@wheely132 I think most boards have them these days. Of course, that's not too surprising when two of the major chipset makers are AMD (ATI) and nVidia.
there is one big flow in this mobo...the battery is placed right under the gpu slot so wen u got a gpu installed and u need to fix the bios ud have a hardtime taking tht battery out. i had tht problem with a previous mobo but the p5k doesnt have the same problem which is strange why this mobo has it.

my p5k sucks. my old motherboard melt so I bought a new motherboard. and the old one was an old budget card but now when i have the new i can play less games with lower settings. ITS KILLING MY. i going to post a vid and show you whats happens when you play games on my pc:! but i think its maby the graphiccards fault.
I'm thinking in buy this motherboard and a GeForce 8800GT but the 8800GT is DDR3 and this motherboard has DDR2, Will the 8800GT run slower than in a DDR3?
Thats strange. I have had this board for almost a year, with 2 different processors, 2 ram upgrades and 2 different hard drive configurations. Every time this board has been super stable and performed the way i would expect. Even overclocking my old E6420 i could get an easy 3.14ghz.
This moherboard is a piece of SHIT with many problems. DO NOT BUY IT BEFORE DOING 5 MINUTES OF RESEARCH. I bought one and it WILL NOT POST. Many people are also having this problem. Asus' technical support is a joke. Research it! I wish I did...
Just do a web search "p5k-e wont post". It's only a percentage of boards with problems, but there is still a high volume of defective boards, and not just this one. This board is GREAT, when it WORKS.
Yes it was damaged. Like I said, Asus boards are great... when they work. I had a P5B-E that began to exhibit problems after a year of use. Sometimes Asus gets slack in the quality control department. I've given them another chance, though, I've just ordered a P5Q. It seems while they have some of the worst boards, they also have some of the best boards.
Hi there,Would you mind telling me what bios you are running?I am running bios 0806 reason I am asking there is a few upgrades to pick from on the asus site...Thanks
he said that it is a little hard to reach the first 2 SATA ports when using huge nvidia VGA's .. the Q is can I use only one 9800 GTX grafic card on the other PCIe slot or do i have to use the first one so idont block the SATA's ??.. stupid question but i really need an answer :D
that thing is super stable. it runs nice and cool still too. i overclocked to 2.4ghz on a stock 1.8ghz. the connectors for the front panel are very nice too since i always seem to mess those up.
It's actually great that this board has the 8-Phase power design (which the P5K-C doesn't have) for such a low price. A friend of mine bough this mobo last week and he overclocked his Q6600 to 3.4GHz with no problems.
Does anyone know if an XFX8800GTS will cover those 2 SATA ports?
Also, I can't understand why Intel boards are Crossfire compatible? Isn't that like giving in to AMD (who know own and produce ATI cards)? Anyone care to shed some light on this?
Asus has included one SATA cable with this mobo that has a straight connector on one end and a right-angle connector on the other.
I have a large graphics card which does cover the two SATA ports, but the right-angle connector solves the problem. You would just need to buy a second, identical cable if you plan on using both ports beneath the card.
I have a q6600 with b3 stepping running at 3.ghz fsb 1333 mem667 dual channel on air with a inno 8800gts 320mb version when overclocked i just hit 13000 but not stable playing games drop core on 8800gts to 615 runs all day great board picks up wifi from 2 doors down great for when you run out of download speed >ps north bridge gets hot when overclocked but i do live in a realy hot house and its only after huge game play
Hey the script speaking bout the mobo is really well written and you guys really present it with a lot of polish. I really appreciate the fast paced overview of what to expect on this mobo, thanks for saving so much of my time! Much obliged.

i have this board
i got it for the built in WIFI to reduce cables & the DDR2 1066Mhz support
with a Q9300CPU, Nvidia 9800GTX it is one powerful setup in a antec 900 case
the only annoying part is you have alot of trouble getting to 4 sata ports if you have a large video card
SniperScopeSE7EN 2 years ago
did you have to do anything to get the wifi working, or is all ready set up
EliteKillerA93 2 years ago
just install the drivers(lastest if best)
& then you just use the windows wifi connection
issue was i had to put in a real old CPU to flash it to 1350 so i could use my Q9300
i overclocked it to 3.5Ghz with no issue besides heat
