  • ...he really half asses that interview

  • nothing better than the originals

  • If only Lucas put as much effort into his releases as Ridley Scott. Even during this documentary, he just doesn't look interested at all.

  • George for gods sake, watch this and listen to yourself!

"...that they spend film time on it. And you don't to spend too much film time to create an environment. What they're doing is showing off the amount of work they've... generated. The story is not the settings. The story is the story, the plot."

  • @Fkouch people wanted a prequal he gave em a prequal he never said theyde be good just finish the story and expand the universe :)

  • old making ofs are fun but now its watching people sit at computers

  • "you worry about those fighters, I'll worry about the tower!" :- Awesome!!! :)

  • I LOOOOVE old making of's for my favorite movies thank you!

  • THANK YOU for this SO MUCH!!

  • again. open two windows. mute one and its watchable

  • youtube is notorious for introducing audio skew - ALWAYS use CBR audio!! wav would be best

  • It had been great, if the story would remained so important to Lucas (prequels)...

  • @VitoPossilipo yeah I found that really ironic!

  • Exactly, that´s the word.

  • @VitoPossilipo he says quite a few things that contradict himself from his past, esp in the other making of that deepfriedmuppet has (omnibus - starwars (1999)) I cant remember exactly which episode it was from that series. In one part he said that the phantom menace is a story about good becoming bad, which in is kinda wrong. Since Anakin is only just discovered. throughout the movie there is no obvious hint that he was showing signs of him being bad. Sure they could sense hate in him

  • @thepryest the signs are very subliminal, for example, starting something and not finishing it is a sign of the dark side (anakan didnt finish building c-3p0)

  • @VitoPossilipo but in a way lucas has a great story that can be over embellished with high-end graphics. Why he over exaggerated the characters with the playful nature and humour is just grounds for divorce. Jar Jar fucked it for me. esp the scene where he puts his head into the pod racers electro beams. Could you imagine any of that sorta humour in episodes 456?

  • Exactly! That´s one of Jar Jar´s worst moments, also to me. But I also especially hate the scene, when Qui Quon Jinn helds his tongue. That´s also so discriminating and aggressive.

But for me, the droids in episodes 4,5 and 6 are also treated quite badly- but also funny. But it´s basically the same kind of malicious glee, similiar to the treatment of black servants in old black and white movies. I ask myself, if Lucas is a racist- and an antisemite, because Watto remindes much of a mean

  • cliché of a Jewish trader- in Episode II he even gets a round, dark hat.

Yes, I know that Lucas is a friend of Spielberg´s, who is of Jewish descent. But I´ve often heard of antisemites who have Jewish friends before.

  • wow the video is TWELVE seconds behind

  • this is unwatchable because of the egregious audio syncing.

  • Sound and Movie is asynchron

  • might need a bit of lucas industrial light and magic to get the damn syncing to the documentary back...

    :)

  • you fuckin assole, the audio is 30 seconds behind you retard

  • 'Star Wars' trench scene and dogfights with TIE fighters were lifted directly from the films 'The Dam Busters' and 'Battle of Britain'.

  • yeah the same dialog , shots .. glad others agree with me

  • dont worry guys ill edit it and render and publish in da next year lol no in the next 5 months k.

  • I just came up with an idea for the sync problem: I suggest open this part in another video and try to follow the sound directly and try to match it up in the other window with what you think should be a perfect moment of a scene like with the fighter attacks to help keep up. It's worked for me of course.

  • You fucking genius :D

  • Thanks. But what do you mean by "F" in this thought?

  • Oh, i was just taking your advice, and loved the idea :D i didn't mean anything derogatory by it.

  • That's okay. Glad you liked the idea. Must've come up in like less than half a minute.

  • Thats what I did

  • Great

  • LOL.. That's actually a pretty good idea! Pretty stupid that I didn't think of that!

  • @Xwingpilot My video didn't have the snyc problem. Sometimes its from slower connections

  • @recruit97 same no problem

  • Why do some videos go out of sync?

  • I don't remember the part with the droids falling off. Kinda dumb, I see why that was cut :)

  • never was cut. That seen was always there.

  • Racist bastard.

  • Interesting to learn that Lucas upped the 'info speed' in the original Star Wars from what people had been used to. And interesting that he did it because he knew the new generation could take it. So maybe today's generation digs the prequels after all. But for me, stuff like that robot factory fight in the second one is ludicrously over the top and cartoon-like.

  • Wow they really have lost the thread on the editing style on the new movies and properties. Now its almost to much info, Indy 4 was like that. Wow, its crazy to hear him about this impressionistic psychological approach and then to think this is the same man that gave us Jar Jar Binks, and turn Leia's mom into weak stereotype.

  • 4:28 that scene where han and luke start moving around and shooting the tie fighters around the falcon - they should make it into a universal studios attraction or something. it'll really be interesting...

  • 2:04. You can see that Luke already has the wound on his hand before the blaster bolt hits it.

  • Wow, I never knew George Lucas had black hair when he produced star wars.

  • theyused35mmfilmnotdigelliketoday

  • 35mm film is still the starndard for the industry.

  • Actually the setting and environment are essential in my opinion to helping to make the story believable in the film process . Putting more time and effort is a long shot on whither the audience buys the story or not .

  • Yeah but to hear him say it is so hipocritical. I mean talk about spending to much time on environment and loosing the story. The prequals were the exact opposite... what happened to that philosphy? I miss it.

  • Uh, the philosophy still holds in the new movies. When have you ever seen the camera unduly focused on a set piece or a creature that wasn't important? If anything, the new movies focus more on plot than the old ones. They're way more story-heavy.

  • Too bad the stories, dialog and chemistry is all wrong and half the characters just cg masturbation. Not done because they add to the story but done because they can be done.

  • thank you very much for uploading, very interessting stuff
