@Camcam1213 actually, Lenne's spirit lived on and her memories and feelings from within the pyreflies condensed into the dresssphere, which Kimahri found on Mt. Gagazet a thousand years later, and remember how Shinra says that the emotions of the original person (Lenne) can sometimes carry over to the user (Yuna).

But for some reason Yuna's the only one that gets this connection with Lenne, Paine and Rikku dont (I think its because Yuna knows the sorrow of losing a loved one like Lenne did)

Part 1.

Shuyin and Lenne lived in Zanarkand 1000 years prior to the events in FFX-2. Back then, there was a war called the Machina War and Lenne was a songstress, but as a summoner was forced to go fight. Shuyin, however was a star Blitzball player for the Zanarkand Abes. When Shuyin discovered that Lenne was to die needlessly, he decided to use Vegnagun, a forbidden machina that was pretty much like an H-Bomb when fired upon Spira. Lenne stopped him and they were executed shortly after.

Part 2

Shuyin's spirit remained and seeked vengeance and still to use Vegnagun. Lenne's spirit remained in the Songstress Dress Sphere and Yuna's emotions reacted in a similar way that Lenne used to (a happy vibrant young girl). Before the end of the Machina War 1000 years ago, Yu Yevon, Yunalesca and others created what we know in FFX to be "Dream Zanarkand" in order to preserve its memories. Tidus was a dream of the Fayth and also the recreation of Shuyin, hence the similar looks.

I'm pretty sure he was in the cage at 4:00 before being killed. Just saying if you meant that he some how survived and they captured him then, then that's not accurate.

Here's how it went:

He went to use Vegnugun the first time, the alarm sounded, was captured and then was imprisoned in Bevelle. But he didn't stay there for long because he broke out of the cell, and then went to use Vegnagun a second time and that's when Lenne came to stop him. Just thought I'd clear that up.

I just thought of this, I never got all the music puzzles in ff x2 until now. 1000 years later when shuyin activates vegnagun for a second time with the ( conveniently musical controls ) maybe not only are the puzzles and the activation song just that maybe there shuyin's version of a requiem for his lost love. A tribute to lenne and her musical talent maybe?

i like this vid. it FINALLY explained to me what the deal was between those 2. the only thing i didnt like was that the music was much louder and clearer than the voices, especially while shuyin was in the prison. I had a much easier time reading the subtitles than hearing what he was saying. lucky me i know french, otherwise i woulda had no idea what he was saying at that time cuz for most of it, i wasnt sure what language it was until i figured out it was english:p

The story of Lenne and Shuyin is such a sad one. I'm glad they were finally laid to rest after all these centuries. :'( It reminds me somewhat of Romeo and Juliet, but not as sad; it's still very sad, nonetheless. Thanks for putting this up to help us all non-gamers understand this beautiful love story. I must go and see the story of Yuna and Tidus (my most favorite couple, besides Lenne and Shuyin). ^_^
