At the very end, a female peer alluded to a feminist critique of the structural model, saying it privileged parents over children and men over women. Anyone know anything more about what she was referring to? That comment seemed "stuck out there."
faminists believe that there is always a gender/age inequality... A critique of structural, would be that Minuchin works with parents (not equally with children) and men over women.
However, Structural theroy focuses on the Exec. Hierarchy, so it would make sense that the children would be focused on inequally and well, Minuchin was from a Latino backround... working with poverty stricken populations - so, that seems natural too. Hope this helps.
I have seen a therapy sesion made by Minuchin in a course, he worked with all the family. It was awasome!!! He made all the work of a year in one sesion!!!
Wonderful!!! It has done real justice to Sal, his legacy, trajectory, style, as well as to Pat, his lifetime companion. Couldn't have been better assembled. Thanks!!
I just want to say that "Salvi"is an incredible therapist. He has such a charisma and therapeutic skills that can change any family. His books are very inspiring..Greetings to people at the MCF, Ema, David, and Way-Yung.
