Hi Sarah, well done, a very real and basic example of classical conditioning. Keep up the great work, I am studying Psycology and use Youtube to assist my study.
@MultiGanton you do realize you look extremely stupid right now just saying a comment like that? idiot she is trying to help those that are studying classical conditioning and fyi psychology isnt just for men you dumbass think before you post
@MultiGanton funny you say that. In my psychology class, there's only two boys and the rest are girls. You need to shut up, grow a pair and go hunt. How else will us girls cook in the kitchen you dweeb!?
@Ren090485 there are only two boys because psychology is a shit degree. men that are really interested in this topic go to med school and become psychiatrists. those 2 problably are there because they're bored/don't care/didnt got into med school etc. And most of them are girls because it's a stupid pseudoscience and bitches can't do math/physics etc so they do social 'sciences'. btw i've hunted my dick, take it in your mouth.
I don't think the 'crackling' would be a 'neutral' stimulus, as it forewarned you of the 'branch falling down'. perhaps the 'crackling + branch falling down' could be analyzed as one stimulus.
I would like to enquire, "does it also apply similarly at work with motivation". Are employees classically conditioned to respond to money - neutral stimulus?
@aroundtheworlda Actually I think you're the one who needs a lesson in sarcasm. I have seen many statements almost identical to that one. If you want a sarcastic statement to be effective, you need to give some tip-off that you're joking.
But the sound is not what hits you on the head; it's the branch. The sound has meaning, so it's not neutral in that sense, but until it's been associated with 'duck', it is neutral in that it is not a stimulus that triggers the response. Once it's been associated with the smack on the head, and serves as a cue for the reflex, it becomes the conditioned stimulus.
Good question! I think a lot of people assume that in classical conditioning, the 'neutral' stimulus must be completely neutral-not previously associated with anything. When we do experiments on rats and pigeons, the neutral stimulus really is neutral because we have control over the animals' learning histories. But in the real world, this is not always the case. The 'neutral' stimulus may be already associated with something. ... see next comment
THANKS!! this was really helpful :) Im busy studying for psychology exam!!! =)

Hey is that a neutral stimulus though because the sound is part of the branch breaking and so its not neutral.
