I have always wondered about this machine. I sometimes see them on E-Bay. The cloth belt should have a tension idler somewhere. You can usually adjust the tension on the bar that holds the idler so it doesn't push too hard on the belt. Thanks for the video.

I've been wanting one of those. I have three Aiwa reelers, , the TP700 (? 7" mono portable), TP714 and TP50. I like the way Aiwa made their stuff. Aiwa also made many look alike (EV Shure Astatic) microphones that were rebadged with store names, like Olson, Lafayette, and I suspect Radio Shack back in the 60s-70s. For imitation mics, I like them. I've seen the Aiwa "pill mic" (GE/RCA copy) sell for over 50$ on ebay. Do you have the mics? This would be kewl for recording sound FX in stereo.
