless, the synching allows for watching films, or coding in a piono, or maybe ukulele, this will soon be a very much needed upgrade of my current keyboard- the microsoft sidewinder 6X

  • If you are a person studying and working with many different written languages, this is REALLY helpful, instead of buying a keyboard for every language (Arabic, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Japanese...).

So, yes. That would be why. It would be similar to tablets, they are very expensive as well (though not as expensive as this, for some reason. O_o).

  • No, people when they're studying other languages like that, can't afford keyboard like this. They learn to do with changing the layout in the operating system, and not care that keys are not labeled exactly. By the time they can afford something like that, they're already accustomed to just using a standard keyboard and changing the layout in software.

  • That would depend on what level you are studying languages.

If it is beyond university, you sure as well might afford it.

  • even is not tu functional for me it's really cool! nice gadget!

  • Well, that probably because the keys weren't like those of a regular keyboard. They were too slippery, from what I heard. But you buy this keyboard because you can make good use of its functions. 175 |*|-|00|2 13375.

  • wow he's got two of them.

  • These things would be so useful in international type places (you have no idea, if you're unilingual, what it's like to be constantly confused because you're using a french or english keyboard that doesn't match the actual symbols on the keys).

  • awesome if it showed a demo by typing the letters onto the keyboard

  • its already outdated they coming out with a touch screen one.

  • A touch screen can not give you the tactile response that a keyboard does. I'm pretty sure you'd find it considerable harder to type on a touch screen keyboard than you would this or a normal keyboard.

  • that has already been out since the O.M. came out dude its like 200$ cheaper lol but it has different layouts u can download whichis tight but this is still better. like spacerat said, it doesn't give you the tactil response a classic keyboard would

  • Must be expensive. If not could anybody tell me how much it is, cause I need a new one. Just to replace my 1994 Compaq keyboard.

  • its about 1500 euro and im far not kidding ... i will never give so much money for a keyboard LOL gtfo its like as expensive as second hand car :P

  • xD hahahahaaa xD THAT SHIT COSTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OR EUROS AND IT FUCKING SUCKS!!!!! :D who would really buy it. i would pay maybe 80 dollars from that if i would have some money xD. i have only 5(euro)cents what's maybe 8 american cents

  • i think in two month the price will go down to 50%..... or else no one will buy it

  • i would buy one if it was like twice as expensive as a normal key board but at 600usd they can take that key board and get fuked! unless if someone got lots of money and dont care that is..

  • Actually it might be useful for someone who does a lot of photoshop or CADCAM work.

They could assign a key to perform certain functions they commonly use.

Does it work on a mac or *nix?

  • well as an advanced photoshop user and an experienced typer, this may not be so useful, in the same way that we all type almost without seeing the keys, i do not see the keyboard when designing, any self respecting graphic designer will take the time and patience to gradually learn all the commands so whenever he need say... create outlines, he just press cmd + shift + o almost instinctively.

Another drawback i see with this product is that is easy to learn a simple string of letters than icons.

  • lol fag

  • muerete riverini de mierda.

  • I want to see someone actually type something on it.

  • I bought one a month ago and i love it!

    (joking)

  • so that's what a $1600 keyboard looks like.

  • Some people have too much money.

  • Awesome keyboard, you can actual configure each individual button to any image you want. You even use an animated gif! Yes...ANIMATED FREAKING KEYS. You can do it with each one.

Plus when you press shift, the letters turn from lower to upper case and the numbers turn to symbols.

You can even map any key to do any function (open email, run scripts, write strings of text, ANYTHING).

  • It's even preconfigured to work with paint or final cut pro. meaning the letters actual switch to the shortcuts (cuz are paintbrush, eraser) when u switch the the application! And you can write your own stuff! Any format, any language, you name it.

This really is the keyboard of the future. I hope these things are standard in the next few decades.

  • that would be awesome with flight simulator

  • thats what I was thinking

  • If only it wasn't that expensive...

  • im soooooooooooooooooo gettin one of them.

  • how?

  • mac book pro keyboards an illuminated as well each key has a lit letter or number

  • and you can change the layout to whatever you want?

  • Most people touch type for it to be much use anyways, though the buttons on the side is quite nice. They do have a version where only the extra short-cut keys are LED displayed, don't they?

  • just wait until the chinese get their

hands on one. Then you can buy one for

25 dollars. that one might not have al the features this thing has, but that's the same as with cell phones, they loaded with options

witch 99% of us never uses, so if they trow in a nice programable lightshow, it would be enough for the most of us, and that doesn't need to cost more than 25 bucks or so.

  • Expensive but I can see lots of uses, for example to use it with Cubase and have the keys display what they do. However, as a keyboard, it's still a shit keyboard that uses the standard stupid slanted key arrangements. Are we going to be stuck with this shite forever??

  • what ever ideas yo have got my suggestion is put them forward you might become a millionare who knows :)

  • I know, and I have actually made my own keyboard and it kicks every other keyboard's ass. The problem is: how can you persuade users to buy a non-standard keyboard? All my friends say my keyboard is great and they are impressed by the speed at which I interact with my computer, but they don't want to actually use it themselves because they prefer to use they keyboard everyone else uses "for compatibility". If I had enough money to put an ad on TV, maybe :)

  • like i said design them draw them if you can draw see if you're ideas have may or may not have bin patented if not do it lol then put you're ideas out to companys im sure companys that make keyboards for gaming would snap up you're ideas.

  • hell, i'd buy one if i had any money.

  • waste of money 1000+ for a keyboard get real...

  • hmmm

it would be impressive around 4-5 years

but now there are multi-touch screens on the market pretty cheap and very powerful

certainly they are not substitute for this keyboard but they can do better

whatever it does not look impressive anymore

  • Touchscreen are, with extremelt few exceptions, crap. I cant even imagine having one as a keyboard.

  • fucking amizzzzzzzzing !

  • WANT!

  • hand built LCD screen screen keyboard goes for $1500 each. Definitely not something I'd spend money on. I'm waiting for the release price of the tactus

  • ... I want this keybord

  • Ta chido ese puta teclado

  • i mean, i could see it being nice to have your action scripting keys and final cut keys.. but id rather just buy the rubber covers...for like 1/100 the price lol

  • HAHAHA totally. it's a good eye candy, but hell expensive.

  • Wow, for that price you could get a Tablet PC and design a nicer keyboard. Anyway, it wouldn't be so cool.

  • you can buy this for 430$ now.

  • maybe pres. bush will buy this .. i dont know .. :)

  • i agree to all of the negative comment about this .. men ... this is .. shit!!!! .. this keyboad .. is so expensive .. and .. i dont know .. if you seen the movie "idiocracy" ?? .. hehehe its like that men .. damn !!!

  • it's for those rich bastards who have nothing else to spend their money on...

  • the fuck price ,, no no no , like in mexico say ,, mucha mamada .

  • whats the opint of this keyboard? it's SO expensive.. invest a 1600$ on a keyboard will not boost you performance or anything it's more expensive than a TOP of the line CPU's and I thought high end cpu's is a bad investment.. releated to PC.. just added garnish.. for me it's a very bad investment.

  • Looks damn cool, but I wouldn't buy it even if I could afford it, I'd rather give that money to an orphanage or something. I mean, I do realise that there are people whose work will actually benefit from using Optimus, but I'm certainly not one of those people, so if I bought it, it would be nothing but an object of luxury.

  • LED's are not very expensive, if you buy this, you're not thinking, or you're just rich

  • That's like saying "metal isn't expensive, if you buy a car, you're not thinking". It's made with programmable OLED screens in each key, quite a different animal when compared to a simple lightbulb LED.

  • $1599 for this keyboard damn... Lol Bill Gates is probably using one right now...

  • agreed you man.

  • lmao hes using three at a time for no reason

  • I can see a use for this when they develop other form factors for other things like children's toys and what not, especially if they're educational/puzzle based.

  • Eh, the price isn't bad considering the tech behind it. The question is how long would it last?

If this keyboard lasted me through ten years of use then I'd buy it at $400.

  • They should make the cheaper version with black & white in place of full color.

  • If the keys were black and white it would defeat the purpes. Besides, its not the color thats expensive, its the LED keys that are expensive.

I would love one of these. I think eventually they could corner the market with this product and it should get cheaper over time.

This is the next step in the evolution of the keyboard. Every other part of the PC has been steadely changing over the years except the kb. Even the mouse with laser tech and so on, so im glad to see the kb finaly evolving.

  • $1500 ... come one, slice my $400 samsung and make keys from that ....

  • it definatly has a cool factor as far as novelty goes but none of that goes into usability and the reviews put usability backwards not forwards. Its a neat idea tho

  • i'd buy it if i was RICH!

but i'm not super rich, so i'll wait till the OLED's come down and they'll have to lower the price dramatically or be beat in price by someone else.

  • i'm not teasing this keyboard coz it is AWESOME!!! But i would only pay $300 for it. Imagine what you can do with $1500!!! buy 2x 8800ULTRA? 30" screen? Quad core and LOADS MORE!!!! For $1500, you can get an AWESOME pc that can run Crysis on high settings. Awesome keyboard though.

  • Yeah, but u know there are plenty of really rich people in the world who will buy them.

  • $1500 bucks is pretty pricey. Hopefully the technology will become more affordable soon.

  • price is wrong i think, its meant to be $460

  • It's $460 with only ten customizable keys (the rest are normal plastic). $1500 for the fully customizable keyboard.

  • It seems useful but I think the lights will break down quickly.

  • Heheh, yeah and 10 dollars per key, if that happens you're royally fucked.

  • They actually dropped the price, its still kinda expensive, but at the current price of 462.27 US$ Im getting one.

  • LOL, just found out that $462 for ONE active key, still $1500 for the whole keyboard. Never going to pay that much!

  • Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.

I guess maybe it'll drop in price eventually, so more people can afford it.

  • i'm glad i new about oled when i was commenting then. :P. It really is awsome technology.

  • It's not about the keyboard, how much it costs or even if anyone would like to own one themselves. I'm sure you all have perfectly wonderful keyboards. This video is a demonstration of OLED technology. If you don't know what that means then you are commenting for no reason at all other than to see yourself type. Here's a cool trick for those of you that don't understand what OLED is or why this video is here - google OLED.

  • your jealous cause you can't afford it.

  • hhhhhhhhhhh I can't afford it!!! Boy u make me laugh. It's fucking keyboard not a Ferrari u faggot.

  • And you are still poor as hell m8.

  • I just had an Orgasm watching this video O.O'

  • I heard that the keys on this keyboard are 2x2 centimeters(0.8x0.8 inches)....i mean comeon..who would actually wanna type on a keyboard where you have to twist/move your hand constantly to reach all the keys.

  • would really suck to spill coke on a keyboard like that xD

  • I want this keyboard!!!

  • Whats the point?

  • you can change everything in the keyboard. !!

  • I get that. But I say again. What's the point? Who would spend the $1500 just so you can change stuff and have pretty pictures on a keyboard. Some people have more Dollars than sense if you ask me.

  • oh my god! i so want this!

    its soo freakin awesome!

its great for language users, gamers, other programs that u can do.. i bet that they will let users make their own text font/logos,

    SICK!!

  • they have...

  • Looks ok for someone who has the money and deals with computers all the time. Me, I just like my keyboards to have standard keys and such.

  • Optimus Maximus keyboard = $1564

$ 5 keyboard with hotkey mapping program does the same thing.

    What a waste of money.

  • O RLY?! can the $5 keyboard actually change what is displayed on the keys through LCD?

I think no. And it isnt $1564, its around $400 get the price right.

  • im sorry to burst your bubble but the Keyboard has OLED keys..(not LCD) and i think a 20$ logitech programable keyboard would be just as effective.

  • oh yes, my bad. I guess i just thought LCD cause i was looking for monitors before i found this vid. my mistake.

  • It's $1500 for the full version.

For $400 you get only the spacebar (1 key) with a OLED display.

  • WANT

  • it all actually looks quite Appleish..

  • wtf is this?

  • please upload a higher quality video showing the images that are possible on the keys, im interested in this keyboard for a project but i would like to see a high quality video with sound for evaluation of the keyboard thanks regards Richard

  • I like so much Artemy Lebedev' s works!

  • Very nice setup

  • This video is about the imaginative use of the emerging OLED technology not about lightup keyboards my friend but sadly you missed that.

  • and you also contradicted yourself with the "GOSH PEOPLE YOU ARE SO DUM!!!!!" comment, you need to go back to school to learn english.

  • Wow I can't believe the idiotic comments on this video. Do you folks even understand what you are seeing? These keys are each minature screens each one can display whatever you want. There are no letters or numbers printed on them at all just a thin film of OLED compounds. Each key can produce its own light. Sadly it probably means nothing to the morons that post here on YouTube.

  • It could be good for professionals, e.g. for graphicians, video editors and so on, because you can have different key mappings and you can find visually the right key in an istant.

  • 3/4 of youtube comments are posted by idiots. This keyboard is a good concept, but for the casual gamer it isn't really necessary. But for a designer it may seem logical (look on the official website at the demo and look at the Photoshop layout).
