Interesting idea. If you were cutting many of these, it would be a good idea to either get a ripping chain or to grind your current chain to 10 degrees. Cutting into end grain witih a standard 30-35 degree chain is difficult, produces dust rather than chips and generates a lof of heat as noted in previous comments.

I don't want to step on anyones toes, but 11 degrees is perfect! That's what I use on my Jonsred Saw mill!
