ok i have my reason rewired to cubase, now once ive recorded my base line in cubase usings the patch in the sub tractor unit, how do i control the rate amount so it changes as and when i want more or less? anyone?
What the fuck is it that simple?! I've always thought subtractor to be an analog for 3Osc in FL Studio, but seems not, as you'd never get that sound with 3Osc.
SO what's the recipe?! i can't see, what shape do you have on osc 1 ? Does osc 2 have a saw shape?
@seijinator tbh mate, if u set an lfo first before u start messing with the osc. set the amount to ful {127} and set the rate to 3/16 and dont forget to sync it. then mess about with different combinations of osc's you will come up with some intreasting sounds, set the freq to low pass 12. and just expierment.
hey mate, thought you qould eb the right person to ask. you know on the preview, how do you change the speed and alternate between speeds. eg: wub wub wub wawawawawaa. lol. anyway, would be great to know?
All you have to do is create an automation track for the oscillator rate that changes it from say, 3/16 in the tutorial to something like 1/16 or 1/32.
yo im new to reason and shit tbh, would you please check my songs if i can call them that lol on my videos and tell me what you think, and give me feedback and help me improve please? cheers.
This is probably the best most straight forward tutorial i've seen for making wubs in reason, any chance you'd be willing to show us all how you get those awesome punchy drums we hear in your tracks though ?
@maxmo14 thats his midi keyboard, if you dont have one you can do it by going on your sequence, selecting the subtractor then clicking the button just under file then you have a virtual keyboard :)
@blazzor80 you need to start automating. right click on the lfo nob and go to automation. or just play tune, hit record, move your nob and then it will record your movement then you can go back later and fine tune your automation by drawing in the rest.
i've followed it so far exactly with a initalized patch and everything but how do i play the sound that you do at 1:22, sorry i'm a beginner at reason
Holy crap... I don't know how you guys understand that whole board of dials and switches, let alone manage to explore enough of it to make the insane music that you do....
*Sudden new found degree of respect for electronic musicians*
hey im absolutely new to Reason 4.. i mean so new that its just been 7 minutes since ive started using this program. anyway... around 1:22 you say "so we have this sound at the moment.." hahah i feel embarrased asking this.. but what do you click to hear that sound?
when i change the rate of the LFO to make it wobble... how do i stop it from going out of time during the song... coz im copying and pasting my automation but it sounds different each time! cheers for the tutorial the bass sounds sick especially with scream distortion!
thanks this was good! the intro song was awesome. is there a way to speed up the tempo for individual subtractors? j hope you know what I mean! ....like make speed of the tone...faster? since there is only one tempo control.
Great tutorial. Very clear and helpful. I have reason 4, but I'm still playing around at the moment to try and figure most of it out. Should you ever have the time to make any more tutorials, it would be much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work :)
I have that same problem. Am a newby, can only get redrum to work with the mixer. I have no midi keyboard... so I don't know how to make melodies/basslines.

That's completely unnecessary.
All you have to do is create an automation track for the oscillator rate that changes it from say, 3/16 in the tutorial to something like 1/16 or 1/32.
