  • I live in Minnesota and I don't know where Darwin is?

  • 1:17 - Move away from the microphone just like in the song Chocolate Rain.

  • Wow, this is the song I always yell for at Al shows even though I know it will never happen. So glad to know that, at one time, it did. Great to see this!!

  • This man is AMAZING. He sounds just as good live as recorded. How many artists can we all say that about?

  • In a way,this is a parody of ACDC s Big Balls.

  • What I love is how easily impressed all the characters are - they're very endearing.

  • I love this song!!

I listen to it every time I go on a journey! :D

  • This should be the twine balls anthem

  • I love this so much! I love that hat! Want!! Al looks so damn cute! I have a postcard from the Twine Ball, thank to my friend Kaffy! :)

  • @nemellotus supposedly a parody of 30 thousand pounds of bananas by Harry Chapin, I hear a few of the note but can not confirm it. you might like that song any ways

  • I can't believe that I can sing along to this song still. It must be close to 20 years since I've heard this song. It was one of my favorites when I was a kid though.

  • Does anyone else find it completely hilarious that his family took a road trip that ate up half his vacation to spend about 20 minutes looking at THE BIGGEST BALL OF TWINE IN MINNESOTA before being thrown out by security? I can't believe I never heard this song before...

  • @Nesquito : There is no security at the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota. Just sayin'.

  • And he has seen alba alba albaqurqe??? OMG!!!!! I think i spelled it right!!! (if you guess the number of molacuels in Lenerd nimois butt I will send you tickets to albaqurqe) DISCLAMAR im not the best speller so your tickets might not reach you...

  • the best damn epic ever written

  • kinda sounds like Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

  • @Kikadaaf LOL, I heard a few of those notes myself.. I came to this site because I heard it was a parody of 30 thousand pounds of bananas by harry Chapin but I can't clarify that after listening to it... way to different compared to most of his parody's I heard back in the 80's

  • @bravo723 It's not a definite parody of 30TPOB, more like a style parody.

  • this song is soo fircken epic!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I lived a block away from the Winchester Mystery House

  • @arnoldwarrior15 i lived a half a block down from Jerry's bait shop LOL

  • This song is a straight parody of 30,000 pounds of Mashed Bananas by Harry Chapin

  • I was 12 years old when I saw this live. I just can't believe this is the most popular live version. Weird Al had a huge impact on my life. He made me realize how important a twisted and thoughtful sense of humor really is. The closest we can ever get to God is when we are laughing our asses off. I don't think I can ever be truly serious after listening to every song he's ever made. (except for this serious comment)

  • @JorhugZ i know what you mean

  • UHF one of my fav albums!!

  • I think the song is the parody of the common "american dad", who is simple, but content with his family, a little bit silly, but lovable.

  • 0:51 is when i really start to listen

  • Good God!

  • diet chocolate soda? how does he do it? I've wanted to see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota ever since i heard AL sing about it! he's convinced me it's worth the trip! and who wouldn't be convinced by his twine ball musical effigy! and that food is important in his music relates to my GI Joe/ food oriented mind. (lasagna, eat it, trapped in the drive thru, etc)

  • Hi Al i have allways loved your shows. 99 ,,i can change my 99 (I HAD NO IDEA YOU WERE 99 STRANGE) JUST LET ME KNOW ...,,,OK

  • Did he say "Westchester Mystery House?" Haha.

  • STEVE JAY IS SUCH A ROCKSTAR, SAME WITH THE REST OF'EM OF COURSE!

  • Where did he get the twine??

  • Uff da!

    Dang good.

What next? A song about the Biggest Boot in Minnesota?

    The Spam museum?

    The Mall Of America?

Aaahhh the Star Of The North, so many famous places, so little time. ;-)

  • Uff da!

    Dang good.

  • 0 blind people missed the like button!

  • good lord. i love this man's music lol

  • I love the Biggest Ball of Twine. It's totally worth going to.

  • totally a parady of a musical style. also, just a wonderful song!

think of it... if you replaced the lyrics with "real" lyrics, you would have the perfect anti-war song, or a pro-war song, or about love, or about a break up, or anything "heavy."

    Weird Al is the man!

  • aahhh right before his transformation!

  • It's a style parody. My dad said the chorus sounds very familiar to some folk song

  • wat is this a parody of????

  • @nixima1 it isn't a parody. this is an original of his.

  • @FestusOmega my dad said it was a parody

  • @nixima1 its an original i think and it was right before his transformation!

  • I saw him perform this in MN back in 1996. The crowd went ape shit.

  • I feel sorry for the background musicians. Having to play parody songs day after day. Al gets rich, They look depressed.

  • @haggishater what are you, austrailian?

  • excellent work!

  • luv this song. dont ever delete it off. i first heard this song in la cass. lmaoooo

  • Weird Al's band is so good. Jim West has some of the best guitar licks in this song.

  • it doesn't matter. weird al could play a broom closet and he'd get ten thousand people to see it. this man transcends venues.

  • He smelled real bad and he said his name was Bernie

  • Where did he run off to so fast at the end?

  • He does some parts of his live show when he changes clothes. There, he was quickly getting ready for another part of the show.

  • to change into another costume for the next song

  • whoooooooooooo come to MN again Weird AL! I want to see you!

  • I've heard he learned to play accordian at something like 6 or 7 years old and (last I heard) plays some 17 different instruments. Talk about GENIUS!!

  • it was on his 6th birthday that he started playing accordian.

  • hey guys P.M. me if u no if wired al will be or is still doing consirts in N.Y. plz

  • here i come minnesota

  • Great video. Thanks for posting this. The man is certifiable on two levels: Whacko and Genius.

  • I really want to make it to one of his concerts sometime...

  • This here's what America's all about...

    :D

  • "I was so overwhelmed by its sheer immensity, I had to pop myself a beer." sheer comic genius.

  • LMAO! :)

  • cleverest dude since albert einstein. weird al-bert einstein :)

  • Awesome folk song.

  • "the biggest ball o' twine in Minnesooota"

    Nice local accent.

  • oh darwin...

  • NO WAY! I didn't think he ever did this live!

  • He did it on the Bad Hair Day tour, and then again on the Poodle Hat tour!

  • Hah, just my luck. I didn't catch him on either of those tours but I did see him on the Running With Scissors tour.

  • Al, rhyming "where'd ya like to go ta" with "Minnesota" is... Well, like they always say, it's the little things... Simply ingenious.

  • I wish He'd do this song more. And this is coming from a Darwin native.

  • I was there.

  • Thanks ! :)

  • Never saw this song performed live. Thanks for posting this.

  • Does anyone have this song? It's so fun!

  • It's on iTunes. Yes, brilliant.
