  • great simple vid!!!

  • Thank you dude good video :)

  • it wont play anything? :///

  • what patch are you using man?

  • Um I can't play the sounds on the synthesizer? Why?

  • THANKS DUDE *****

  • Thank you!

  • ok i have my reason rewired to cubase, now once ive recorded my base line in cubase usings the patch in the sub tractor unit, how do i control the rate amount so it changes as and when i want more or less? anyone?

  • What the fuck is it that simple?! I've always thought subtractor to be an analog for 3Osc in FL Studio, but seems not, as you'd never get that sound with 3Osc.

SO what's the recipe?! i can't see, what shape do you have on osc 1 ? Does osc 2 have a saw shape?

  • good job mate

  • thankyou!!!!! fast, and it worked. unlike luckydates video..

  • extremely useful tutorial!!! dubstep beat please :)

  • Can you make a bassline on Virtual DJ as well ?

Can you make a tutorial about that too, if it's possible ?

  • Great vid man!!!

  • why doen't it sound as cool at my place, as it does here?

  • @seijinator tbh mate, if u set an lfo first before u start messing with the osc. set the amount to ful {127} and set the rate to 3/16 and dont forget to sync it. then mess about with different combinations of osc's you will come up with some intreasting sounds, set the freq to low pass 12. and just expierment.

  • anyone who doesn't get a sound at all, you either need a MIDI keyboard, use the matrix sequencer or click the edit mode button on your playset.

  • what vst r u using

  • @gabbeat you dont use VSTs in reason

  • shit, iforgot.. my bad thanks man

  • my comments never get thumbs up :(

  • what keyboard do you use?

  • Can you help me please?

I did exactly what you did but no sound is made! There's no sound at all whenever I hit play. Can you please tell me what's wrong?

  • @bones2323323

you proberly havent wrote any notes in yet

  • Thank you. A single video that's less than 9 minutes long. So simple. Thanks bro.

  • Good stuff !

  • Nice tut man, I like how you keep it simple.

  • Sick man thanks!

Also for everyone else that did this create the effect "nastier bass" and it makes it way more dirty

  • Sick dude, thanks!

  • thanks for making this! this will be so useful :D

  • not specially dubstep but i'm tryin to make some jungle/dnb/breakcore stuff... and thanks for making this tutorial, was really helpfull :)

  • thank you so much! this is such a great bass. best one ive found in a youtube tutorial.

  • you are a hero!

  • Thanks alot bro... Look forward to more from you.

  • just one question sry 4 being noob : you play the sound without any note lane .. how?!

  • @Str33tCLIMB he has a midi keyboard

  • @SaltyPictures ty (:

  • fuckin' yes. Thank you, man.

  • Verry well done!! :)

  • I'm currently using FL Studio with NI Massive.. thinking of moving to Reason but that means learning the program all over again; is it worth it?

  • @AshleyllDutton i think its worth it

with reason 5 plus record 1.5, you have everything you need to produce high quality tracks as well as record and sample

  • thanks bra good tutorial

  • thanks m8, love the accent!

  • Ok, i understand, but when you actually put the song together with the different parts, how do you have different speeds in the same clip?

  • thanks great tutorial

  • how i keep the bassline on a tempo and change it for ex if one bassline was 150 how could keep it like that and change the other to 200

  • hey mate, thought you qould eb the right person to ask. you know on the preview, how do you change the speed and alternate between speeds. eg: wub wub wub wawawawawaa. lol. anyway, would be great to know?

  • @SwarmBeats

    Open up another subtractor.

  • @Zlyoot

    That's completely unnecessary.

All you have to do is create an automation track for the oscillator rate that changes it from say, 3/16 in the tutorial to something like 1/16 or 1/32.

Otherwise you're just wasting CPU resources

  • @SwarmBeats

He says it in the vid @ 2:14 ...

  • nice and clear tutorial, thank You

  • Very well done. Thank you soooo much for posting this!

  • pretty good, cheers.

  • how simple was that???

    Big thanks dude!!!

  • This is probably the best most straight forward tutorial i've seen for making wubs in reason, any chance you'd be willing to show us all how you get those awesome punchy drums we hear in your tracks though ?

  • What is a good tempo to make dubstep with?

  • @maxmo14 140

  • @maxmo14 140bpm ;-)

  • What were you clicking to hear what sound you had?

  • @maxmo14 thats his midi keyboard, if you dont have one you can do it by going on your sequence, selecting the subtractor then clicking the button just under file then you have a virtual keyboard :)

  • this was fuckn wicked man.nice one mate :)

  • can u send me the project file?

  • The Quality is great sir

  • simply the best dubstep bassline tutrorial.. wicked sound thanks...

i will post up a mix once ive hamerd out some sick drums

  • sweet bass! maybe i'll drop a reply when im done

  • Hey Jake, is there a function on Reason4 to adjust the rate of the LFO automatically, or you are just adjusting it manually when you record ?

Very usefull and simple tutorial btw :)

  • @blazzor80 you need to start automating. right click on the lfo nob and go to automation. or just play tune, hit record, move your nob and then it will record your movement then you can go back later and fine tune your automation by drawing in the rest.

  • wow dude idk if it was your accent but it really worked well :D nicest and fastest tutorial!! thumbs up on my side

  • hm. i try to preview my sound but i cant hear it! the bottom timeline is rolling but i cant hear anything :/

  • @j19n94r

  • mate going to sound like a tool, but just started using this and i have done all what you said but how do you get the sound to play?

  • How do i make it to play everytime i hit space button its blank?

  • @KdizzleMusic ...you need to put midi notes in...

  • @SplashZapCat he used the "Initialize Patch". Right click on the subtractor and choose Initialize Patch.

That will set the subtractor to the default settings.

  • THANK YOU VERY FUCKING MUCH !! (Y) XXX

  • Holy crap... I don't know how you guys understand that whole board of dials and switches, let alone manage to explore enough of it to make the insane music that you do....

*Sudden new found degree of respect for electronic musicians*

  • how do i edit the automation?

  • thank you so much:)...this is a great tutorial!!!!

  • hey im absolutely new to Reason 4.. i mean so new that its just been 7 minutes since ive started using this program. anyway... around 1:22 you say "so we have this sound at the moment.." hahah i feel embarrased asking this.. but what do you click to hear that sound?

  • when i change the rate of the LFO to make it wobble... how do i stop it from going out of time during the song... coz im copying and pasting my automation but it sounds different each time! cheers for the tutorial the bass sounds sick especially with scream distortion!

  • I figured it out. I thought about it before posting the comment and tested afterwards. I was right about my idea.

  • thanks this was good! the intro song was awesome. is there a way to speed up the tempo for individual subtractors? j hope you know what I mean! ....like make speed of the tone...faster? since there is only one tempo control.

  • hey where di you get those drum samples from? cheers

  • Great tutorial. Very clear and helpful. I have reason 4, but I'm still playing around at the moment to try and figure most of it out. Should you ever have the time to make any more tutorials, it would be much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work :)

  • @AlienWorkshoppp:

I have that same problem. Am a newby, can only get redrum to work with the mixer. I have no midi keyboard... so I don't know how to make melodies/basslines.

  • I like your video. I just got reason and this $hit helps understand all these damn programs!!

  • thanks for this mate, big help, but i cant figure out how to make the bassline tune now, any advice on how to come up with a good one?

  • how did you 'record' the changes of the LFO1 rate on the sequencer?

  • just hit hit record and any parameter changed will be recorded as it plays and you alter them. don't need to do it live though, use parameter automation and you can just draw in the changes instead of doing them live.

  • automating is easy. one way is to just hit the record button and just automate the lfo1 knob to go with how u want. or u could open up the automation sequencer.

  • Wow I could listen to the wobbly beat for ages!

  • Hey Jake, Im doing music technology Gcse, and i was hoping to make a Dub-Step for me Gcse Compisition. Im Using Logic Pro, can i make the wobble on that?
