people are so freaked our here with the fact that the mommy put a string on the needle. we do that here in the PI all the time especially if it's a first piercing so the hole wont close. I guess it is a substitute for metal.
I had my friend do mine, and his technique was really good. He mounted the sterilised needle on a cork, the eye-of-the-needle obvioiusly inserted in the cork, the sharp end sterilised. The cork acts as a handle for accuracy and required pressure. Place a marker point on the place you want it. You can use ice to numb the place, but when I had mine done it was damn near painless. Swab the area before and after, wear gloves, sterilise the ring, push through. Swab, and presto!
While that was mildly entertaining, its totally retarded...
So if your near colorado and need some holes poked professionally...i start at $10 and up standard piercing jewelry included ( 316LVM implant grade surgical stainless steel )

Im the one in the video that pierced my nose and almost 2yrs later now its just fine nothing went wrong no infection or anything and my nose is still on my face...so it dont matter who dose it...and either way by a professional or not it still has the same chance of getting infected or something going wrong the only difference is that they have better and quicker tools to do it with
yes it is lol the if you use a medium sized sewing needle it will go through. it might hurt a lttle bit. have you ever even seen a nose stud before? they are tiny, I have 2 of em right in front of me.

yeah i tried this... apparently it doesnt work with nose RINGS, and now my nose, has 3 differnt holes in it, and hurts like hell, so much for saving 15 bucks and doing it myself...
