@salmansengul Its an Australian car mate have a look at the everyday guys V8 Holden VE Commodore and you will notice people are making 500hp. As its a cop car the government has to pay for fuel, more HP more you use thus why its not making what it can. Australian Fords are making ridicules HP from factory with potential of 1000hp easy. Nowadays people in Australia by local as you get alot more HP for your money. Europe only has good Supper cars not daily drivers
@skatskatejay I bet you will find these are running on LPG and detuned to save on general patrol usage, or as you would say in States "propane". Its a 6L engine, believe me they chern out alot of HP in Australia and thats factory stock standard
@patriotofliberty1776 Am not basing my knowledge of off toyota.com. I based it off a users submitted "Top 10 Most Unexpectedly Fast Cars" at Jalopnik.com. can't find the list to prove it though.
@simrash20001 your v6 mustang get like 300 hp, besides its not horsepower thats going to move a boat like this caprice, its the torque. this thing has over 100 ft lbs more torque than your mustang. I guarantee this thing will haul ass like no other.
I have a luxury trim of this Caprice called "Caprice Royal" in the Middle East & I've been driving it for almost 3 years... I have to say that I'm overall happy & satisfied... And the value for the money is amazing...
The only Bummer is a few internal quality issues...
Not one American was put at work in the production of this car. It was build in Australia, shipped over to the U.S. and made believe an "All American" car. Couldn't fool me.
.....I know, and Australia has that problem with their Ford production in Geelong. They are going to receive government bail-outs, and what for? If the public wanted those cars in the first place, they wouldn't be in trouble. I don't get pay-outs when things are against me. We are suppose to learn from our wrong decisions, not dwelling in them.
Another GM car they took from their Australian design team. Just like the GTO.
6.0L V8? I guess when the tax payers are paying for the fuel GM doesnt care about gas mileage. Why should they? They had no problem taking bail out money either.
GM = Government Motors. DMV and Post Office style engineering.
I bet that piece of shit thinks he Is a winner what when to these fluoride-head king lovers when The People find out September 11 2001 was an Inside job. Everyone get Them a new police car.
@drnoob79 Yeah, 355hp is pretty crap compared to a lot of other cars... My dad's 1.9 litre diesel car has 148hp, that's getting towards half of 355...
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA an all american car. . . built in australia? that tickles. gm needs to pull their finger out and make good engines that are fuel efficient compared to european cars, not compared to a car built 40 years ago.
What the hell the guy in the end of the video is comparing the caprice to the crown vic while he should be comparing it to the new taurus interceptor which is dominating with its twin turbo 365 hp v6 which can destroy the caprice in everything including a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds
You guys GM isn't going to get anywhere with a rebadged holden I mean ford's interceptor has a twin turbo v6 pumping 365 hp with a 0-60 time in only 4.9 seconds and it has way better fuel economy so I guess ford will always have the bigger share in police cars
I wouldn't buy any new American cars. But between me and my wife we've had 7 used American vehicles in the past 10 years. A lot depends on luck when buying American. But you can pick up a used Chevy or a Caddy or a Ford for a fraction of the new ones.
I've had a 2002 Avalanche for the past 3 years and (knock on wood) no problems at all so far.
THe biggest down side is selling an American car though. They are really hard to sell
@2pacback2014 Its actually a 6.0 and thats not good because ford has the ford interceptor which has a 3.5 twin turbo giving it 365 hp and a 0-60 time in only 4.9 and why better fuel economy than the caprice .So chevrolet have to better then this
GMH (HOLDEN) has sold this car every where, since 2006... US (G8) for a short time, middle east (Caprice), europe (VXR8), Austarlia (Commodore), jus some names... all the same platform designed in aus, u beloved camaro rides on an aussie platform. sad to say that the US stopped building good cars a long time ago. i'm lookin forward to gm's next gen v8 tho, don't let us down gm!!
In the latest LASD/LAPD testing, the Ford ECOBOOST Police Interceptor beat both the HEMI Charger and the V8 Caprise in 0-60, 0-80, 0-100mph. The Ford also had fastest lap time at Fontana. It also has all-wheel drive to provide all-weather superior performance. Something that neither of the other manufacturers even offer. The blue oval is best of the bunch.
And don't forget, the Ford was designed and built without government bailout money!
At my police drivers training this past summer they told us that its the body of an impala (with a few changes) put onto the chassis of the camaro (again with a few changes).
Why the hell are they being made in Austrailia?? Would it make more sense for chevy( supposed u.s. company) to make it here for American police departments?? Idiots
@dodgeluvr6425 FYI this current model car has been made in Australia since 2006 as a high end luxury car (not as a PPV), why would GM duplicate a factory that already makes them? The tooling cost, let alone finding a factory to build it in would be Massive!! GM like every other car manufacturer in the world can and do at times, build outside their own country because it makes good business sence. After all it's about the bottom line! Cheers.
@punkrockford yes ive seen one already in my area, didnt know what the hell it was i just say big chevy symbol on the front, it was the only one i seen and i had to come here to confirm what i seen that it was a malibu...
police car are so easy to outrun, old cop cars with fat v8's, oh yeah, whats the fuck is the point of havin a big suv, like a ford explorer for a patrol car, like for a swat or gang unit, yeah, but not for just riding around on duty, fucking pointless, i saw a kid in a stock srt4 outrun a ford explorer patrol vehicle, like dumbass cop really thought he could keep up, haha, it was funny as shit. but the new charger are def a up-grade, still wack, most are the v6.. haha..
The ford interceptor TT AWD is faster....and goes like stink on shit in almost any weather condition....try and make use of that 360hp Rebadged Holden on a wet, snowy, or dirt road....well you won't....And if ONE OF YOU FUCKERS SAY "yeah well cops like RWD's better!! Well thats true... they do like their RWD's, but there are only a handful of officers that have ever even driven an AWD cruiser for duty, so how in the hell would they know if they'd like it not if they have never tried it. Choads.
Whee! a Re-badged Holden! Honestly, I would be excited to see an HSV (though here it would probably be an 'SS' re-badge) Clubsport as a highway patrol interceptor.
@mike305mike Hater!? Hows that I drive a 1995 chevy cavalier LS. So i'm a hater because I liked my ford I over the chevy... Whatever you say there boss.
@klashgdhsaeg oOo boy you got me. But the funny thing is Ford is the only U.S. car company doing good and still is. So if it wasn't for a small little sissy car like the fiat 500 there wouldn't be any jeeps out and if it wasn't for the government GM out of went in the shit hole aswell... Think about that.
@stellaspeed10 Our new Focus was recalled for spontanious combustion, our Explorer's ball joints like to break and throw it's wheels off. wtf is that, I've had 4 Chevys, 2 Oldsmobiles and a GMC from GM, never had a problem with any of them. Of the 2 Fords, the risk of bursting into flames and wheels flying off have occured.
@The2010camaro Our new Focus so you have a 2010 camaro and a 2012 focus... Hmm yeah don't believe everything you read. Like what I said before I own a 1995 chevy cavalier LS and I liked my ford ALOUT more then the chevy. + If Chevy made really good cars then why did they need the U.S. government to hand them millions of dallors to kinp there doors open? Never heard that with ford. This to talking about lousy engineering techniques how about we talk about the new camaro blind spots.
@stellaspeed10 In the UK no one buys them! A number of main dealerships closed down which is quite funny. Here the chevrolets and GM/Vauxhall cars are cheap and nasty with main dealers that lie to customers in order to generate work that doesn't need doing. Workers are forced to meet a sales target, so say other things on the car are broken. Never trust a garage like that. I would never buy a Vauxhall car again, unreliable junk - stick to Ford.
@urbex2007 I what to ADD this I do drive a chevy. But I hate it to hell I miss my ford escourt =(. If I can find one like my last one I would buy it in a sec
@xXMikeG916Xx Failures? Even if the Crown Victoria has over 70% of the market share? I own a Crown Victoria and trust me, a 4-cylinder can not perform better. It's like saying a Toyota Prius is faster than the Caprice shown in this video ... absurd.
@enforcer254 ...yes they can. v8 engines are dinosaurs well on their way out. Take a Subaru WRX STI. 2.5L 4-cyl Turbocharged 305hp 0-60 in 4.8 sec..Crown Vics are made to be cheap so they have a cheap old inefficient engine. They would not have a hope in hell of catching a performance car like an STI.
@hunkgod the police couldnt fit everthing they want in a WRX. STI and still be able to do what they need to. yes the WRX STI is fast enough. but its not BIG enough. what if they need to pit maneuver a truck? the STI will be eaten compared to a Caprice. the WRX STI would have no chance against a dually pick up.
It is an Australian version of the Old Pontiac G8 - coming back from Holden Motorcars (GM Australian) - They still make El Camino's over there as well
This was the Pontiac G8 with the GT drivetrain. Was sold to the public until Pontiac was closed down. You can still buy used. GM has no current plans to rebadge the Pontiacs (Holden) as chevys but have and continue to mull it around.
@RyuuMasato to retort your comment 0-60 is very important when observing the majority of police duties which is initiating traffic stops on the side of busy highways. A strong ability to accelerate quickly to match highway traffic, is not only essential in efficient traffic stops but also in an everyday application when attending emergency calls.
@arealscorpio1 I agree, this piece of the crap has it's ASS KICKED BY THE CROWN VIC ANY DAY! Let alone, the 2012 FORD Interceptor makes this police car, nuttin but a toy police car. Which it kinda looks like anyway.
Ok, is it a unibody ar has a frame? A real police car needs a frame for the abuse. Look at the Impalas, they try to go through a interstate median and bend the chassis.
Ford's Interceptor: 0-60 in 5.8s; 20% better mpg than Crown Vic; More interior room than the already roomy Crown Vic; More interior space than new Caprice; Column shift unlike the new Caprice; Better skid pad handling than Crown Vic or new Caprice; faster slalom than new Caprice; less body roll than new Caprice; superior instrument integration to hands-on controls (eg, steering wheel)... in almost every category, the new Interceptor is far superior in a production vehicle than the new Caprice.
this car is pathetic compared to the new ford comparisons.
Ford is attempting to innovate with smaller but equally powerful engines (to the current crown vic) for better fuel economy. Is advocating the clearly superior AWD systems to the current rear wheel drive.
It just seems like GM is attempting to please those who have become attached to the heavy lumbering crown vics and are opposed to the new lightweight sprightly ford taurus / escape utility.
Go and investigate at (use google to search for these because Youtube blocks site addresses):
Ford Australia site
Holden site
Ford Barra Engine
Ford FG Falcon
Holden WM Caprice
For those interested in performance and economy check out the Ford Falcon XR6T with Ford Australia's in-house turbo I6 engine: Power: 310 kW (416 hp) @ 5250 rpm, Torque: 565 N·m (417 lb·ft) @ 1950-5200 rpm. Fuel economy about 11-12L/100KM. Fastest car in the southern hemisphere.
Honestly these are the best RWD sedans on the planet for the money!! If you want better you would have to spend 2-3 times as much on a German car. Think about it, when running on CNG or LPG you get: fuel costs of a hybrid, in a car much larger, THE MOST FUN DRIVING EXPERIENCE aside from BMW & Mercedes, at a price more people can afford. Also you could take pride in the fact it is engineered and built in AUS/USA. US bar buyers start petitioning Ford & GM now!!!!
SUSTAINABILITY (some Gen 4 V8's have cylinder shut down and all engines can be converted to LPG or CNG which halves fuel bills from petrol). In Oz we also have Ford of Australia's Falcon. This car is noted for being more refined and having better 6 cylinder engines than the Commodore (smaller Caprice). I've always wondered why FoMoCo and GM don't import or assemble these models locally for US consumers who like great full-size sedans and wagons.
Hi from Oz! I live in the same city where the car is manufactured (Adelaide, South Australia). It's great to see that the full-size RWD sedan is still alive from local Oz & US manufacturers. In Australia, this style of car is highly valued because of RELIABILITY (tested through searing deserts and all over the place), POWER OPTIONS (GM V6 and GM Gen IV V8), DYNAMICS (local testers say that it's handling is close to a BMW 5-series at half the price).
they need to go with the g8.. the estimated hp of 355 is laughable from a 6.2 in 2011 come on GM.. why didnt this car get the engine from the camaro atleast
it's all about the new Ford Eco Boost! The Taurus police interceptor performs better and it's engine is half the size. Chevy is going in the wrong direction.
At least now that they discontinued the Crown Vic, when they slam my head against the hood, there will still be a nice V-8 to feel. Less leg room though.
@twizz420 The Taurus will die long before this Caprice will. Australian design, and particularly Holden engineering, which is the real company that builds it, would never allow them to build something as soft as a Taurus. Those stinkers briefly came to Australia, and bombed because they were 1. butt ugly 2. had suspect handling and 3. were a lemon from day 1.
And Holden is the Australian DIVISION of GM so the fact that you believe that this is some great australian marvel is ridiculous. We plant the seeds, you sow the crop. Period.
yay new police car.. I hope its fuckin super unrealiable as shit so it breaks down before getting a ticket. And 350HP from a 6.2L V8 haha wtf, I know BMW Inline-6 motors that get that power.
I will say what i have always said about Holden. Awesome cars, great vision, all paid for by Americans. G.....M. The G8 is still your greatest claim to fame. Awesome car. Someone in Australia should step up to the plate and buy the brand. The question then is, do you have the money for R&D to continue making great cars.
I believe you would, but they would not pass through any other countries emissions. Like it or not, you have to take that into consideration.
@meyer2278 At the time of the global financial crisis, Holden were making $150 million in profit. Most of GM USA's input at Holden is in supplying things like engines and making components affordable. The current rumour is that more Holdens are headed for America under the Chevy Lumina (G8, VE Commodore based) El Camino aka G8 Sport Truck, Holden ute, and possibly a civilian Caprice.
i heard it has more horsepower and torque than the charger with better fuel economy too, btw that car looks sweet- wish they can make a domestic version so i can get one
Ed Welburn, executive director in charge of body-on-frame architectures for GM Design, will become vice president of design (2003), North America, on October 1 and fully assume Cherry's ( former design) responsibilities. Those responsibilities, in addition to day-to-day management of GM Design, include membership on the GM North America Strategy Board and oversight of GM's Global Design Council.
the orignal car its called holden its come to middel east in ksa since 2000 and the only thing that come frome chevy ia the engine inside this there is ls1 engine
@fahalzahran It seems you don't understand global car marketing. GM is not liying about anything, this holden Caprice goes under many names (Buick Park Avenue, Buick Royaum, Daewoo Veritas, Daewoo Statesman) in different countrys to suit local markets, just like every other car maker does. It's about building car sales on long established names plates in a particular market/country, even though that car might not even be built in that particular country anymore eg the Caprice. Hope that helps.
@fahalzahran I'm not sure what your point is. But this car has always been the Australians version of the Caprice name plate, GM version has been a very different car.
Why must GM seek to "mask" this car from the American public by calling it a Chevy? Are they ashamed of their Aussie Holden subsidiary...the most successful of their overseas operations? Americans aren't dumb! They know that this car is a Holden Caprice...sold as a luxury long wheelbase car in Australia. Aussie designed and built. Nice to see that our American cousins like the cars we make.
@MyriadVidz , the Caprice is a longer wheel base version of the Commodore which in Australia is kitted out as a locally-made luxury car. In Australia police use the Commodore (V6 or V8) based because they are cheaper, faster and handle better but GM obviously decided that American cops would prefer the bigger Caprice.

Choads.

I would never buy a Vauxhall car again, unreliable junk - stick to Ford.

xXMikeG916Xx 3 months ago
@xXMikeG916Xx Failures? Even if the Crown Victoria has over 70% of the market share? I own a Crown Victoria and trust me, a 4-cylinder can not perform better. It's like saying a Toyota Prius is faster than the Caprice shown in this video ... absurd.
enforcer254 3 months ago
@enforcer254 ...yes they can. v8 engines are dinosaurs well on their way out. Take a Subaru WRX STI. 2.5L 4-cyl Turbocharged 305hp 0-60 in 4.8 sec..Crown Vics are made to be cheap so they have a cheap old inefficient engine. They would not have a hope in hell of catching a performance car like an STI.
hunkgod 3 months ago
@hunkgod the police couldnt fit everthing they want in a WRX. STI and still be able to do what they need to. yes the WRX STI is fast enough. but its not BIG enough. what if they need to pit maneuver a truck? the STI will be eaten compared to a Caprice. the WRX STI would have no chance against a dually pick up.

@RyuuMasato to retort your comment 0-60 is very important when observing the majority of police duties which is initiating traffic stops on the side of busy highways. A strong ability to accelerate quickly to match highway traffic, is not only essential in efficient traffic stops but also in an everyday application when attending emergency calls.

joewillgo 4 months ago
Ok, is it a unibody ar has a frame? A real police car needs a frame for the abuse. Look at the Impalas, they try to go through a interstate median and bend the chassis.
johnmanningnavy1983 4 months ago
Who needs cops in fast cars anyway....*
TheAmanitus 4 months ago
Ford's Interceptor: 0-60 in 5.8s; 20% better mpg than Crown Vic; More interior room than the already roomy Crown Vic; More interior space than new Caprice; Column shift unlike the new Caprice; Better skid pad handling than Crown Vic or new Caprice; faster slalom than new Caprice; less body roll than new Caprice; superior instrument integration to hands-on controls (eg, steering wheel)... in almost every category, the new Interceptor is far superior in a production vehicle than the new Caprice.
MrLeebythesea 5 months ago
this car is pathetic compared to the new ford comparisons.

US bar buyers start petitioning Ford & GM now!!!!
daveyfamily2 5 months ago

SUSTAINABILITY (some Gen 4 V8's have cylinder shut down and all engines can be converted to LPG or CNG which halves fuel bills from petrol). In Oz we also have Ford of Australia's Falcon. This car is noted for being more refined and having better 6 cylinder engines than the Commodore (smaller Caprice). I've always wondered why FoMoCo and GM don't import or assemble these models locally for US consumers who like great full-size sedans and wagons.
daveyfamily2 5 months ago

Let's just stick with the new Taurus... That car WILL take a massive punishment and continue to tick.
twizz420 6 months ago
@twizz420 The Taurus will die long before this Caprice will. Australian design, and particularly Holden engineering, which is the real company that builds it, would never allow them to build something as soft as a Taurus. Those stinkers briefly came to Australia, and bombed because they were 1. butt ugly 2. had suspect handling and 3. were a lemon from day 1.

Like it or not, you have to take that into consideration.
meyer2278 6 months ago
@meyer2278 At the time of the global financial crisis, Holden were making $150 million in profit. Most of GM USA's input at Holden is in supplying things like engines and making components affordable. The current rumour is that more Holdens are headed for America under the Chevy Lumina (G8, VE Commodore based) El Camino aka G8 Sport Truck, Holden ute, and possibly a civilian Caprice.

fahalzahran 6 months ago
@fahalzahran It seems you don't understand global car marketing. GM is not liying about anything, this holden Caprice goes under many names (Buick Park Avenue, Buick Royaum, Daewoo Veritas, Daewoo Statesman) in different countrys to suit local markets, just like every other car maker does. It's about building car sales on long established names plates in a particular market/country, even though that car might not even be built in that particular country anymore eg the Caprice. Hope that helps.
ziggyzedly 6 months ago
@ziggyzedly
but it was in the market in 60's and 70's with the real name of it in holden in ustralia

Nice to see that our American cousins like the cars we make.
tripsadelica 6 months ago
Why are they using a caprice?
I thought caprice was a budget branch off the commodore?
MyriadVidz 7 months ago
@MyriadVidz , the Caprice is a longer wheel base version of the Commodore which in Australia is kitted out as a locally-made luxury car. In Australia police use the Commodore (V6 or V8) based because they are cheaper, faster and handle better but GM obviously decided that American cops would prefer the bigger Caprice.
