I'm a bass, and I sing all the Wicked songs (girl parts) an octave lower. I'm proud to hit even those notes, seeing as I'm a bass. o.o... If I wasn't in a dorm room I'd be belting.
How anyone could audition with this song is beyond me! It's SO HARD to follow the lyrics. There really isn't a melodic line in the music to follow. Just desants and what not. And alot of it is just spoken or shouted. Good luck to anyone who attempts this one for audition!!!!!
I really want to perform this next year for a chior show. Can anyone give me any advice? I can hit all the notes no problem but help is always welcome...mostly on breath tho like how to support the Fiyero scream at the beginning. Plz and thank you.
@Lorzaliiez lmao same with me i am in middle school and can reach a high e flat but even though i love im not that girl its lmost impossible 2 sing some of the low notes because i cant do them and when i can i sound like crap lmao
i LOVE this song, it's perfectly within my belt range, and i actually CAN hold out the notes (which surprises me a bit...) and i get to perform it at a showcase!!! the only problem is the acting, and getting a little more volume and diction on the lower parts.
Lol This Is A Great Song! I Tryed ToFind This Version On I-Tunes But I Coulden't. I Wanted To Buy It After I Listend To It At A Holaday Park Called Woolacombe Bay!
Okees... After the third time singing this my voice has already started faltering when hitting the notes. O.o These songs are brilliant, but they really take a toll on my vocal cords. =.= I wouldn't be surprised if I lost my voice by tomorrow.
@sonicsongstress Lol, I need to do the same thing (except I need to give myself a higher belt range! Can't belt those notes out! - and usually that's not high for me!). I can ALMOST hold that last note, but not quite!
it's actually easier than ud think, as long as you are using the proper technique u can push ur limits a little each time you sing and eventually u will stretch ur vocal so that high notes will be more attainable, im not even going to lie singing Wicked has made me a Tenor, i used to be a complete Baritone, now im getting cast as Billy Lawlor so it is possible, i mean if you are a LOW LOW LOW bass than...don't get your hopes up for tenor notes but high notes are not out of the question at all
that's sort of what i did too. i used to be pretty alto/mezzo. not i can sing up to a high C and sometimes an E. too bad it doesn't work the other way. its actually practically impossible to practice your way to a lower voice, because you cant squish your vocal cords into a smaller length than they were to begin with. i still can't sing below a G under middle C...~_~,
The 'belting' technique in singing is quite a challenge cause your initially hitting notes you would in head voice but instead, chest voice. I had to do that for Jekyll and Hyde but this song is pretty immense compared to Facade Represe 4.
oh my gosh this is perfect!!! can you send me the mp3 file?? I want sing it for a school thing but the only arrangement my voice teacher has doesnt have the whole beginning and its the best parttt
that long not is easy if you just breathe before again... Breathing exercises really help. I've noticed that some notes that use to be really hard to hold are now easy from the training I had. Not so much now sine I haven't been training it for about 5 years... plus my vocals are shot from smoking and rock singing. :( and I use to have an almost 4 octave range. Now it's about a 2 1/2
Make sure you are breathing correctly, always remember, you can only put out as much air as you take in... Breathe from you diaphragm, and think home, if your shoulders lift up a lot,you know you are just filling up your lungs! As Kristin Chenoweth says, "breathe from your vagina!"
if your shoulders are moving a lot that's actually improper breathing because it's coming from the chest region.
if youre breathing from your diaphram then your shoulders shouldnt be moving much or at all. the way you test it by laying flat on your back, doing so will force proper breathing in most people (i think 90% of all people). when you sing you should have the same sensation when you're lying down - proper breathing i hear can expand your life span
love this song! it's ridiculous how difficult this one is though....in my opinion, it's much harder to sing and do well than Defying Gravity, even though that song gets so much hype.
Thats bc Defying Gravity is the song right before intermission, the last of the first act. Its dramatic. and the last note of that one is so high and hard to do.
i totally agree with u! cause at the end of Defying Gravity, there 3 some what longs notes at the end, but at the end of Not Good Deed, there this one super long note that can pretty much almost make u pass out, lol!
@theloverofmovies91 Alot of people have probably told you this, but I know that long note is UBER HARD, but all you gottta do is breathe through your stomach. If your shoulders don't move but your tummy does, you're doing it right. :D Hope that helps!
um, yeah, i've known that since i was 10, i just wasn't really sure how to explain that to her, cause one time i tried to explain it to someone they got totally confused, but u explained it good so there u go! Yeah all the other stuff i told her was just stuff u do in general to help u be a better singer
Is there anyone out there who has performed this song? I can hold a note a ridiculously long time normally but for some reason I can't get enough air on that last "again" to hold it long enough, (plus the song is a little high so that might be a part of it too). Any tips?
Have you tried to hold the air in your tummy and start the last note a bit softer? I mean start the note and as the music is ending sing it louder so it sounds more dramatic... just an idea
I sing along to the CD in private, but haven't yet performed it anywhere. Make sure to support your breath and also not let out all your air too fast. Proper breath support may also help with making the best of your range. That's what I learned from my voice teacher anyhow and it helps. Staying hydrated also helps with pitch as I have a weird range. *lol*
If I choose to work with lower ranges, I can get D below middle C, but if I want to go high, I loose several notes off the bottom depending on how high I'm messing with. I can inconsistently hit either G or C, I think it's 2 octaves above middle. Private lessons might help with the inconsistency and quality of the tone. *lol* Too much dehydration cuts my range to about 1.5 octaves from around A below middle C, up.
@LittleCrowling really really good advice. my friend is suggesting I do this for my HSC piece cos I got a strong chest voice and the expression will add marks. thx heaps for the advice =]
O.O I'd be careful with that it probably means you're pushing to hard or you arent breathing right you shouldn't get dizzy :( try easing up a little ad makeing sure you take a HUGE breath befor that last note.
Geez, you really see how much the voice carries this song. At some points the music gets really quiet when you're supposed to sing at your loudest. This was great fun, thanks!

10 seconds is hard to hold if you'r doing movements as well, find a video of someone doing the movements then copy them and I guarantee you you'll be our of breath!
wow, difficult song to sing for an exam lol, id have picked 'popular' or something lol, imo its the easiest song to sing from wicked. brilliant song though, good luck with it i jope it goes well xx
oh right ok thankyou, i dont think it realy looks like her in this video. i do like shoshana bean, but i just think she looks a lot more powerful in this video. i like the way you put in that video clip at the end its a good effect. love this song so much, thankyou
just take the biggest breath youve ever taken in your whole life just after the "do", thats how i manage it, it still gets a little lame at the very end lol. good luck xx
lol I started off fine then lost my pitch around the middle since I've been having a little bit of winter allgergies this week that are taking their good old time clear- ing completely up like they're not bad but just enough to be a little annoying. Then I went to try it again and I went right into what good is this chanting at let his flesh not be torn even though I had the words lol. My voice is probably more fitting for Gl- inda but never hurts to try to train your ra- nge some.
Thank-you so much!! xD This is really hard to sing because most of the words don't fit nicely into the sentances, but I guess that's just how the song goes ^.^
Could you please to a 'What is this feeling?' one? You do such good karaoke vids :D
Thanks so much! I'll try to get another one up ASAP... although I just got a mac and I'm still getting used to all the applications. A new one will be up soon!
I love singing this song. I just wait until everyone is out of the house because if I sung while they were around... they would go deaf! :D Lol. Thx for posting! ^-^

Make sure you are breathing correctly, always remember, you can only put out as much air as you take in... Breathe from you diaphragm, and think home, if your shoulders lift up a lot,you know you are just filling up your lungs! As Kristin Chenoweth says, "breathe from your vagina!"
nyoung58 2 years ago 4
that's actually wrong....
if your shoulders are moving a lot that's actually improper breathing because it's coming from the chest region.
if youre breathing from your diaphram then your shoulders shouldnt be moving much or at all. the way you test it by laying flat on your back, doing so will force proper breathing in most people (i think 90% of all people). when you sing you should have the same sensation when you're lying down - proper breathing i hear can expand your life span
DaryLeonardo 2 years ago 4
Well you have to move for this song, you are casting a spell, you cant just sit still!
silenthillmaster755 2 years ago 2
well that's a given. what i'm saying is that proper breathing technique should involve much movement in your shoulders as it's done from the diaphram.
moving for the sake of performing the song is a totally different subject

that last note is like impossible. XD no matterhow hard i try i can't hold it long enough. the people who play elphaba are insane....in a good way (:
MissMillsonxx 2 years ago
I can do it if I don't sing the lines before it and use them to suck in breath XD It's a fairly feeble sound by the end as well..
TeazerKitten 2 years ago
just take the biggest breath youve ever taken in your whole life just after the "do", thats how i manage it, it still gets a little lame at the very end lol. good luck xx
AbiLovesYouLots 2 years ago
I guess I'm just lucky then I can hold it xD Just keep practising and you will get used to holding and you'll be able to do it! good luck :D

Thank-you so much!! xD This is really hard to sing because most of the words don't fit nicely into the sentances, but I guess that's just how the song goes ^.^
Could you please to a 'What is this feeling?' one? You do such good karaoke vids :D
