Bill was given a full set of drums by his parents one Christmas and he learned to play by listening to Queen. (Get drunk and sing along to Queen). Since this is acoustic music he did not feel the need for a full drum kit.

Mills was born in California as was Buck. Mills' family moved to Georgia when he was a baby. Buck's family moved around before settling in Georgia. Berry was born in Minnesota and his family moved to Georgia just in time for his first day of high school (where he met Mills). Stipe was born in Georgia and was an army brat and his family moved quite a bit before settling back home in Georgia.

Ah... Mike Stipe when he was cute... the good ole days = heehee...... Mikey Mills looks like the alt rock version of Clay Aiken... or a science geek. I fell in love with them the first moment I saw them coz they looked like regular guys from my school & sounded like songs I'd written myself.

Stipe's an army brat, not a southerner. Mills and Berry are from georgia, Buck from California.

OMG! Stipe did not hid his southern accent on these "Cutting Edge" interviews! Wonderful! I recall see them on the cutting edge and I had already had "Murmur" and I ignored all the other crap on MTV.
