Joe Harris, creator of Underdog, said that Total TeleVison and Jay Ward used the same animation studio(s) and there was some kind of understanding: since Jay had a series with a frog, TTV couldn't. Hence: "It's a frog!" "...Not plane nor bird nor even frog it's just little old me...Underdog." (Harris said this during panels at the Anthrocon convention and I believe it's also in the book Created And Prod. By Total Television
In this "pilot episode" ("Ring-A-Ding Spring", part 2 of 4), originally produced in 1960, Alan Reed was "Fillmore's" voice. Initially, the first two chapters were produced for sponsor General Mills' consideration [which they turned down in '60]- when Jay Ward finally sold them the series in 1964, Reed was already busy working on "THE FLINTSTONES", and Bill Scott became "Fillmore". Jay Ward also decided not use a musical score (as he didn't with "Rocky & Bullwinkle") for the remaining episodes.
LuvvyDuck- I don't know if you can get Hoppity Hooper in stores (was it a part of Bullwinkle & Rocky Show? That's out now on DVD), but if it isn't the only 2 websites I would trust to buy non-commercial DVDs is either Sell*com, and iOffer*com. There is SO much there that is no longer on VHS/DVD & TONS that has never been out at all. There are ratings, Comments on sellers, and U can contact the seller to compare both sites on all items. I just checked iOffer- there's sets from 3 sellers!

Weird to hear music underneath (Dennis Farnon, who scored the open and the close;;that closing cue and some others are avaible through Ren andf Stuimpy library APM but the last cue is called "Here Endeth THe Session", and the composer's listed "Paul Gerrard!" LOL BTW The voices were Chris Allen (a girl and write ron the show, as Hoppity), Alan Reed (see the desciption for who he's KNOWN as!) as Fillmore the bear, Hans Conreid as Uncle Waldo the Fox, and Paul Frees as the narrator.
hoppity hooper is the same frog in one of the fractured faireytales from the Bullwinkle show.

Who did the theme song?

Ahh...Hans Conreid as the wolf. I recall "Fractured Flickers" that he narrated. Another toon from my younger days.

What a groovy theme song!

Reed used a voice similar to what he'd use for Dum Dum, Touche Turtle's sidekick in the Hanna Barbera shorts
