Imo, it sucks that rocket flying was reduces so bad.

I personally think it reduces the speed and intensity of the game,but it's a widely accepted change by now.

I have fov set to 130, which gives a wider view than the default of 90. Other than that, it is just the default camera.

Yes, the rocket detonation time has been changed on most servers now, so this method doesn't work. You can, however, still shoot at the ground or a wall to give yourself a boost.
