He is the enemy, but are we not to love our enemies? We must fight to LOVE those who persecute us! As Mr. Chaplain said, "Men don't hate, only the unloved hate."
this is pathetic. grown men are actually obsessed with a cartoon for little girls. i think it's time for you faggot shit stains to grow up, get a job and move out.
People aren't just good or bad. Everyone is both. Everyone can be both. Airplanes can be used to bring people together. They can also be used to fly into the world trade center.
When this movie came out in the 40s no one listened. now in 2012 when ponies are involved, we still don't listen. This is a world I'd rather not live in. Take me to Equestria!
I am a brony and think that this video is a kind of demeaning the original video for non bronies. I honestly wish this was never made aven though i am a brony.
@loganbamf2 How do you find it demeaning? The very quotes in the speech are "hate and intolerance". Bronies, generally, have an understanding that our maxim about "love and tolerance" is part of our subculture as bronies... the EXACT OPPOSITE in diction. This video is meant to respread the message crying out for world harmony by Charlie Chaplin in a format that appeals to bronies from the outset. Not everyone among us is a fan of old, classic, black and white cinema.
@loganbamf2 As someone who loves both classic movies and this show, I do not understand why you find this to be demeaning. For the most part, sapphire475gs covered my reasoning. Really, though, the core messages of both are the same. Besides, the show itself has explicit references to much older material, such as I Love Lucy, Gunsmoke, and the old King Kong movie. Such things are tributes and are meant as homages to the original material.
This video actually made me tear up. It's so moving and it makes you think about how our world could be as perfect as Equestria if we all just treated each other as equals; no racism, no discrimination or hatred. If we all tried to make the world a better place, then it would certainly start moving in the right direction.
@ThePonyDude Well, we would also need to be able to just magic away all the world's problems, unless we got absolute masses of coordination and agreement.
I'm trying my best to shake out of trolldom, but I still need some clarity here: The love and tolerance expressed in this small sect is to treat all as humans and equal. Right?
@Newbonzy Do not hate people, for it means to wish the deaths of people. Instead, find within yourself compassion (love) for fellow human beings; wish them well. Do not dismiss the necessity to understand people, be they murderers or gays or saints. With that understanding, tolerate what is harmless to others, but do NOT tolerate what is harmful to others. Feel sorrow for the school shooter's frustrating life, but do not stand idly while he terrorizes others. Ultimately, seek harmony.
Over 70 years later, this speech still holds up and is still begging for a new world. A world worthy of celebration, a world worthy of God, a world worthy for all men to live in as one. Bronies I ask you, YOU who are the future, YOU who are at that young age that your generation will shape nations and wage wars, I ask upon YOU to help me, help yourselves, help all men to achieve this wish set out in 1940 in the greatest speech ever given. LET US ALL UNITE!!
History and fate, it seems... is not without a sense of Irony. The most incredible and inspirational speech ever was performed by an actor, Charlie Chapman, who was portraying one of the most hated men of all time - Adolf Hitler.
Bronies, men who watch a show for little girls, while not evil, are still living testaments to nature's sense of Irony... and, at the same time, nature's sense of peace, harmony.
@NapoleonTheDessert Actually, despite the toothbrush moustache, Charlie Chaplin did not play Adolf Hitler. He actually played an unnamed soldier in a fictional country during World War II, who somehow rose to a position of prominence. The film was actually well-received at the time of its original screening for its anti-Nazi propaganda value.
Also, anyone who watches this should also watch and like/favorite the response 'Hate and Intolerance' by hotelmario510. It's pretty much the same thing, but without ponies, and showing the evils and injustices that have existed in the past. It's still speaking the same message, to rise above the hatred.
Thank you for uploading this video. I had become a brony just 1 month before I had to leave for basic training. During the first four weeks I had grown to hate being a soldier and wanted to quit, My two week vacation given to me for the holidays is now over and I leave today. This video helped me remember why I had enlisted, why I am doing what others are too afraid to do. I am now ready to face the weeks to come. Thank you,all of you... You have renewed my faith in humanity. Goodbye for now...
my favorite part is that he says "do away with greed, with hate and intolerance". Charlie Chaplin may not have lived to even the mlp G1 but i have no doubt, that if he had seen FIM, he would have loved it. Charlie Chaplin the true original brony, because he spread the message of love and tolerance before my little pony did, his spirit is apart of that movement and so he will live on in it because of that.
Everytime I listen to this, I get goosebumps all over, and a little tear comes to my eye. Humanity is still losing it's way and no one is willing to change it.
Thank you for making this video <3 Brohoove /) (\
Damn, why can't all bronies watch this video and see that, this is love and toleration.
I'm happy that there are bronies out there who like this. Unlike arsehats such as EzeCoyote or even some of them that I see on forums, that claim they're bronies, but treat others like crap. Why cant all of us just listen to the messages the show brings?
(btw, if I was reffering to Charlie Chaplins speech and no ponies present, I would say why can't all of humanity listen to his speech? Just saying.)
@aussieman1234 All true bronies follow the philosophy. Those who do not are not bronies.
You're right about how EzeCoyote acts like a completely contemptible dick. He says on his channel, quote, "I DO NOT ENDORSE YOUR SHITTY MORAL OF LOVE AND TOLERATION SO PLEASE JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND KILL YOURSELVES".
What a pleasant man.
Scrolling down the page, he tells a guy to "kill himself" for disagreeing with him. Again.
As far as I'm concerned, he's just an egotistical moron and a poser.
@hotelmario510 You sir, have restored some of my faith in the fandom... well this video too.
I agree, EzeCoyote is egotistical and a complete bigot, also a hypocrite, I mean he blocked me from even subscribing to him, all because I had a word to him after he commented harshly on a video. So... he can say bad things to people everywhere, but I can't express a word of love and tolerance to him? This situation calls for logic.
Isn't saying things like "x isn't a true brony" being judgmental and condescending in and of itself? While I definitely don't support this guy, whoever he is, I will respect his right to have an equal opportunity of opinion. I will love and tolerate him, and you should too. Just smile and tell him you love him, and give him a big hug! <3
This isn't just beautiful. This isn't just wonderful. This isn't just majestic.
It's all of those things, and more. This is ethereal, and it's hands-down the most powerful, most resonating, most brilliant Youtube movie I have ever seen.
What is the background music used for this? Youtube seems to think it's from the Hymn to Life album by Timo Tolkki but that's rock/borderline metal from everything I've heard.
no joke, i never heard this befor, but it drove deep into my soul. i will show this speech to everyone i now. i bileved mankind was on its death bed drawing its last greedy breath as it selfinplodes, but its speechs like this that show that there will always be hope. i wish to be soldier but its the most deeply sading thing is that my leaders could not hope to do more in 4 years then what was said in thoughs 4 mins and that sometimes words are all that are needed to give hope to broken men. TY
@WOWtrooper I always get choked up watching this speech because nobody listened. This speech was made over seventy years ago and yet we allowed people like Hozni Mubarak and Muammar Gadhafi to take power. And yet, this is a spark. If more people listened to this and took it seriously, then the world would be a much better place than it is now. We can change the world if only the world used this as their mantra. We're still fighting for a decent world.
Thank you for making this, seriously, thank you. I know you didn't make up the speech, but I highly doubt I would have ever watched this if you didn't combine it with MLP (nothing wrong with the speech without MLP, but MLP makes it 20% cooler at least, plus I got a link here from an MLP fan site so yeah)
I subscribed instantly, and I have this bookmarked and listen to it a ton, thanks for making this, can't wait for the second part.
It's always nice to get reinspired towards your goals.
Damm, whenever this speech starts I can not close the video till it is over.. Quite a good speech even if I have to admit I do not fully agree with some of the points made in it.(It is just way to optimistic on the nature of humans)
Even if I wasn't a brony, that was just beautiful. *manly tear shed* .. No, a tear.. was shed. Shed for all men, women and children. I want a better world.
before- feeling average.....after-tears running down my face, hope in my heart and inspiration coursing though me. Charlie Chaplin you GENIUS. God bless you Kybdi, you've made my year. :'')
..A speech has never brought me to the brink of tears until now.
What amazes me about this is you can tell through how he voiced the speech, he knew he wasn't addressing just the era he was living in. He was addressing all eras of humanity.
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed..
Damn, That was beyond amazing. Timeless speech that still holds true from Chaplin combined with Ponies and Inception soundtrack only heightens the truth stated here, damn.
I agree that Love and Tolerance should be not a self-defense mechanism for trolls or just some catchphrase, but a way of life. Can you imagine a world where everyone respects each others differences and ways of life? Where no one feuds over petty conflicts like race or religion? Sadly, neither can I. But I try my damnedest to make that a possibility. That's what I learned from being a brony. To respect one another.
@Kybdi Yay for that, really. As a brony, I learned all of that, from this simple series. I had never listen to this, but it's awesome, inspirational. I'm one like you, who wants a better world, for everyone, and I wish that one day it will.
Reminds me of a lost ending of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
But this is just too beautiful, and the words from days past still hold value today. Whoever you are out there Bronies and non-bronies alike, i love you all.
The sad irony is that the aeroplane and radio only developed after they were needed for war... It seems that much of technology, computers, radio, all were funded by fearful governments that all want to be holding the larger stick if war should come. This vision is a great one, but the sad truth is that war is inevitable, and greed and money fuel progress.
I don't want to be an emperor. I don't want to rule, conquer or enslave anyone. We should like to help everyone instead. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. To those who can her me I say, do not despair. As long as we are wiling to stand against the system of hate and violence, the faith will never fade in our hearts. WE ARE THE PEOPLE. WE HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THIS WORLD FREE AND BEAUTIFUL. LET US ALL UNITE. LET US FIGHT FOR A NEW WORLD
beautiful... what an amazing speech, but i think today is to divided in the corruption to be saved. It has to break itself down before it can be saved.
Why do 7 people hate this video? I guess some people out there who like a world filled with hate, unhappiness, and pain. The jerk faces!

If more people listened to this and took it seriously, then the world would be a much better place than it is now. We can change the world if only the world used this as their mantra. We're still fighting for a decent world.

@Levanoir No. That is NOT the brony mantra. That is a joking phrase. It is also what makes people think we're pathetic.
"Love and tolerance" is the brony mantra.

This is the single greatest speech I have ever heard.
If there is anyone who can present any single speech that can best this one, please, come forward.

I can't say anything that everyone else hasn't already said, but I can say that I agree.
I agree, dearly.

Quite a good speech even if I have to admit I do not fully agree with some of the points made in it.(It is just way to optimistic on the nature of humans)

..A speech has never brought me to the brink of tears until now.
What amazes me about this is you can tell through how he voiced the speech, he knew he wasn't addressing just the era he was living in. He was addressing all eras of humanity.
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed..

Let me just say that manly tears were shed.
Spike, take a letter...

The sad irony is that the aeroplane and radio only developed after they were needed for war... It seems that much of technology, computers, radio, all were funded by fearful governments that all want to be holding the larger stick if war should come. This vision is a great one, but the sad truth is that war is inevitable, and greed and money fuel progress.
yebetrollin 3 months ago
