Range Damage Decrease is inceorrect. it doesnt decrease damage but it decreases the effective range... just sayin

@xFUZZY13x depends on the gun. For snipers and LMGs, it decreases damage no matter what range, and for ARs and SMGs, it's only close range. Pistols and shotguns have their own complications, too.

how is damage applied to a headshot with a silenced intervention with stopping powers?

i know the base damage is 70, sp multiplies it by 1.4, headshot by 1.5, but reduced by 20 damage because of silencer. in what order do you apply these factors?

The Silencer affects actual damage, hence comes first. Then you have the hit zone, the head. Finally, the extra modifier, stopping power.

So it is 70-20*1.5*1.4 = 105.

@TheRatchet5 The only weapons that lose damage with silencer are sniper rifles and light machine guns. So in your case, you were using the Barret sniper rifle, it loses 20 damage points.

I don't know if I misunderstood the explanation, but the silencer doesn't actually reduce the minimum damage. What it does is make the gun reach its minimum damage at a much shorter range.

@TinyPieGuy Also. But they do decrease the minimum damage. For instance, the TAR-21 has a minimum damage of 30. But with the silencer, at the same distance it would do 30 damage, it'll do 15 damage. You know what I mean? ^^

Silencers don't decrease minimum damage at all. They just make the drop to minimum damage happen much sooner; they cut the range down.

The reduction in minimum damage is faulty information. Because a silenced tar-21 will always kill in 3-4 shots with damage of 40-30 (max-min). Conclusion a silenced tar-21 can kill with 4 shots at all ranges instead of 8 shots. (if it would really get a minimum damage of 15)

Modern Warfare 2: In Depth - How the game doesn't work, but we'll say it does anways...

Dude you got a lot of mistakes in this guides :S

1st - Silencer only reduce damage on Snipers and LMG's on all the others all it does is reduce the range...

2nd - On the damage guide, you forgot to mention the chest is divided into 2 areas, chest (the upper part) and the stomach. Snipers like Barrett and Intervention kill in one shot in the upper chest but not on the stomach.
