@kingcoach13 u honestly made the worst points I have ever seen in ur argument. I'm a center fielder nd if someone hits a ball 40ft over the shortstop im there to catch tht fly ball. Most pitchers do not have the reaction skills to catch a come backer at 90mph so hit it up the middle. Nd wat ur saying is tht u shud aim to be out in front of the ball so u can pull it? I'd throw u an off speed nd watch u walk back to the dug out. Plus while people do hit the ball harder when they pull it almost a
i have had coaches teach me this drill thousands of times and all it leads to is double loading and wrapping your bat. the guy does have a good swing, but this drill isn't that great
You want some real drills that actually help players become better hitters rather than mass producing robots, go to The Ultimate Game Changer DVD series. They might be the greatest drills videos of all time!
Not a good technique but dumbass how's he supposed to hit it 40 ft in the air? He's in-doors and it's on a tee to perfect your swing technique. So shut the hell up unless you know what you're talking about.
oh boy!! you hit the ball a grand total of 60 feet on the fly to the pitcher!! wow!! NOT.i'd rahter see the ball fly 40 feet over the SS position. that means you're WHERE you're supposed to be WHEN you're supposed to be.there. this drill is useless,& should be eliminated.you're ot doing yourself any good because you're not focusing on maximizing your batspeed. waste of time, & also non-productive.
@kingcoach13 What your saying is ridiculous... as a prospect, I've seen many drills that are not the best but what your saying just doesn't make sense. You'd rather see someone pull the ball then hit it back up the middle or away? Probably the worst comment I've ever seen.
@Rickerbocker957 argue with this: 1st of all if you program yourself to hit the ball when it already halfway past the plate..& all you can do is hit this ball on a tee a grand total of 60 feet right up the middle..what happens when you see a 90mph FB? you have no shot.set yourself to hit the ball in the optimum location..kneehigh inner half, about 6" out in front of the plate.that is where most long HR are struck.that is where you should tee it up.YES!WHEN YOU PULL THE BALL YOU HIT IT FARTHEST!!
@kingcoach13 I disagree... there's a reason center field and gaps are deeper than left and right field... the ball is hit furthest to the power alley's, usually the pull side gap because of the backspin of the ball instead of side spin when staying inside the ball and going opposite field... I agree with you that the ideal POC is in front of the plate, hitting the ball on the plate would result opposite field hits... a ball up the middle is still hit in front of the plate(if swing is correct)
@cdjahn set yourself up to be successful as often as possible by locating the ball on the tee knee high inner half, then HAMMER IT!program yourself to be able to hit that pitch in that location on the button.that is your gravy pitch.now practice in live bp hitting the ball in other locations as well.that requires a different swing plane.every pitch is different.but know you strongest location, use it your best advantage.that's how you improve.DON'T MISS YOUR PITCH WHEN YOU GET IT!
programming to hit the ball when it reaches the middle of the plate.BAD. longest/hardest hit HR are struck about 6-12" out IN FRONT of the plate.a player should practice putting his best swing on the perfect pitch in the best location.this ain't it.you can get around on a ball on a tee,but if you only hit balls when they reach the middle of the plate, you'll have lotsa popups/fouloffs cuz you'll be LATELATELATE to most pitches, & NEVER hit a tape measure HR.BAD.irrelevant self defeating drill.
@cornflakes510 aaron rowand who slid outta the league cuz he can't hit?also thought trading losing the rest of his season for one out & smashing his face into the wall for that one out was a good deal? that brickheaded idiot?at least he figured out he shouldn't do that anymore, this kid uses the weaker upper half, all arms/shoulders while ignoring his stronger lower half, his legs/hips.bp drills that are not realistic, like this one, don't do any good.practice like you play in real games.
This drill sucks. It teaches artificial movements.
Mind is movement, not the body. The body is a symptom of movement. Training the mind for proper movement is what people should do, rather than training the body. Its like taking an aspirin for a headache and saying you won't get headaches anymore. Aspirins only treat side effects to an unhealthy individual. You have to nourish the mind and get healthy to actually eliminate the headaches. Hitting works the same way.

@kingcoach13 I'm going to have to disagree, if your mechanics are on key, Centerfield should be the farthest place you hit the ball.
