I can snap the big chords and get them to ring out and help build tension in the songs, but I was wondering if you have ever done any chords and bending with them?

Yes I have... these techniques can be used in any kinda style. All the advice I can give you is to practice and practice and be patient. On my info page there is some info about how to practice.
