Excellent ! 'Orcs' has been recommended to me by more than one person though I've not bought it yet. 'Empire at War' had a much better space battle feel than 'Battlefront II', I think. Those LotR books would be just interesting to read. Wow. Nice one. Good on Tim again. Cheers.
(no, I don't know any 'movie' programmes - and I'm on a Mac anyway...sorry!)
@23penguins32 No worries. I've gotten a few recommendations and I think I've found a program that will work for me. Hopefully you guys should be seeing a few videos from me in the next several days.
Once I've given the LotR solo-books a spin, I'll report back.
Empire at War is nice for the space battles. I didn't like the ground combat for some reason. And oh god I liked the strategy mode where you have the whole galaxy to manage and you can construct bases even the death start.
Towerguarddm did the good Ultimate Toolbox vid. I turned him on to another book which I hope to see him post a vid on eventually: Tome of Adventure Design, which is a big book in a similar vein to UT, but aiming more at inspiring plots in the mind of the user.
I am totally in envy of the Heroes of Legend. I'm currently scouring the world for universal RPG sourcebooks/idea mines. My most recent is the revised Dictionary of Imaginary Places, which is exactly what it implies.
@azirk83 I have the Revised Dictionary of Imaginary Places, I bought it at Borders before they closed their doors. It's a neat book, and wasn't very expensive.
Wow, that was a hefty treasure trove. I've seen some Tolkien Quest but sadly those were the days when I dismissed solo books out of hand. I'm eager to hear what you think of them after getting a closer look.
I've seen those LOTR books before but never gave it a read. I have found memories of D&D CYOA books. ORCS sounds interesting cover art looks realistic. Ha I hear ya I'm a "little" behind on my reading as well. I've was addicted to Battlefront and Knights of the old republic. Never played Empire at War. Hmm never heard of Hero's and Legends, tool kits are always useful.
I actually had 2 copies of the LOTR books, and since you like the LOTR... :) I enjoyed reading the Orcs novel, but I probably wasn't going to read it again, so I figured I would throw that in there. I bought the Star Wars games used, so hopefully it was complete. I didn't pay the price on the sticker of course. Hopefully you can play the games on your computer. I had an older copy of the Heroes of Legend which I thought had a slightly more OSR feel to it, so I kept that one. Your welcome.
@azirk83 I had two copies. :) Even if I would have known it goes for that much, I still would have given it to one of my YouTube buddies. I gave you a bunch of cool old school modules. I didn't check the price on those either. :) hehe.

@Samwise7RPG I just choked on my soda. CC:HoL 2E sits on Bookfinder for friggin $124.
Dude seriously? You hand a book off to Jordan and now I can't even get a copy for a reasonable price? That's a whole box of Sucks donuts!
(I kid, I'm sure it'll eventually spring up somewhere for $20.)

@azirk83 It's funny, I sent the books and I don't know what CC: HOL 2E stands for. :)
