  • It's very good but you skipped out a whole part!!

  • chinese chosaky

  • the pianist sucks....

  • Good heavens!!!!!!

  • lol 1:47 the teacher messed up but he hit the right note

  • Bravo!!!!!!!!!

  • Increible...

  • this boy feels the gypsy tune and still he knows that he's playing classical piece. way better then perlman - more soul and more fire. this boy will go far in either gypsy or classical music. as long as he's not loosing his musical charm

  • lol broken bow hair

  • how can a boy play that like that! I think he's very wonderful!!!

  • i think his bow snapped a string.

  • the best i've ever heard so far... the emotions coming out of that violin's just.... scary... really good job!

  • Thats just plain scary! This kid is good!!!! He broke the hair on his bow he's so intense... Wow.... Great job!!!

  • wow if this is him 3yrs ago wth this amazing tone imagine wat hes like now =]

  • No need to imagine... Just check out his channel ;)

  • such wonderful tone!

  • Wow... makes me wish I had started younger with a great teacher.

  • lol....the hair on his bow came off

  • es algo maravilloso es un cosuelo para este mundo que es tan cruel a veces

  • !!! FEIK !!!

  • Wow... Well, I don't care bout ya'll but he's indefinitely better than me! Hahahaha.

  • Dat little fella sure can fiddle! ( I thought that Zigeuner peace was longer, maybe

dem hi notes upset the cat )

  • OLOLOL UPSET WHAT CAT

  • not to great your vibrato isint activ all the time and not great to

  • id like to see a video of you playing this at like 8 years old

  • Comment removed

  • I think the way he's trying to impress us is the fact that he has such fantastic technique at such a young age. Vibrato comes with musical maturity, which comes from overall physical and mental maturity, so it will be developed. It's actually quite a performance, although not comparing to any of the professionals. The tone is incredible for his age (I assure you if you saw a video of higher recording quality, it would sound better). Just wait a few years - he'll play it perfectly then.

  • that's probably the best i'd sound if i learned it right now LOL

  • not amazing.

but definitely good for his age.

i was half expecting a typical CHILD PRODIGY YOUTUBE VID NOT.

but apart from some clarity issues i thought it was definitely impressive for your age.

  • Oh to be asian.

  • XD sry but the bow hair ....looks like one is cut off...

  • LOL I KNOW I SO SAW THAT XD

  • For the age amazing to even thin about a piece like Zigenerweisen. But I would have to say alot of the notes and harmonics were off. Overall I very much enjoyed the performance and with some practice Ill be sure to see you as the next Joshua Bell!

    Best Wishes,

    John

  • Impressionnant techniquement vu le jeune âge.Mais trop jeune justement,semble-t-il, pour que la musique trouve sa place.Dans quelques années.Bonne route,Enfant!

  • saying your hands are too big is pretty ridiculous...perlman's hands are really big and he has long fingers...oistrakh (enough said)...they all have big hands, you don't hear them complaining that it holds them back

  • PLUS BAS LE MI BEMOL AU DEBUT:O!

Mais effectivement tres beau dans l'ensemble.

  • this is disgustingly good..

  • It's not fair....

  • Muy bello! Que Dios lo cuide para que en el futuro le de grandes satisfacciones al mundo.

    Juan, de Argentina

  • You have great technique. Yes, there are places out of tune and you skipped measures, but all-in-all it was a great performance. Keep going! You are really talented.

  • Do I hear notes out of tune? DX He is okay. Need to work on technique however.

  • i hear it too.

  • thats exactly true most are forced to do it because of their culture. I was so pissed when i tried out for this violin competition in middle school at how all the ones who made it were asian but my senior year of high school at the same competition there were only two they grow up and finally realize that they they don't love the music.

  • O M G !!

    Eszter!!!^^

  • FRÄNZL fUCKIN' HELL

too good.. to believe it xDD

  • loved it, just awesome

    this boy will go far

    bravo!

  • Lol hes not playing in tempo, if you are going to perform at least make it perfect and no offense to him, great player but boy needs to learn to balance his playing. The out of tuneness, he seems to do it just to do it, not to perfect and actually improve.

So goes my opinion. I dont play violin! Its impossible for my gynormous hands, so I play Bass. All respects for the boy.

  • you're just jealous. Also, college, education are really important to is. Is it wrong to do something enriching and enjoyable, that will also help your future? jeez.

  • can we let ignorants be ignorants?

  • he didnt have childhood

  • did anyone else notice he skipped a page of music?

  • awesome

  • ... some ppl are naturally gifted and they start early, i wish i had both =(

some of my friends in ninth grade played this song, and here is like a 6 year old playing the same song!!

  • argh!!! ARGH!!!! I'm struggling with this piece!!! and some kid plays it better than I do...

  • practise makes perfect i am sure you will get it in time!!

  • he doesnt play that great

but hey that is pretty darn good for his age

    i played this song

    just so you guys know

  • You're right...the final part he missed every single left hand pizzicato and his harmonics are off too. Also he has tons of out of tune notes and even some wrong notes. He is good for his age though.

  • That was awesome, i wonder how he plays it now?

  • i can't believe my eyes

  • what the heck!!!

    that was insane

    he is so good!

  • Try to spell trumpet, dumb-ass.

  • I think that this is really hard for him, but good...

  • I think that this is really hard for him, but good...

  • w...t...f... WOW..... a boy so young could interpret such complicated music to deliver w his violin wow wow wow

  • @princessanahmi ofc he have a teacher that tells him when to play and how + hours of practice.

  • he's eleven and this piece is just to hard for him to play it good, so wait with this till he is 15 and let him play pieces that he can play nice and good

  • very nice you're are very good i play this song 2 i might post it im not sure

  • he's got some bow hair flying around.....

good, but need a bit of take time.

    abit of rush.....

any waz, excellent in age of 11!!!!

    KKKK

    keep up the gw~~~~!!!!!!

  • look at 86 year old man fighting with his puberty

  • What in the world is that supposed to mean?!!!

  • i was saying that he has a feeling of someone that old, but its gotta be confusing for him being that young

  • I see what you mean now. Thank you.

  • The boy is absolutely amazing! Just 11 years old - what a performance! Bravo! The girl also gives an excellen piano accompaniment.

  • Great!

  • c pas trop mal pour un petit garcon de 11 and mais franchement il n a pas du tout le niveau de jouer ce morceau.. enfin!

  • prettty good!!!

  • man i wish i could do this.. im 15 and the best i can do is vivaldi.. summer only hahaah

  • summer's fun

  • Good intrepretation of Gypsy Airs. Well Done. For those haters, c'mon guys, just give this little boy a break he is just 11 years old. If u are reallt good sure post a video reply how good you are compared to this telanted kid. I'll totally agree he can be heifetz one day. Bravo.

  • it's kinda cute seeing an 11yr-old kid playing this. he's got some skills. *aww* ^^

  • This is amazing for an 11 year old. I am 16 and still think this piece is tough, bhut I can play it just as well as him. Keep up the good work kid, and you'll make something out of this skill.

  • wow this is amazing. for 11 of course. well, im actually 13 right now and im playing malaguena! yea. i've been playing for 3 years only. anyways very very good! i wish to play this in the future

  • this kid is hot.

  • lol @ bow hair

  • that is nick

  • little heifetz!!

  • Wonder n full of passion n soul. I love this music n the kid is amazing!

  • he's so good wow...

  • This boy is extraordinary gifted and for his age it's a absolutely outstanding performance. Calvin,do not look on bad incompetent comments, believe in yourself!

  • Wow I'm 11 and I'm just on suzuki 5 even if I only have been playing for 1 and 3/4 years!!!

  • This boy is good, but much room for improvement

  • see if you could play like that at age 11, shame on you!

  • he's 11 so what..

    he's also 11

and plays it btw whay better

so i can't see what the fuss is all about. he's not the next heiftz and thats for sure!!!

  • HOLY CRAP THIS KID IS AMAZING!!! anyone who said that this piece was too hard for him to play is most likely extremely jealous. hes playing my dream "concerto", if its considered as one. well done!

  • wow. he's really good. i like the song.

    is that loose horsehair?

  • haha it is a loose horsehair

  • lol!

  • Calvin: absolutly wonderful. Please, do us all a favor and never give up on it. You could be the next Heifitz...well, maybe :) But to all the people who criticized him, he will get better(even better) as time goes on. He might not be even at a full size violin at the moment(which greatly enhance the sound) Great job and good luck. =)

  • actually he is Pablo Sarasate

  • The kid is great! He is apparently extremely talented. All of you who experience some sort of pleasure for criticizing this kid are frustrated musicians yourselves. Don't you remember when you were young? I bet that none of you can play this piece in a decent way even now - as mature musicians. this kid will be big and known and you will always remain in the shadow of your own frustration.

  • Calvin, please check your inbox. I have just sent you a message (an invitation). Thanks.

  • ok seriously everyone who thinks that this kid shouldnt have played it should seriously go to hell. dude, he's freaking what, like 11? lets see you guys try better then. jeez give him a break

  • Oh I agree with you!!! For his age, he does play it very very good!!!! I mean I couldnt play this piece so well as he can when I was that old... Does anyone here who criticizes him, thinks this is an easy piece??? I will tell you what, no it's not!!!!

So kid, keep up the good work!! You do it great! Bravo!

  • the peice was good...but it was just mising somethign...

it was missing passion and soul..without that a any musical peice is just random notes taped together

  • Holy Heaven!!! For God's sake, do not forget it is just a kid! Let him grow up, and, I am sure, you will hear about him some day in the future as about technically perfect and emotionally persuasive . Holy Heaven!!! For God's sake, do not forget it is just a kid! Let him grow up, and, I am sure, you will hear about him some day in the future as about technically perfect and emotionally persuasive violinist.

  • wow very nice! Memorized too! wow!

  • He is very pretty

  • Bravo!! Beautiful!

  • That kid's doing real well and should keep up the good work.

Having that said, a young kid playing a difficult violin piece; prodigy or not, it's such an old, worn tired cliche that it's nothing special. They're a dime a dozen anymore. The same goes for not just music, but anything.

  • It´s good to see and to hear, that there is coming a new generation of incredible musicians !

  • Zigeunerweisen is one of the most difficult gypsy pieces (lvl 6, i think). I do praise him for his performance, but you people have to keep in mind that this little boy has probably been playing since he was three. So he's have about six or seven years to be able to accomplish this, which is not so bad considering children learn faster than adults. Some intonation problems, but it was good.

  • Technically, he was remarkably sound for a kid his age, but I feel that he's just not mature enough to give it the right musicality. It's not his fault, but I feel that you need to have a certain degree of experience and maturity in order to be able to infuse the piece with passion to take it to the next level.

  • absolutely. agreed.

  • wow,Zigeunerweisen is not an easy piece, and it's too complicated(muscially) for a child at this age! but what he is doing is really amazing, this is the most passion and expressian that you possibly can get from a 9-10 year old little boy.and "carloslaran", don't compare him with Sarah Chang at his age because the level is way different. Sarah is a child prodigy but this little boy is simply very talented and a very gifted child.

  • Quite good for his age. Most of all, it's a tremendous attempt on his part. Keep up the good hard work and improvement.

  • very impressive. whenever i see a talented kid, i have mixed feelings. on one hand, it is a joy seeing talent and hardwork paying off at an early age. on the other, there is so much more to life than just being good or even great in violin. i hope this kid get over to julliard/curtis soon and at the same time develops other interests besides violin.

  • a bow hair came loose. lol.

    -watch your intonation

    -dont fumble so much

    other than that...it was great!!

  • u realize u are being a critic, to a fkin 11 year old.

    Shame on u!

  • constructive criticism [:

    and anyway it was amazing.

  • He's definitely very good for his age, and is deserving of the praise he's receiving, but I have to say that no 9 or 10 year old should be playing Zigeunerweisen. Let him mature more so that he can understand what he's playing and actually do something with it. Should be in his teens.

  • I agree!

  • Today was the first time I had every heard the works of Sarasate. This was my introduction to this piece. I loved it. I was shocked at how well it was played. I expected a little homemade recital piece. I want to see this boy play when he grows up. He could really set the world on fire.

    Keep playing please!!!

  • this kid is amazing for his age, give him some slack. if a 17-year-old student plays like this, then you could say "practice more before you even think about recording a video," but this kid is young

On the other hand though, he's no Sarah Chang, lol. By his age, Sarah was already famous, earning high salaries, and playing solo with professional orchestras around the world

  • It's true the intonation is off in places, but I'm sure that will become perfect in not so much time. It's great watching and seeing him play with passion, confidence and relaxed control (irrespective of his age) - these are surely the essential things at his age.

In contrast you (jeongalex) are a disgrace, posting a recording of Garrett playing Pag/Cap 24 and claiming it's ur own.

  • jeongalex you are an idiot. Let's see you play like this when you are say, 9 or 10.

  • look this kid is great he probably plays at the level sarah chang did at that age.

  • NO! :)

  • we don't know that this kid is 9 or ten, but lets just assume that he is. Now everyone knows that Sarah Chang was a prodigy who went to work with Zubin Mehta at age 8, she made her debut CD with tracks inclduing the sarasate carmen fantasy which is just as hard as the zig, at age 12. now do you realize what you are saying? or are u just some ignorant fool who is stupid enough to say that he plays like sarah chang at her age?

  • let me rephrase myself, i didn't mean to say that she was taught by zubin mehta, but had worked with him, who at that time was the conductor of the NY Phil. She actually studied with Dorothy DeLay at age 7 in Julliard. And let me say that DeLay has taught itzhak perlman, midori, gil shaham, and more.

  • UH.. and.. i can't hear his pizz!! :P

  • how old is that kid? :)

well, obviously, the piece is a bit too hard for him. he could some easier pieces.

    however, it's not bad :)

  • Very good!! Keep on practicing!! watch your intonation especially!!!

  • very very promissing

    Bravo young MAN

  • I disagree. maybe its not perfect, but its pretty darn good, especially for a kid this age. I was impressed.
