Hey, thanks for the tutorial! I am trying to record a guitar (line in) and mic (using mic input) simultaneously. But, Reaper is only recording the guitar. How do I get it to recognize both the guitar and mic? Thanks
Hello! I really enjoyed your tutorial - even though I am nowhere near the level. Its my first time viewing reaper. I was trained to use ProTools but its ten years since I was in the professional studio recording and editing environment for music and speech based radio programme making. Also - Does my computer have to be almost dedicated to Reaper for it to work in a stable manner?
i have reaper and cake walk and both are doing this. when i plug in my guitar to my computer the speakers make no sound. i can record it but i cant hear what im playing. i have to unplug my instrument it makes sound but thats it.. i need help
I'm not sure about Logic since I don't use it.. But if you have a VSTi and a RTAS version of a VI I would venture to say that you will be about twice the performance from Reaper. Even the DigidesignSupport guy on the Pro Tools forums suggests using Reaper as a VI host.
i figured out the boxess but i got another question im trying to use my peavy vypyr amp to record some guitar stuff and its heavier guitar playing and it doesnt sound very good. how do i get a more clear sound
@tabitha061388 i had the same problem and just fixed it. Just stretch the whole mixer interface up so it gets really high.. they will pop up.. the only problem you will have than is that you can't see much of timebar etc.. you could try to adjust your res .. or just get a second screen ? i'm still not sure what i'm gonna do
Hi I have a problem with my reaper system, well I have all the presets and midi cables and keyboards ect. but when I record a track there is no sound, please help!
I don't speak much Italian... But from what i gather is that you didn't understand the video.
The reason for this video was to show you how to setup a session with multiple tracks. And be able to record them or use Reaper as a soundboard. Message me if you have specific questions abotu what you are trying to do and i'll try to help.
The Theme is called "apollo" and its created by "LampShade" you can find it in the resource section of the Reaper.fm site. And I have a direct link on my website to the file.
Great vid :D I’m watching more and more of Reaper’s tutorials, and so far I’m adoring Reaper!! I’ve been using Cubase Sx 3 for years, but even in the 5.1 advanced they couldn’t come up with a proper multitrack drum editing (C6 has it, and it costs a fortune), not mentioning of course consolidating. I would like to know, what skin are you using? I have Reaper v3.76, can I set the same skin you are using? Much would it help me in the fx issues to see them…
I recently bought Reaper and have a 6 track mixer which has a USB output to my laptop. Everytime I record it goes into Reaper as one track which is temporarily fine, but if I ever needed to edit out something for one instrument, I wouldn't be able to. Is there any way to keep the tracks seperate from the mixer to Reaper? Thanks!

What mixer do you have? it may only have the capability to record the stereo out of the master fader.
But... even if that was the case... you could hard pan a GTR to the left and hard pan your voice to the right.. and then in Reaper make sure you have separate tracks set to record Mono Left and Mono Right.
@TutorialsForReaper I have a Peavey PV6 USB 6-track. I never thought to pan and then add mono tracks. So I could pan it the other way afterwords, or at least partially?
great tutorial i was wondering can you make a video recording midi and then copy and paste to complete pattern out your song.because when i do it it out of tune for copy and paste my midi loops.thanks

So basically will Reaper let me run more instances of my plug ins and VIs? Is it more stable than Pro Tools and Logic on OSX?

Do you have the "Monitor" button pressed in on the tracks? Its the little speaker on the track channel.

Is there an example on how to record from two devices, for example, two USB microphones, and have each track have record from a different output?

@longskimmer
Yes Sir, For Example.
Channel 1 - Vocal Mic - Pan hard Left
Channel 2 - GTR direct line - Pan Hard Right
In Reaper
Track 1 - Vocal - USB Left(or whatever its called from your usb mixer)
Track 2 - GTR Line - USB Right(or whatever its called from your usb mixer)
Each channel will be recorded as MONO, which means you can pan it any way you want later.. or keep it down center.
